  1. The polls on this website make me chuckle sometimes: "How many games will the Twins win this season?" starts at 71-75.... this team, with 22 games left, may not win 70.
  2. Reading all the comments here leads me to one summarization: This whole organization needs a fresh start from the top on down.
  3. 11,721 attendance per the box score last night. Woof indeed...
  4. Can you elaborate on that please? My understanding is that the owners would welcome a salary floor/cap but the players don't want to have possibly limited top end salaries.
  5. That pending labor stoppage could kill MLB, and I can't help but wonder if the players aren't shooting themselves in the foot if a salary floor/cap is a non starter during negotiations... Regarding the Pohlads selling them team, I won't hold my breath. I will, however, exhault to the highest heavens the day it actually happens... whenever that may be.
  6. I am morbidly curious what other GM's (owners even) think of this organization, and even what bloggers from other teams think of them as well. Is there a John Bonnes, et al. type person or group that would be willing to give an outside view? Not that many outsiders spend that much time thinking about the Twins, but... someone willing to give somewhat of an objective view on the team as whole. Just throwing stuff at the wall here, trying to afford more productivity to my negative thoughts surrounding the team lol.
  7. Heh, this one already feels like a 15-1 loss after losing the series to the ChiSox this past weekend...
  8. Almost all of their actions (and the FO/management's) make it look like that will be the case... just as it's always been. Sheesh, it's like the Twins and MLB are stumbling over themselves to poop the bed. Meanwhile over at The Shield (NFL) they are continually expanding worldwide and still raking in the cold hard cash. I still don't fully understand why MLB hasn't figured out how to mimic that business model better.
  9. Sounds like anyone who goes to games now should just start wearing bags on their heads.
  10. Meanwhile over in the NBA the Portland Trailblazers had no major problems selling the team... FOR JUST OVER FOUR BILLION DOLLARS. And they just put the team up for sale in May. Sheesh! You can't tell me there weren't buyers for this Twins team, it's just that the current owners made the purchase so unattractive from a business standpoint that no one wanted it. I loathe the term "poverty franchise," but this all leaves me with that taste in my mouth.
  11. “We see and hear the passion from our partners, the community, and Twins fans. That passion inspires us. This ownership group is committed to building a winning team and culture for this region, one that Twins fans are proud to cheer for.” Biggest load of BS ever, and that's saying something coming from this organization...
  12. This news is gut wrenching, particularly due to the likelihood that the Twins will just continue to be more of the same that we've seen. Low payroll, moving players not under team control or close to it, nickel and diming the franchise to try to make more money, etc. Get ready for more of the same non playoff teams that give us spurts of hope early before awful trade deadlines and poor play make them almost unwatchable. I've said it once and I'll say it again- if you're rich enough to own a sports franchise, you own the sports franchise because it's a hobby that will eventually make you more money with the sale of the team. If you're only in it to make money as a business, this is a perfect example of what you get- bad teams and dwindling attendance. Then they have the nerve to wonder why? F the Pohlad family. I will be waiting to see what any new partnerships and investors look like, but until there are new ideas and models that result in a more stable and increasing payroll with an eye towards getting results on the field: I'm out.
  13. Ahhh yes, the Twins were just what the Yankees needed to get their season back on track for the playoff push.
  14. Mickey Gasper at the DH spot batting 9th lol. Well here we go, put some more runs on the board fellas!
  15. Exactly! 2 out RBI double in the top of the first today... so far he's picking up where he left off before getting beaned (he was hit on the hand if I recall correctly?). This article was a nice perspective reset for me- I still don't like the Pohlads and how the team is being run but revising my expectations to just watching a bunch of guys play ball and maybe play the spoilers in September can be fun too. #selltheteam
  16. These moves make me think that a sale of the team is near. It feels like they very intentionally dumped salary and took prospects in return with these trades. It's the only thing that makes it make some sense to me... / takes heavy pull from nearest liquor bottle
  17. LOL ain't no way this FO is going to do anything of interest. They'll get rid of Bader for cash considerations at best. Pffft. The Mets deal would be decent tho...
