Yeah, that's the bigger issue though - the Twins never seem to be in a rush to get their prospects up to the majors. I'd love to see what E-Rod can do, but just not happening without a shift in organizational philosophies. If it wasn't Bader, it would be someone else. -
Are we sure Martin's better than Bader at the plate? Marginal difference in OPS and even if Martin matched the number of AB's, he projects to fall short in power / run producing.

They won 82 games last year and that was with Correa, Lewis and Ryan missing extended periods of time. Admittedly, the first two names aren't going to be confused with Cal Ripken in terms of durability, but the ceiling is higher than 86 wins, IYAM.

As for Martin, he had some nice catches last year - but he also looked like a deer in headlights at various times. Will never get that from Bader and I'd lean towards giving Bader AB's over Martin. Yes, Martin is younger but I'm not sure there's much upside.

Agreed. But, it is what it is until there's new ownership.

In the 2023 post-season, Bader was huge for the Yankees. Admittedly, he didn't too much with the Cardinals when they were in the post-season but the Twins have usually lacked 'gamer' types that can rise to the occasion when you least expect it.

Canha's a pro. In terms of his clubhouse presence, I don't think that's anything to worry about. Besides, you have Correa and Buxton as the clear leaders. There won't be issues. In terms of on-field, he's better than the in-house alternatives, but not by much.

I like Coulombe. Good move for the Twins. How many bullpen spots - I think we're looking at 8... Duran / Jax / Sands / Stewart / Alcala / Topa / Coulombe Last spot goes to: Varland, Funderburk, Tonkin, Castellano, Henriquez, Headrick?

Of course the Twins are interested in Cease. But that's likely the case for a lot of teams. I still don't put much stock into the rumor. Acquiring Cease would likely necessitate one, if not more, from the following group: Woods-Richardson, Festa, Keaschall, Rodriguez, Jenkins. If Cease came with a contract extension, then perhaps you consider it. But a one-year rental isn't enough to deplete your depth and prospect pool.

I thought the initial reports about Vazquez were more speculating about Cease as opposed to being rooted in fact. I'd be all for it. I just think this is a case of a speculative piece of journalism being aggregated. Vazquez to the Padres? Sure. More than feasible. But Cease's involvement? I'm not buying it.

I still have PTSD from Zebby's start against Toronto - IIRC, he gave up like 7 runs before he got the first out. Paddack at this current price point is more than reasonable to be in the bullpen and a spot starter. Unfortunately, I don't think the Twins feel the same way.

Paddack in the bullpen always seemed like the logical move, but at that salary, I can see the Twins having other ideas.

Doesn't it take catchers a while to develop? Dodgers seem to have given up him a little early. Not necessarily sure that this means Vazquez is gone. I think it's an example of taking a flier on a once elite prospect at a position that could use an infusion of talent throughout the minor league system.

I would be surprised if the Tigers traded him to the Twins...unless the Twins made an insane offer, and I don't think they would. All things being equal, trade him outside the division.

Bernardino makes a lot of sense for the Twins. Seems like his name has popped up quite a bit in recent off-season trade rumors.

Considering that Correa's contract starts to decrease in value, IIRC in 2026, unless the foot injuries end his career, and they could, he might be with the Twins for the rest of his contract - including the team option years.

Yup. Agreed. He's close with Buxton. Likes Rocco. He knew what he was getting when he re-signed with the Twins. He may not have anticipated payroll cuts but I think he understood that he wasn't going to be playing for a team with a top 5 payroll. Going to the Yankees opens a can of worms.

Are the Twins even listening? Sounds like teams are circling Correa because of the potential sale and the Pohlad's being notoriously cheap - doesn't mean the Twins are paying much attention or giving it any real thought.

I don't think Correa's being traded. A lot of this smoke is coming from the N.Y. media that is presuming the Yankees are going to try and make a significant move in wake of Soto picking the Mets. They might indeed make a big move but it won't be Correa.
