Incredibly fair criticism. I said this in the last political post, also by Cody! If you're going to discuss politics you should only do so with the passion that you have for it. Not as a mealy mouthed, signaling post that's trying not to ruffle any feathers. We all know WHY people are hesitant to discuss politics, or even forbid it. But that sort of attitude only pushes the discussions to the fringes where they become radicalized and completely unproductive.

And we all know that baseball adage: No one ever develops, no one ever learns anything, as it was ten years ago so shall it be tomorrow.

Royce Lewis, Byron Buxton, and Baseball’s Bullying Ways
NYCTK replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Royce has also just been a really bad player for an entire calendar year now, despite being healthy for 2/3 of that time. If he hit 300/360/550 the last year he'd still be championed and his injury would be lamented. Instead the Twins have a 200/260/350 player that's out and the team is not really worse for it. -
I'm with him. Not even entertaining the idea was a huge failure as a baseball organization. Griffin Jax could very well be 4x as valuable as a SP, and the arguments against it are incredibly weak. They already have SP depth? Lot of good that did, huh. Blow up the bullpen? Wasting resources in a bullpen is a losing strategy, and the bullpen would be fine without him. What if he's bad? Darn, go back to the bullpen. The fighting against an objectively good idea is just baffling to me, and just reeks of a loser, risk averse organization.

TBF, Royce would have bene on the opening day roster, so that's 2 players. 2/26 of the would be players on the opening day roster being hurt is a healthy team.

And, yes, the Twins are healthy. For example, here are the AL Central teams and their number of pitchers on the IL right now: Twins - 2 Royals - 6 Tigers - 7 Guardians - 8 White Sox - 9

No, I'm more so saying that a major league pitcher missing 4-6 weeks is not even really notable. Every team has multiple pitchers missing 4-6 weeks at any given time, basically.

100% absolutely not. The front office didn't expect Emmanuel Rodriguez or Tanner Schobel to contribute, at least not in the first half of the season. Luke Keaschall? Maybe. But you're letting the Twins Organization off the hook for poor roster construction. Every team has injuries. It's nothing but a convenient excuse.

#3 prospect! I don't dislike him, but agreed that he was going to really slow down. He should be viewed as a prospect still and not as a player that has graduated and can be counted on, like Lee. Definitely a loss, but wasn't really expected to be on the team in the first half. Only got called up because 2 players on the major league roster fully **** the bed. Boo! That's a bummer. Was assuming it was gonna be a 4-6 week thing. Point still stands though.

The Twins ARE relatively healthy. Looking only at position players, Royce is hurt? Shocker. Austin martin? Or darn. The #2 and #3 prospects? That sucks. And pitching? Pablo is the big injury and really sucks. Bullpen is fully healthy? One more starter down for a minute. So, one bad injury. Look around the league and you'll see the Twins are probably one of the more enviable teams as it relates to health.

I can't wait for Keirsey to further show why the Twins didn't need Bader.

Gasper can't play 2B. The reason Gasper isn't a major leaguer is he can't really play anywhere.

I'm mostly struck by how shallow this team was originally constructed. The team, especially in position players, is relatively healthy. Bride and Clemens are both waiver pick up. And yet, both are safe on the current roster due to there being absolutely no one fighting for their jobs.

I don't think it's necessary to trade Duran. But I think considering he's due 7.5 million or more next season, and looking at what the Marlins received in exchange for Tanner Scott — especially in comparison to what the Brewers received for Devin Williams — I think exploring his trade market would be very wise. Larnach is just one of those fringe players I don't really like. Terrible defense. Bad baserunner. Decent but unremarkable hitter. Can't hit lefties. Due basically market rate next season. But we also have a fairly decent comp from last trade deadline in Jesse Winker who returned a mediocre AA SP prospect. Meh.

Should probably be talking about selling instead. This team isn't a piece or two from being a contender. But they do have a lot of pieces that could be moved: Duran Coulombe Bader Paddack Topa Larnach Stewart France Castro Vazquez I'm way more intrigued by doing a small reset, largely with the bullpen, building up the system a little bit, and trying again next season (with a new owner?!). In reality, they'll likely trade for some Lane Thomas type of OF, call it a day, and then act surprised that 82 wins wasn't enough to make the playoffs.

Keep championing a washed loser. Really want the 50th best pitcher in Japan and notorious clubhouse cancer on the Twins. That'd really do well for their Public Relations.

He was also investigated in an internal, non-criminal investigation that resulted in a 2 year ban (reduced to 140+ games by an arbiter) that all teams have access to and we do not. This, a league, that still happily employs Aroldis Chapman (30 day suspension) and Marcell Ozuna (20 game suspension). He's a world class ****** person, even for a league scattered with ****** people.

Hitting philosophy, and then pitch framing on the other side. As for robo umps, I think I'm ok with it as it was implemented in Spring Training. A quick and easy way for batters to second guess the umpire. There's only been two games in the statcast era where an umpire had a perfect game. Every single umpire is going to miss calls. However, as I smiled watched those waymos burning this week, I was reminded how I don't want robots to take anything over. It's a tool I'm comfortable using, but miss me with any sort of idea of full time automated balls and strikes system.
