What Should the Twins Do About Their Bullpen?
DuluthDuke replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins are in an Andrew Albers year. Loved his story. Loved his persistence. Love that he secured an mlb pension. But each year he appeared for the twins (3x!) the season was lost. It's time to trade anyone of value who won't be here in 27 (if there's a 27) and let the Raya's, Klein's, Culpepper's and dare I say Rozak's take their lumps and see what we've got Same with Larnach, Jeffers, Bell. Bring up the Roden's, Sabato's, Culpepper's and let them take their lumps and see what they can do. To the future, not a false 'this year' PLAY THE KIDS- 84 replies

I appreciate the Twins taking a low cost chance on Lawrence and then cutting him when it wasn't working. Much better to try out a 31 year old like Lawrence than a 39 year old like Garcia or 37 year old Hendricks or 36 year old Chaffin. So, Rojas for Lawrence Next up.. Rozek for Adams - taking Lawrence's 40 man spot Lefty, breathing, local 'kid', 1.194 whip in St. Paul, 34 k's in 36 IP, mult inning guy.. Adams has been scored on in 5 of his last 8 appearances and 7 of 13 overall..

No. No. No. If there is a serious injury to 60 day Lee or Keashall or Grey stops hitting enough to stay, sure then add him to the 40 man roster and bring him up. If not... Arcia is in the same category of Hendricks and Chaffin this spring - best days are behind him. His best use is 26th man on a contending team, not on a team fighting to stay .500 this year. Play the kids...

I don't understand why Garcia is still being rostered... 39 years young,. ERA north of 14. Given up 9 hits in 5.1 Innings as a Twin and zero, count em zero K's. Mets dumped him when he had 4 k's and an ERA of 7+ in 6+ innings. Turn him into a coach if he's so valuable and play the kids. I have no idea who Raul Brito is but he's striking out a batter per inning with the Saints, lets see what he can do... Maybe he has an MLB future. Mr. Garcia does not. We'll see on the Varland trade long term but short term does anyone think he would keep the bullpen afloat by himself? Ober to ? to ? to Varland?

Garcia was worth a flyer, I guess, but its okay to move on from struggling 39 year olds. If he wants to stick around like Carlos Carrasco in AAA for the Braves, fine. Call up Bowman from AAA, he has been the most effective Saints pitcher even at age 34. If we're going to ditch Banda - which I don't think we should, yet - might I suggest adding Aaron Rozek. Organization guy, Minnesota guy, left handed, breathing and has been effective between AA and AAA this year at age 30.

Can This Saints Standout Help The Twins Right Now?
DuluthDuke replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It would be difficult for Fedko to be worse than Outman so why not give him a try at least until Lewis is back. Then decide if Kreidler or Fedko is the 26th man..- 33 replies

Anyone else remember when we opened the season with Tippy Martinez, Joe Niekro and Steve Carlton in the bullpen? 600 wins and 130 saves between them and all were toast and gone by the end of April with era's over 10. Experience has its place but a pen full of mid 30s guys is, uhh, suboptimal. It's ok to move on from from the once golden oldies..

Hey Funderburk gets the job! Good move Twins. No offense to either but ditching 36 and 37 year olds on a non competitive team is the right direction. Now about adding Lawyerson... :)

I'm interested to see what Cody Lawerson can do. Pitched well at the end of 2025 in MLB and has pitched well in Spring Training this year. Seems like he could produce at least as well Hartwig or Bowman and can be optioned. With a bullpen full of +30 guys Twins surely going to have a lot of fill in opportunities this year..

No offense to Mr. Gray who may be the nicest man on earth but I'm just not clear why we'd trade anyone resembling catching depth for a soon to be 30 year old utility infielder. Seems like we could have claimed Fitzgerald back a few days ago for no prospect and received similar value. 22 mlb games played between 3rd and SS and 111 mlb at bats doesn't seem to rate an AA prospect.

BREAKING: Twins Dismiss Manager Rocco Baldelli
DuluthDuke replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Rocco always struck me as a nice guy but I'd sure like someone with some experience managing (majors or minors) in 2026. Don't need 3 in a row with no managing experience. Coaching just isn't the same as being the head guy. My concern is they'll continue/finish the fire sale and it'll be 1982 all over again. I don't really want to wait until 2030 for a chance at at .500 record. -

Mr. Albers was a fun guy to root for. In 2013 when the twins had Thielbar, Colabello and Albers, Indy leagures all, on the roster it was both a great and terrible time. I always knew when Andrew was on the way our up season was doomed but I was happy to seem him back in MLB anyway. He signed with Seattle in 2022 but failed his physical. His ERA was 3.51 with Seattle btw, not 5.51.

I don't see any harm in giving him a shot. Bride is hitting .206 for the Twins with no power. We can cycle the last bullpen guy rather than keeping him around to pitch occasionally. Guys without a true position have a hard time breaking through. Rick Short comes to mind. Called up 1st time at 32 after hitting .383 & .456 OBP in AAA. Hit .400 in very brief run in DC. Hit .314, .330, .332 next 3 years in Japan age 33-35. Twins could use someone like that, why not find out if Mr. Gasper can be a MLB hitter...
