  1. Irvin's stuff is meh, at best. Twins should tee off on this guy.
  2. Twins can't afford to have an anemic offense and also the keystone cops in the infield.
  3. I don't think so. It's a small sample size and the Dodgers are a traveling all-star team.
  4. Yeah, I don't think there's much more to it than meets the eye. They need to be careful with Alcala. Coming off a doubleheader with Varland and Paddack pitching, you're going to need as many fresh arms as you can get.
  5. Yeah, I'm not understanding the plan. Play your best hitters. If Kirilloff can't hit Irvin then there's bigger problems with his long-term outlook. We're not talking about an ace or even a #2 or #3 starter. The guy is hittable. Give AK a chance.
  6. I hope so. Get the W tonight, see what happens tomorrow and give yourself a chance to win the series with Pablo on the mound. If they can come home from this trip at 8-9 with the Tigers and White Sox due up at Target Field, I'd call it a success.
  7. At some point, guys just have to start hitting their career average. No one is going to mistake Margot, Farmer, Santana and Buxton for Juan Soto or Mookie Betts, but they also shouldn't be mistaken for AAA hitters and that's what they resemble right now. There's a reason why Lewis, Julien and Wallner looked like world-beaters when they were called up last year and why Martin looks more confident at the plate than Buxton does.
  8. I'd agree with this. I think the next couple of weeks loom large. There's a book on Rodriguez now, or at least there will be one soon and pitchers will have a scouting report. Adjustments will be made and he'll have to counter. How well he does that (or not) will determine how soon he's called up. With that said though, I'm not sure he could be much worse than the Twins' current collection of outfielders - including #25.
  9. Was bullish on Varland to start the season and its hard to change your opinion after starts against the Brewers and the Dodgers. He wasn't necessarily awful in either start and the performances were what you would expect from a 5th starter. But, with that said, I think competition is a good thing and the Twins will undoubtedly keep an open mind when it comes to SWR.
  10. Perhaps and maybe he does need more time to get into a groove but he just looks utterly lost right now. And they can't afford him to be an automatic out.

  12. Royals lost. Guardians won. So 3.5 out. This week will be interesting. Royals get the gift of White Sox. Tigers get Texas before going to Minneapolis. Guardians go to Boston. My goal would be 9-11 or 10-10 at the 20 game mark.
  13. Not just basing it off today but I wish they'd move off Thielbar once everyone is healthy and ready to go. Sands deserves to stick around. And I doubt they dump Jackson with his guaranteed K.
  14. Still too many strikeouts especially looking. There's no plan right now at the plate. The common denominator continues to skate by.
  15. Buxton needs to wake up at the plate with Correa and Lewis out. That narrative last year about not playing in the field impacting his hitting, it's looking like pure nonsense.
  16. Also, Baez should not have seen a pitch that wasn't bounced to home plate. Three run lead. Don't even come close to the zone. Unforced mistakes across the board today.
  17. This. Thought for sure Thielbar would come in and face Carpenter. Very odd decision by Rocco or maybe it isn't odd considering his track record.
  18. Yesterday, a lot of positive vibes. Today, none. That's baseball though. Gotta manage to win the series in Baltimore and come home for two very winnable series.
  19. While this team is better on paper than the team in 2021, this season is bringing back unpleasant memories of a group that started slow and never got on track. The division figures to give the Twins every opportunity to get right but games like this one sting.
  20. Long term, if you have Funderburk and Okert, there is zero reason to have Thielbar on the roster. I don't think he's going anywhere though and that's a mistake.
  21. But again, they scored three runs. There were chances to extend the lead a little bit. Pitching will keep them in games but games like today will happen when you have an anemic offense.
