My projected Twins 2024 Pitching and Lineups
Gamblerssoftball replied to C-Gangster's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
You've got Brooks Lee making the club out of spring training. That might be a bit optomistic. -
Very interesting, thanks for getting this out. This says a lot about Pablo Lopez and his emerging influence on people who have been associated with him. It's great that the organization is willing to work with pitchers to find the missing tool to regain effectiveness at the major league level. Good luck to him and the staff!
-
Clubhouse chemistry, leadership qualities, and just being a guy everyone likes to be around are hugely important. I think most major league teams under value this way too much. In the right environment, much greater production can be achieved from every player on the roster, just because the overall comfort level is high. This is why the salaries of Farmer and Vasquez are excellent values to the team. And, they are solid players, too.
-
I realize that you are right about how trade values are thought of by owners/FO. My thoughts are that they over value service time. So few really become great. I'm glad I don't make those decisions!

How can you come to the conclusion that Lee's trade value will be at its peak with a hot start at AAA? I would think he's years away from having monster trade value. And then we will all say he's untouchable! My hopes, anyway! The same with Lewis and Julien. Optimism abounds.

If DeSclafani and Theilbar are not healthy enough to start the season, then it's likely Varland and Funderburk are next in line to go north. Anybody else on the questionable health list?

Your probably right, but you sound so certain about it. Is there something you've heard that makes you think that?

It doesn't bother me anymore that they are waiting to make any other moves. There's a fair amount of anticipation to see some of our own developing players get a shot at the last spots on the roster. While I thought there was going to be one more trade or FA signing, this may be it for now. A deadline deal, maybe.....?
-
Everyone wants ownership to spend more money. I do, too. However, the biggest need is for a front line starter, such as Montgomery. Wayyyy overpriced. It's looking like a deadline move, if any. They will likely bank it until then. I do like some of the ideas to spur interest in the team. Something needs to be done in that regard.

I have really enjoyed reading all these write-ups and comments. It will make me more tuned in to the minors and follow some of these guys as they make their way towards the big leagues. Thanks, everyone!

I've always been reluctant to signing pitchers to long term contracts, regardless of their talent. They are so risky, just one pitch away from needing Tommy John surgery. But, I have a question. Are teams able to purchase insurance for this type of thing? Is it even available? If so,is it practical or too costly? 🤔
-
Byron seems to have only one speed, which is wide open. But, he could still be a marvelous player if he throttled back to 85% or so. By that I mean, no crashing into walls or headlong dives in the gaps. Now, what I'm talking about would barely be noticed, because it is such a slight reduction in effort, but it would be definitely smarter. He needs to find a way to STAY ON THE FIELD. His production will be there, if he's fully healthy. Time and age should finally have brought him there. At least, that's my hope for him. You know how much he wants it, too!

Some these poor guys have no clue whether to unpack their bags or just sleep at the airport. Gotta be kind of frustrating 😒

W total predictions as of 2/5/24
Gamblerssoftball replied to chpettit19's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Buxton and Correa healthy and productive will raise everyone's ceiling. Even the pitching staff, if your playing with a lead. I really like our chances if only this comes true 👍 -

The re-emergence of Buxton and Correa is the key to the ceiling. The pitching staff controls the floor. I think the staff right now keeps the floor just above .500. The bullpen is slightly better than last year. The starting staff, slightly worse. -
I'm a big fan of Farmer,so I hope he stays. The way he came back from a fastball to the jaw tells me he's a gamer. He is very solid in backing up all the infield positions and he's great in the clubhouse, I understand. That kind of versatility isn't as easy to find as some may think. In other words, I think he's worth more to the Twins than any other team. Similar to how they view Kepler, probably.

I just get this feeling that they aren't done. Remember, they have made trades right up until camp breaks. Whether it's for a number 2 starter or a bigger rh bat, I don't know. But I think it is coming. Maybe It's just a belly ache 😕

Is Miranda coming into spring 100% healthy? If so, it will just be getting his self confidence going to where he believes in his abilities. He could really provide a boost to the offense. That may delay the debut of Lee, which at this point seems appropriate until he dominates at AAA.

It's always important to maintain a good clubhouse environment, as well. I don't think adding Pham is a good idea for this reason alone.

I will miss Jorge. Especially those eyes while staring down the pitch. But, his health has to have been a factor. Every swing looked painful last year. I think this trade may well be a good one before too long.
