    He's currently too valuable as the "mop up guy" long reliever, after our starters get shelled. Leave him in the pen...for now.

    It makes for a very, very, long season when things start out like this. Could things somehow turn around? I guess it's possible...heck, anything is possible, but I really can't see it happening. Ownership and the FO let the team and the fanbase down, but they don't swing the bat or pitch...that's on the players. This is an organizational failure, from top to bottom. Everyone. All the progress that was made last season, is totally gone. Changes need to be made.

    Louie needs to get it together today. If he gets shelled again, I really think he has to get yanked out of the rota. You just can't keep sending him out there to get killed. C'mon Louie...give us 6 shoutout innings!

    Meares was a decent ss for us for a number of years. Not spectacular, just solid. I always liked him as a player. He didn't last long with the Pirates after he got hurt, which was a shame.

    I completely forgot that Backman played for the Twins in 89.
