  1. To watch all (or as much as possible) of the MLB post-season, you need four different channels/stations/subscriptions: - TBS - MLB Network - FS1 - Fox (broadcast.) And that is ridiculous nowadays with so many contract disputes happening.
  2. What are the chances Duffy or May close out some of these games over Rogers? I hope Baldelli will use Rogers where he's needed (runners on with Brett Gardner up in the 7th, for example) versus saving our lefty closer for a ninth inning where he may face three batters with OPS above 840 against lefties.
  3. I wish Dobnak could change his jersey number from 68 to 4.99/5.00.
  4. If Gibby is a reliever, he needs to start a clean inning. He's had some success doing that versus his disaster in Cleveland coming in with runners on in a tight game. Start the game or come in and let him throw one inning with no pressure of having to go back out for multiple. His slider is a swing-and-miss pitch; he should throw that 30-50% of the time in a relief appearance.
  5. My one suggestion to Dobnak: change the glasses to black; add white tape to the center; ask the NY (or Houston) media to call you "Randy Hanson." And then throw the first pitch of the game behind the back of the leadoff hitter.
  6. I predict within five years little leaguers all around Minnesota will be shaking their heads at ball calls, walking a 360 around the batter's box and umpire when they take a strike they don't like, and requesting to wear #2 on their jerseys.
  7. If you're going to have a bullpen game, give Gibson or Perez the chance to either: start with an extremely short leash (like, two-hits or two-walks in a row short leash); or have a starter like Dobnak or Smeltzer, and bring in Gibson or Perez in the second or third (clean inning, nothing with runners on.)
  8. If there's a better thing on Twitter right now than the Titanic mashup, I haven't seen it.
  9. I just think it's kinda cool that the three teams leading their NL Divisions are all past World Series opponents for the Twins: Dodgers ('65), Cardinals ('87), and Braves ('91.) A rematch against any of them would be fun and bring out the nostalgia.
  10. From http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility - Teams carry extra players throughout the postseason in the event of injuries, and those players, as well as players on the injured list, can be in the dugout during games, within reason. So Astudillo travels in case Garver or Castro go down with an injury, to be available the next game. He could probably even be a bullpen catcher or warm-up catcher if needed.
  11. If Astudillo is not on the 25-man player roster for the playoffs, is it possible they keep him on as a coach/cheerleader on the bench?
  12. I remember faking an illness in high school when ESPN played a marathon of these back in the day (late-90s, pre-OnDemand days.)
  13. The reason this is an unwritten rule is because if you wrote it down, the majority of people would read it and proclaim it a stupid rule. Don't want to give up a hit? Don't throw a hittable pitch.
  14. I've always been a proponent of moving Kepler (and before that, Dozier) out of the lead-off spot, but honestly it takes a certain mentality to bat lead-off. Garver didn't seem to have it when he first started batting lead-off against lefties earlier this season, but it has seemed to finally come to him. The eye test says that Arraez would probably flourish there. But we know for a fact that Kepler is doing just fine there. I wouldn't move him.
  15. Still waiting to hear of a players-only meeting, hopefully called by Nelson Cruz. Telling the team to relax, have fun, trust their teammates... Maybe politely suggest to Rosario and Garver that swinging at the first pitch when a clutch-hit is needed isn't the best idea in the world?
  16. Winning a 2-1 game is nice. It shows the Twins don't have to hit 5 homeruns a game to win. Was it as nice as their 1-0 win against the Astros? No, because those games are supposed to be close. But it was still nice. Duffy, Romo, and Rogers all looked confident out there.
  17. I just don't want Puig getting pissed in an upcoming Twins/Indians series and rushing the mound at Rogers or Harper. Sano is going to have to be on "hired goon" dirty those games. Still thinking Twins will land MadBum or Minor.
  18. Last game at the Dome of the 1987 regular season. Bert Blyleven put runners at the corners with no outs in the first. George Brett hits a hot-shot to Gaetti; to Newman at second for one; Newman ignores all baseball logic and throws home for the atypical 5-4-2 double-play. Then Puckett, Gaetti, and Hrbek all go yard in the bottom of the first, and the Twins clinch a tie for first in the AL West. (Maybe that's just the greatest inning in Twins' baseball?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaFsAboGwfM
  19. Twins also took the season series from the Houston Astros, 4 games to 3.
  20. I'd like to see Luis Arreaz get a shot in the 1 or 2 hole int he batting lineup tonight. He's the one batter who consistently takes a ton of pitches. Let him work the count and get Polanco, Cruz, Rosario, Kepler, and Sano a chance to see all the pitches before they bat. And moving Kepler down against righties gives him the chance to do more damage with runners on-base.
  21. I both dread and anticipate the rest of this series...
  22. They're only 3 games back in the Wild Card race, but they'd have to leap over five-six other teams to get there (including three in their own division.) They're still currently 4 games under .500. I think they're selling, it just might be another week or two before they do. (And I hope the Twins only take Smith instead of a Smith/Bumgarner combo, personally.)
  23. Orlando Cabrera was a smart trade for the Twins in 2009. A positive locker room presence with postseason experience. Had a great Game 163 with a homer on offense and line-drive double play with runners at the corners in the top of the 9th.
  24. I just want to see a Cleveland Indians' fan wearing an "American League Rust Belt Champion" shirt at some point in the future.
