  1. Maybe when Correa and Lewis get back, they go a run. With Lopez, Ryan and Ober, there's enough starting pitching. But the tailspin may do more damage than they can overcome.
  2. Twins jumped into a time machine and took us back to 2021. 8 games out already.
  3. Wasn't pretty, but you have to start somewhere. Need Varland to step up and win the series. Do that and then onto the White Sox.
  4. Let's see if the lineup can wake up and put up a crooked number inning (or two)...
  5. Weird rationale. So why do teams fire managers?
  6. I think Thielbar is washed. Great teammate and local product but right now, he shouldn't be taking up a roster spot with Funderburk and Okert in the pen. Using him last night is on Rocco. But he shouldn't even have the option.
  7. With Lewis, they're probably at .500 or a game or two over. Baseball gods not just frowning in the Twins but also smiling on the Indians and Royals. I don't think anyone anticipated them playing this well. It's early but a 7 game hole isn't inconsequential and it is just looking like one of those years.
  8. Baseball gods told us how this season was going to go when Lewis went down on opening day.
  9. Yeah, it's not happening. Twins will be 10+ out by May 1st.
  10. This was the home stand to flip the switch. If they don't do it now, they're not going to.
  11. This season is 2021 all over again.
  12. Divisions can be lost in April...
  13. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/#post-808286 Way too young. Remember him well during his stint with the Twins. RIP.
  14. Has there been any word on Correa? Thought they were targeting end of the week for an update...
  15. I wish they'd give Camargo a shot...
  16. And not sure what happened in Kansas City but Ober's rebounded nicely the last two starts.
  17. Joe Ryan looks to be re-establishing himself as a potential #1 starter...
  18. This is an interesting point. I think the Twins have like 3 stolen bases on the season and Farmer has 2 of them! Buxton not running and Castro never being on base - certainly throws a wrench into small ball but the Twins rarely seem to do things to jumpstart the offense. Yesterday, they did send Margot and he with Watkins helped they were aggressive in pushing a run across. Need more of that. On the flip side, hard to manufacture runs when you're striking out 15 times a game and don't have guys on base.
  19. These next 16 games loom large. Presuming that Correa, Duran and Kepler return during that stretch and looking at the opponents, the Twins could position themselves to be at or slightly over .500 as the calendar turns to May and that's pretty much where they lived last year until the end of August when they got hot. How will Cleveland, Kansas City and Detroit play - and will a .500 Twins' team be within striking distance?
  20. Unless this season completely bottoms out, and by that, I mean 90+ losses, I would be surprised if there's a major move with the FO or with Rocco. Their hands were already tied thanks to Joe P.'s cheapskate ways and now they have the added excuse of injuries to Lewis and Correa. A different franchise with different expectations, then yeah, seats would be getting warm right now. But, I don't think the Pohlad's care enough about winning to make sweeping changes.
  21. I'm always curious why people attribute FO philosophies to the horrible showing at the plate. To me, if there is a philosophy, it is being preached at all levels of the organization. We've seen in recent history, young players come up for AAA and appear to be better prepared and disciplined at the plate than the veteran players too. Whatever is that is being taught in St. Paul, seems to be contradictory to what's going on with the big club. My issue with Popkins has been spelled out at ad nauseum. But for the last time. He just doesn't have the resume or experience to be a hitting coach at the MLB level. When nearly everyone in the line-up is slumping, adjustments need to be made and there needs to be more attention to detail. Popkins doesn't give me confidence that he's up to the challenge. The strikeout numbers have been a problem each year he's been with the Twins. They desperately need a new voice and different set of eyes. Popkins would be better served going to Wichita and earning his stripes there before he's up with the Twins.
  22. Guess it depends. If Jax is shaking off other pitches and going with the changeup, then it's on him - both selection and location. If Jeffers is calling for it and Jax serves up a meatball, its on both of them.
  23. Just a bad team in every facet.
  24. Going to be such a long season.
