  1. Back on the ground. Didn't expect a 4-4 tie. Didn't expect Duran back on the mound!
  2. Okert tabbed as the starter. Presumably, Festa to follow.
  3. I'm traveling for work today. When I land, I'll check the carnage.
  4. Festa and Stewart back... Castillo (IF) DFA'ed and Henriquez back to St. Paul... Topa on a rehab stint. Will be curious to see who gets the boot if / when he's back.
  5. Duran is a problem. Not sure if he's hurt or in his own head. But he hasn't looked right all season. Stewart and Topa become that much more important.
  6. Duran taking two steps backwards this season is an unexpected development and might be the biggest reason they miss the post season.
  7. No one this team outside of Correa and Lewis have the clutch gene.
  8. An awful loss that will bite them in the ass at season's end. Jeffers, take note of what a professional at bat looks like.
  9. Clase and Duran are the difference between the Twins and Cleveland this season.
  10. Yeah, that's true. They may not have the luxury of setting the rotation before the post-season. But, if they're lucky enough to do that - Ober in game one isn't a bad idea.
  11. There's a lot what if's in your post, bean. Miranda hasn't been able to 'directly replace' Santana's plate appearances due to injuries to Lewis and Kirilloff. Under the current circumstances, Santana's absolutely needed. Ironically enough, to just presume that Miranda would be the direct replacement without considering other factors - that's looking at things in a vacuum.
  12. Hot take: Bailey Ober is the Twins' best pitcher and if there's a game one in the post-season, he should start it.
  13. IIRC, the Dodgers DFA'ed Paxton because they needed or wanted to move some pitchers back from the IL. I don't necessarily think they're looking for a major league player or even someone that they need to put on their 40 man roster. They might be content with the low minor lottery ticket.
  14. Don't think you'll see Severino in a deal for Paxton.
  15. Front office takes a lot of heat - some of it, rightfully so - but Santana at $5M is a complete steal and the Twins' season would look a lot different (in a bad way) without him.
  16. I'll add this - while I'm not a Paxton fan - I'd sure as hell would prefer him to Louie or Festa as the 5th starter. While Festa might be the future and while Varland is an in-house option that doesn't cost you prospect capital, they're way more likely to completely implode in a big spot than Paxton is.
  17. Whether we like it or not, Paxton is near the bar that the Twins' front office is going to set. If a pitcher is added, this is the 'type' of pitcher the Twins will get. Insurance if Paddack is out for an extended period of time, or in the alternative if he does return healthy, Paddack can be shifted to the bullpen where his stuff will play in 1-2 inning stints down the stretch and into October.
  18. Good find on the pitch count. Ideally, you have him out by the 4th-5th inning and its a close game.
  19. Big opportunity for Sim. He's kept the Twins in nearly every game he's started - the Phillies will be the biggest challenge to date especially because runs are going to be really hard to come by against Wheeler.
  20. They desperately need a starting pitcher. I tend to think it will be Paxton.
