  1. So what. the point you clearly missed is that either pitcher would be claimed.
  2. No. Light will be claimed. Park will be claimed. Chargois would be claimed. Any Twin on the 40 man not named Danny Santana will be claimed when designated for assignment. Arcia and Walker were claimed After Ryan ORourke made a triumphant return to the majors, how could you not look at any Twin castoff and not see success? Well, except for Danny Santana
  3. There is a lot of quantity in the pen. If Kinzler is your closer and Pressly and the signee are your set up guys, quality is a definite problem.
  4. It would seem weird that the Twins would release Park. It is not like they have another prospect at a high level other than Vargas. Why would you eat the money and have no players. Clearly if someone thinks that Park has MLB potential, Park would have some trade value when or if he performs.
  5. Not placing a player on the minor league dl makes a team incompetent? Yikes
  6. When you look at fangraphs top 24 Twin prospects, 13 of them are 21 and under. By their system of evaluations, the FV value is low because they are so far from the majors. Are they going to be "top 10" minor league players.? No. The system also shows a bias towards near ready prospects. Are the Twin's prospects going to be worse major league players than those on the current top 10 list. IDK and neither does anyone else at this point. MLB pipeline's list is different than Laws. Unbunch the undies. After the first few, it is a guess.
  7. One size does not fit all approach is what is most encouraging. It would be interesting to know the injury rates for the different levels of workout routines.
  8. There will always be the useless debate in the winter over what player should the team draft. There is still a college season to go
  9. How about alternative truth.?
  10. Hughes as horrible pitcher. He has been in mlb since 2007. 63 out of 806 starters in accumulated WAR over that time period. To avoid the cherry picking name he is ranked 257 out of 806 starters in fip. In 52 place in wins as a starter. If you think he has given up more home runs than any good pitcher shoud, Shields, Hammel, Hamels,, Cain, King Felix, Verlander as well as a few more notable Cy Young winners have given up more HR than Hughes over that time period. So if Hughes is horrible, what does that make over 400 other starters
  11. http://www.twincities.com/2017/01/28/minnesota-twins-still-counting-on-jorge-polanco-at-shortstop/
  12. Stature as an issue. 6 foot versus 6 2. What is the difference in pitching at those heights. So are the real major league front office types or screen dwellers looking at computers making pronouncements that you quote
  13. Houston has made a lot of trades. Which one has helped their long term future? Inactivity is better than siphoning off your talent for little return.
  14. Stats only guys look at numbers and not much deeper. Using Cameron's logic,, Kendall Graveman should be doing as well as Shields (before last year). Did not happen. The Cameron's of the world can be high on a player as a minor leaguer but it is it is a view through a dot in a piece of paper.
  15. You are right that no prospect is a sure thing. Glad you can admit that. How do you then miss that is the very reason you need more than a De Leon for Dozier
  16. Mejia has a ceiling that was said to be a mid rotation pitcher. Deleon has the same ceiling. Neither is likely to be that anytime soon. Deleon is more likely than Mejia to reach that ceiling. Neither is really a sure thing. Mid rotation guys are the 1 to 2 War pitchers that occasionally sneak a better year in. A 1-2 war player for 6 years does not equal Dozier for 2 years .
  17. No, Levi stated a midseason trade of a position player in the off season nets more than the midseason trades. 2 players recently traded in both the off season and midseason showed this to be false by the prospect's performance at the major league level versus the prospect ratings. I did forget to add the Mets gave up something of worth for Bruce mid season and now appear unable to trade him for much. I would hint that you should go look up the historical performance of prospects outside of the top 20. You would care less about the rankings.
  18. At what point does a prospect differentiate between integral part of a club and a spare part? They can stay on as spare parts. The make is counting on them to be a back of bullpen pitchers rather than arms.
  19. I really don't give a rat's tush what the prospects were rated at. When they hit the big league it is what happens there. Dombrowski obviously was a better judge of talent than the ranking systems who can't spot a rookie of the year. Rankings do not matter. The return by what is on the field in Zobrist and Cespedes cases say the return on a midseason trade was better. Manaea at the deadline trade. about the 50th to 80th best prospect, For 2016 and not even for a full season he was a top 15 for left handed pitching. Billy knew a little more than the so called experts making rankings.
  20. The only thing that really, really needs to go right is the baseball when the Twins are on defense. When the ball is going left it could be a disaster
  21. There really is no deadline for the trade. All along they have said that they wanted to be blown away. When that gets met, Dozier is gone.
  22. It is make or break time for Wheeler, Baxendale, Wimmers,, Hildenberger, Melotakins and Jones. They have been around a long time. It would be time for them to rise or move on. The really should be one to rise and have people swear that Ryan was the only thing holding them back. Goodrum beating out Danny Santana
  23. The Rays were not contending with Price. Replacing him in the rotation with Smyly is not going to keep the team at the same level. Adams was a low minor top 100 prospect, Nick Franklin was still a recent top 100 prospect at the time of the trade.
  24. It is not unreasonable to think that the teams trading for Cespedes and Zobrist in the middle of the year gave up more than what teams gave up during the off season
  25. Smyly <<<<<< Moncada as a headliner upside guy. 2.5 major league seasons for Smyly should have been enough to show he was at best a good starter but never going to be a headliner
