  1. Hall of Famer with decades of experience going back to the beginning of the Twins vs brief moments of excellence mixed with a huge amount of time as a broken down cheer leader, that's a tough call.
  2. That was the title of a 1960 book written by Joe Gargiola but now I'm just showing my age.
  3. I think it would be better if Lewis just learned to keep his mouth shut.
  4. I'm naive enough to be surprised. Shocked actually. I don't think I can watch another season of Rocco ball.
  5. if all the people making uninformed opinions left this forum it would be a lonely place. "As decade's-long athletic coach and trainer, I probably do have more information than most." I yield to your superior knowledge. It doesn't make me any less of a fan though. Since "99+% of fans are ignorant of the majority of ongoings within a sports organization" perhaps it is you that is in the wrong forum.
  6. Reading comments on Twins Daily it is clear that a majority of fans have very strong opinions about what's wrong and what should be done about it. I doubt many of us can say we agree with half of what we read here. Using words like "the ignorance of the fan", "insanely ludicrous", and "peanut gallery" cross a line for me into personal insult. Unless you have insider access to the training process of the Twins do you really know any more than anyone else about this? The comments you refer to are just a valid as yours. The difference is they are less insulting,
  7. "Unfortunately for Lewis, a segment of the Twins fan base will not forget these injuries, no matter how well he performs when healthy." It works the other way too. A lot of us fixate on the good performance times and can't forget that. I did that with Miranda. Going back to 22 he has some great stretches of performance. I held on to that and overlooked the greater periods of time he performed poorly. A lot of people do that with Lewis. I see Lewis as an undependable, injury prone player who occasionally was a monster home run hitter. Hard to say how we all come up with our bias for and against a player. But we do change eventually.
  8. The Twins have been far from their "best" most of the year, with him or without him.
  9. Clearly he is doing something wrong. The Twins training philosophy isn't working, at least for Lewis. A more holistic approach may be called for. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "This is an unfair weight for a young player to carry, especially given how many of Lewis’s injuries have been freak occurrences rather than signs of chronic fragility. " I completely disagree with the "Freak occurrences". He either is built unstable or he is doing something drastically wrong.
  10. Your articulation of the Twins measure of success, or rather lack of, is spot on. Your humor is a minor masterpiece. Time to head to the bar.
  11. I'm big on taking responsibility for your actions / performance. It appears not everyone is.
  12. Quotes by Lewis from an article by Steve Schaeffer on the Twins website today. “I’m tired of being the one that’s getting bullied and picked on by this game,” “It feels like whether it wants me to suffer on the offensive side [in May] or, when I’m going hot, it wants to kick me out with an injury. It seems like it’s just picking on me at this moment,” Lewis said. “And so I’m just waiting for one of my friends to pick me up and stop this bully.” This is not an adult that is taking responsibility for their life in baseball. This is a 7 year old. I stopped seeing him a relevant a long time ago except as a cheer leader. I still think he could pull it together and grow into a player that can use the potential he has sometimes shown but I don't put much thought in it.
  13. Polanco walks off the Guardians who just don't seem to want 2nd place no mater how the Twins play.
  14. Maybe the Twins will hire some Physical Therapists and Trainers that know what they are doing?
  15. I had not looked at the news yet. Scary. And in Minneapolis even. My bad timing.
  16. They shot the Sheriff. Now I think they are coming for the Deputy.
  17. Since last year I viewed Lewis as a not even there. I tried my best to forget him rather count on him performing at the brilliant level that most expect from him. It was more difficult when when he played, watching him struggle. His moments of brilliance in the past were too long to be a fluke but overall I don't think he has the temperament to be a MLB player or even a AAA player. He seems like a 7 year old stuck in a mans body. He lacks seriousness He apparently has no sense of what his body can do and not do. It would seem the Twins staff has let him down too. I would love to see the monster crushing home runs in clutch situations again but I don't expect that, I don't think about that.
  18. There is a bright side. Paddack is giving up all those hits and runs on fewer pitches. He's efficient. Might go 5.
  19. I watch the Red Sox waiting for this game and fall asleep. Wake up and switch over to Twins and it's 0-5? The strange thing is for a second I was surprised. The "oh yea, not surprised". Is the pitching thing contagious?
  20. When the music's Ober, Turn out the lights, Turn out the lights...
