  1. If you wait 2 hours for food it is because the tron thinks your a total tool and wants you to leave. After an hour of no food, the help will have a pool going on how long you will wait. Your food will come to you moist yet dry at the same time if you make a big enough stink. Bad analogy If it is championship or nothing I would hate to see the posting on the Vikings half century of futility or the 40 years of hockey futility.. Being impatient over something you have no control over is odd
  2. People without names pulling out of the running left and right. Maybe, maybe not. Whatever innuendo you need to fit your point and go with it.
  3. If I were a player was not getting better due to getting bad coaching, a player would have to be pretty thick not to put 2 and 2 together and not work with a coach in the off seasons
  4. I am really sorry you keep missing the multiple times I have posted that Walker and Palka have no value as trade fodder if they come up and fail. As both have been in the minors for several years and never once made it to a top 100 by any service other than a top 100 Twins prospect list, it would stand to reason they are a high risk, high reward prospect.. The reason to not bring them up has nothing to do with Schaffer as it protecting their value.
  5. To be his power To not be the wiff machine
  6. We? Nope, I had no say in the matter. Pohlad likely had the say in the matter. Any GM or similarly job descripted person with a new fangled title should be aware of any team will have an owner that writes the checks and will have a say over the team. Wilpon had to pay off his Madoff debt, Rickets had to pay down the purchase of his team. 2 large market teams with below average payrolls. GM, President, Grand Poohbah will not have complete control. Any large outlay likely has to get approval from the owner. Follow the money
  7. How do you know he was the one who chose them?
  8. So by some sort of magic Walker is going to strike out less against better pitching ? By some sort of voodoo he will increase his walk rates. Walker is going to do what no one has done before because you can't find one yet insist it can happen.
  9. Since you appear to not have followed along the thread and commented, here is the question I posed to someone else. What part of 38% strikeout rate in the minors does not translate to a major league ballplayer is too tough to figure out? What non catcher, non pitcher is going to get by with that strikeout rate. You can't answer it with a good player.
  10. Since you interjected in my last exchange with Twins North I made the foolish assumption that you would have read the last post I put in. The question is there.
  11. Yup, No in season promotions. High K rates that keep climbing with promotions. It would be rare for K rate to go down. What major league player has had success with a 40% K rate. Very few have had a long career with a 30% K rate.
  12. The OP said drafted players That leaves an OF of Span, Hicks, Revere, and Buxton. After the short experiment of a couple years ago at 2b, Rosario would be infield with Dozier Valencia, Plouffe Mauer and Morneau. Catching, AJ and Herrmann. I did not see any other position players that were drafted but still playing. If it were still the system of drafted players playing for 1 team for a career then the team would still be owned by the Griffiths and Cuddyer and Hunter would still have to be playing for an income. (jokin about the last two) Starters Garza, Gibson, Berrios, Duffey and Dean. Bullpen would be your choice of 8 of the following Perkins, Neshek Tonkin, Chargois, Rodgers, O"rourke, Manship, Swarzak, Wimmers, Achter and Darnell. Maybe one of the relievers would be a starter instead of Dean. Maybe by now Wheeler would be up. The 40-120 Mets record might be shattered with that pitching staff. Now if you include the "amateur " free agents, you can add the Keplers, Polancos, Sano, but I really don't think that 12-13 of the best batters on that list is going to overcome that pitching staff, even with Albers generously added as an amateur free agent because I can't think of any starter that the Twins signed as a free agent that would set up a scenario where the offense wouldn't have to be scoring double digit runs most games
  13. Jose Bautista and JD Martinez, multiple major league failures before they got it right say hello. Shaffer is not their equivalent in base talent but no one has ever claimed that or this player is the ticket. When North can't answer the question perhaps you can.
  14. What part of 38% strikeout rate in the minors does not translate to a major league ballplayer is too tough to figure out? What non catcher, non pitcher is going to get by with that strikeout rate. Sano is at 35%. Sano's worst full season in the minors was 29% which he improved to 23% in AA before being called up. There are current players hovering near 30% For Palka and Walker that would mean when jumping to the majors these players would be having a significant improvement in their K% when these players have shown increases as they progress up the levels in their strikeout percentages.
