  1. Falvey's job, at this point, is to put the lipstick on the pig.
  2. It might be too soon with Culpepper, but I could see it. They played him at 3rd a day or two ago, and he got to show off his arm from deep at 3rd. He has a cannon that looks as good as Correa's. And he's been pounding the ball, but it's AA. I would like to see Sabato and McCusker on the 26 man. Sabato seems to have unlocked something this year (better late than never) so there's no telling. I wouldn't be surprised at either result with him. You either have something or you're wasting your time. I'm looking for a Wallner-McCusker platoon; I guess that could work at 1st as well as in right field. Something else to think about. What's the status of a lot of these guys concerning the rule 5 draft? It seemed to me that the Twins already had too many intriguing prospect to protect everyone with the 40 man. Now they have added more.
  3. It's too early to call him the second coming of Jake Cave, but I'm already leaning that way. I hope I'm wrong.
  4. Coulombe is nearly 36 years old. The question is "when does the breakdown come?".
  5. About 4 years too late on that one.
  6. I got sick of 10, 11, 14 LOB. They seemed to be going for a seasonal record
  7. Jake Cave tore up AAA, too; I'm not expecting much, but hoping I'm wrong.
  8. Take another look at Sabato. He languished at Wichita until this year, flipped a switch, and is doing well enough at St Paul this year that I expected that he would replace France next year for the Twins.
  9. Is Randballs Stu up to this kind of competition? We'll find out!
  10. I'm wondering how many years before Outman is playing in Korea, ala Jake Cave, who is also a AAA star. I'm such a pessimist!
  11. At this point I need to remind you that, at the start of the season, Falvey (and Levine) had put together what was considered to be, by most, "the best bullpen in baseball". I fully understand the Rocco hate.
  12. Well, gee, when you put it like that, it sounds kinda dumb.
  13. You're one of those glass-half-full kind of guys! Two or three things could be happening. One is the new owners are even cheaper than the Pohlads. Two is the new owners have a plan to rebuild from the studs. Three is the Pohlads want to wring every Penney out of the club before they sell.
  14. I hope nobody thinks standing pat before the trade deadline is an option. What's that old saying about doing the same thing over and over? So, there are two options, buy or sell unless you like how things have been going. Do you really think adding a 1/2 season rental will do much for the Twins? Me neither. So, can the front office find some top prospects that will help next year? Who stays and who goes? Stay tuned!
  15. Encarnacion-Strand is playing 3rd at Cincy's AAA affiliate (Coumbus?). I noticed that when he made a throwing error just as I turned on the Saints game. Steer was never going to be known for his glove, and is carrying a sub 7.0 OPS. The Twins just about broke even in that trade, and they are not taking up a 40 man spot.
  16. Jax is 2-3 years older than Duran which, to me anyway, means you are correct
  17. France has been a beast with RISP. It burns me to see the Twins losing the LOB battle constantly, so I appreciate that. But, yeah, he doesn't hit much otherwise. He had a reputation of being a real "Clank" (the sound of the ball hitting his glove) at first, but I haven't seen much evidence of that. There are enough prospects in the system that they might deal France before the deadline.
  18. Earlier this year I tuned in to a Cedar Rapids game. They had Amick at first, DeBarge at second, Culpepper at short, De Andrade at third, Gonzalez in right, and Winokur in center. I thought "the future looks good for the Twins". I hope I live long enough (77years old) to see it play out.
