It looks like both the Twins and the Vikings realize that they're GM's were the problem. Saw Falvey was told hit the road on MLB,then saw on Fox1 that Mensah was also shown the door. And yes Falvey was made President of Operations, but he was the one who blow up the BP at the deadline. And looking at what the BP looks like going into ST there is work to be done. That means the payroll is going to have to either go up or more trades will be needed.
-
Let's be realistic it doesn't matter who is playing if you're BP is empty. As of now they have 4 arms there. The SP after Ryan and Lopez find it difficult to make 5 innings. And yes Ober is still there, but he hasn't looked right for awhile. It looks like they think Festa,Abel and Bradley will be BP pieces. Looking at the division this is a last place team hoping that things go wrong for the others.
-
A lot of wishful thinkers here, even if they keep what they have no BP. This is still a 4th or 5th place team in the central. Their infield is poor defensively and who will be playing the corner OF positions. It might be time for Buxton,Ryan and Lopez to have a meeting with Tom Polhad going around Falvey to see just what the plan is.
-
Signed another bandaid to play 1st again. The infield is shaping up to be the worst in years. The money spent should have been used on the empty BP.

Time to Make a Trade: Swap CJ Abrams for Royce Lewis
David Maro replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Got to enjoy all the talk about Lewis being this and going to be that. How about the fact that he has yet to stay healthy for a season. He is now the replacement for Buxton on IL year after year. It is probably time to see if he is still playing in July and if so trade him then. This team competing for the Central is laughable,it's time to rebuild. -
Let's be honest here, this organization has become a laughing stock and is now going to be dismantled bit by bit. Anytime Equity Co get involved the end is not pretty. They sell everything of value,in this case it will be trading the players with the most money owed. I guess we will see just how the Winter meetings play out.

The Scariest Spot on the Twins’ Depth Chart
David Maro replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The game is won up the middle,Lee has limited range and Keaschall has a stone mite. The other problem is bad ownership and FO. Blow the whole thing up,bring on the youth because this team as is will be in last place anyway.- 36 replies

Grading the Twins' Hiring of Derek Shelton
David Maro replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You can't grade someone until the start of the season. In the first week of the season if he is rotating players all over the diamond like Rocco that will tell a story no fan wants to see. We also have to see if and who he brings in as coaches. That will also show how much Falvey has his hand in things. Changes have to come and that includes coaching and philosophy. The Tigers, Guardians and Royals aren't going anywhere. -
They will be moving Ryan this off season because you can't have a unhappy player in the dugout. His personality is close to Sonny Gray and wouldn't be good. He is not going to waste another year pitching for a last place team. The money owed to Lopez is a problem, but his personality is not a issue for the team. If you trade Jeffers with no one to be primary catcher that's a bad idea. He's bat is not the only thing that will be missed. With all the young SP who he has worked with would have to see change. Again this all comes back to the bad ownership and clueless FO. It will be another unwatchable season of Twins baseball.

We keep beating a dead horse, the more things change the more they stay the same. The only change was the face it's still the same ownership and FO. This is a last place team in a winnable division. No one knows who will be left on this roster by the time ST comes around and they blow smoke all they want.

BREAKING: Twins to Hire Derek Shelton as Manager for 2026
David Maro replied to knothole61's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Falvey will be attaching the strings before the news conference to announce his hiring. He is probably the only one willing to take the job for the money. The organization is such a mess with a roster in flux as well as ownership. If they were looking to put butts in the seats this is not the way to do it.- 250 replies

Road to a Rebound: Matt Wallner
David Maro replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He could be on the trading block like many on this roster. If he remains on the roster take his mite away so he can work on hitting only. Just like Lee he has a big hole in his swing. Every pitcher knows fastballs in the upper zone will get him out. With Lee it's bounce a pitch in front of the plate. He should use a smaller leg kick and not think about hitting the ball 500 ft. -
First of all there is no trade or don't trade of Ryan. He would have been gone at the deadline. Because his fiance was pregnant they waited till now. He is not going to waste another year pitching for a last place team. He wants to win now not years from now. With his personality he would be another Sonny Gray in the dugout. He's preferred team is probably the Giants or the Padres because he is from California. And yes the organization can trade him to whom ever they want but he has been a team guy up to now.

What Will Minnesota Twins Do with Matt Wallner?
David Maro replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The FO needs to have a meeting with him and tell him to lose his mite. Then tell him he is the DH. After that Wallner needs to call Kyle Schwarber and see if he can meet with him. They could sit down and talk hitting. If he only has to work on hitting and not fielding he could have value. Being a good DH is a better option than a part time player.- 101 replies

Road to a Rebound: Brooks Lee
David Maro replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The biggest problem he has is he is a sucker for the pitch bounced in front of the plate. Every pitcher in the league knows it and throws it. The other thing is the manager and coaches only promoted swinging for the fences. If Falvey wants to keep his job then he needs to finish the job and fire all the coaches. All you ever heard was swing as hard as you can and again here you talking about the same thing. If you listen to retired players they say the pitcher is the one who generates the power to hit homeruns. If next years lineup is full of 200-220 hitters look for another 90+ loss season. -
The biggest problem here is that not everyone is a power hitter. There is other places to hit a baseball then over the fence. If you're lineup is hitting between 200-220 because they are all swinging for the fences you will loss games. With the infield shifts used there are big holes to get hits. Instead of swinging for the fences how about playing baseball and hit the other way. Watching this team leave bases loaded again and again without scoring was hard to watch. The worst thing to happen to Lewis was his 2023 grandslam run. He will never see again in his career. If you watched the Brewers loss to the Dodgers it's because they didn't play their game, they tried to play the Dodgers game and lost. The Yankees lost because they tried to beat the Jays by hitting more homeruns. Time to get back to playing baseball not just homerun.

Arbitrary Thoughts: Joe Ryan
David Maro replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Why are we beating a dead horse here. Looking at Ryan's personality it tells you everything you need to know. He will be traded because he is not happy and doesn't want to waste another year on a last place team. Looking at Lopez and Buxton their personality's are different, but maybe after meeting with the FO that could change as well. One more thing that has to be considered is who is going to come in as manager and coaches. If the Polhad's want to gut the team even more the pool of managers will be slim.- 51 replies

This is what happens when you tear a team down to the studs. You end up throwing things against the wall to see what sticks. It will be hard to bring someone from the outside because there are 5-6 better jobs out there. At this time no one knows who will be left on this roster. Hunter was a good player, but does that make him a good manager. He may just become another yes man for Falvey. And when you look back at Molitor that was high on Falvey's reason to dismiss him. Molitor was not the yes man Falvey wanted. And watching a organization full of yes people you see a unwatchable team.