  15. What is team defense and why do you think the team can win without it?
  16. Again, a few AB before Buxton came back up should be no bid deal. Not even 2 dozen AB. Making mountains out of a grain a sand. There is nothing but opinion that the Twins would be better or worse off with playing time to Walker or Palka at the major league level. Sub par defense, sub par contact. With the Millones of the world excelling in AAA, Albers, Dean and the like being above average AAA pitchers I am not going to get excited about 2 guys that similar pitchers to those three have padded their K% statistics with. It just does not bode well for them at the major league level. Yes there are many outfielders in the system not named Shaffer. If at the beginning of the year anyone had faith in more than a couple of them, there wouldn't be the Logan Shaffer, Mastroiannis, or Bensons signed. AB Walker has had a whole year to shine, bring up his level of play. Did not happen. A comparable found to Walker would be Moya from Detroit. Most would say who? That is Walker's upside. Mountains out of a grain of sand because that is what some people do in bad situations.
  17. More than corner outfielders bat in the lineup, so it is not just one corner outfielder striking out a lot. As I said earlier, with September call ups, Schaffer's AB will be minimal
  18. So the Twins would only have one player striking out at a high rate? Are you sitting Sano? 2 players with high strikeout rates against minor league pitching. It is not going to get better. 2 players with BABIP over 90 points higher than their batting averages. Far better they have a mystery about their pro level chances than bring them up and remove all doubt. The only thing they have going for them is that they can hit bad minor league pitching.
  19. So the argument shifts from it should have been Walker/Palka to Buxton.
  20. huh? Rosario and Kepler are on the big league club, they were arguing a minor league corner outfielder should have been brought up. Sorry for the unnecessary ambiguity. . Although Rosario at second base would fit in the Maddon scheme of things, that is another thread and a subject wisely avoided discussing further here. Shaffer in a MLB career a little longer than a season has a DRS greater than all but a few outfielders. His impact could be a little bit better than catching the ball a couple times more. Defense really doesn't matter?
  21. If people like the OP continually post things that are implausible there will be plenty of material for people to comment on said implausibility and thus be called front office bobos. The continued use of cherry picked stats while ignoring all of the rest of the numbers available about a player is an insanity that should be stopped. One can only state there was no market for a player and why so many times. One can only say so many times a player that has spent part of the year injured and is having a poor statistical season when reading a player should have been traded by the deadline. That number of times is fast approaching the number of hair follicles on Dozier's head, who will be next year's should have been traded for anything player. Trevor May. LOB % 65. WHIP 1,5 Yes he has a wonderful FIP as a starter. Great K%. Good K-BB%. The ERA is horse poo because the lob% is low. The number of players who get on base is higher than average. Do you think maybe May Must not be able to pitch with players on base? Nolasco disease. Great peripheral number,s lousy results 3 numbers are why May was sent to the pen. They are the wrong three numbers to be on the wrong side of league average on in aggregate. So please, stop the insanity of one number or two as an indication that a pitcher is good while ignoring every other one.
  22. Yes sir. The Cardinals have also been moving infielders to the outfield upon many occasions. Such a proven stupid organization,, right? Yet some people get so upset at infielders in the outfield while teams have been doing this before. Jump on the bandwagon early. You , too, can be a leader. Remember platoons in the era of DH and 13 people pitching staffs falling pretty much by the wayside. Oakland had some success and people here started talking about how the stupid Twins were with their platoons or lack of. Cuban players. The first few signed and then the comments started to fly. Why aren't the Twins signing them was a familiar rant, a well as" I want a Cuban". Overshifts all the time was the rage . Not as discussed now. Get behind the multi position player concept before the trend starts in full blast. Once a trend starts, all sorts of ridiculous things will be proposed.
  23. Albers has pitched 2 shutouts in his major league career, although one game was only 8.1 innings and the other was a complete game. Gol dang, the Twins better throw him out there every 5th day because ya never know when he might get another. They are going to rue the day they let Brian Duensing get away, he pitched a couple of shutouts. Yup, pitching a shutout is the thing to keep you in the starting rotation
  24. I don't see anyone prizing flexibility over talent. You can indict the Twins were their multi position players not working as multi position players but the truth is that they were not good at any position on a team that lacked talent. There may have been a perceived potential. Alas, the potential went unmet. If you have players that can play multiple positions it does help the situational hitting.
  25. Defense of the other options? Massive strikeouts of the others going to bet better at the major league level? Honestly, how can you say there were other definitive options?
