  1. Dozier likes to ambush leadoff first pitches late in games.
  2. The Twins and Royals are in Game 7 of their series, tied up 3-3. Let's get a win and advance.
  3. Nice thread IndianaTwin. May your second gamethread be as fruitful as your first. Now, for some math. This KC pitcher has a 32:2 K:BB rate since the All-Star Break. That's positively Hughesian.
  4. The DBacks' 13-game win streak is in jeopardy, down 8-0 to Padres. Check that, they've scored 5 to make it 8-5 in the sixth. In the AL, the Yankees, Orioles, Rays, and Royals all lost. Angels down 4-2 in the 5th. And Sano hitting and taking fielding tomorrow. Good day for the Twins.
  5. Brantly didn't get in until the 9th. Indians 15 straight. Twins two straight wins. Good game. Got lucky in the 9th on the pop up down the line and the not-caught foul tip on Grossman. Hated the bunt by Polanco in the 8th. Especially with cold Rosario and Buxton coming behind. But in general, if you are counting on one hit out of two batters, why not count on that with one fewer out in the inning? It worked out in the end, but that was a poor choice by Molitor. Man, I want Sano to get back.
  6. I've got a crazy theory that inherited runners, if they score, should count towards the former and latter pitcher, on a proportional basis. So if Presley relieves Colón with men on second and third, and both score, for the runner on second, I would give Colón 0.5 runs towards his ERA, and Presley 0.5 towards his. For the runner on third, I would give 0.75 to Colón and 0.25 to Presley. It's not a perfect system, by many measures...but it's better than the current system, which doesn't make any sense at all.
  7. Here are post All-Star stats for the four main rotation members; Ervin, Berrios, Bartolo, and Gibson: ES: 10 GS 4.04ERA, 62.1IP, 61H, 57K,18BB,1.27 WHIP JB: 10 GS 4.67ERA, 52ip,48H, 53K, 17bb,1.25 BC: 10GS, 3.94, 61.2ip, 76h, 38k, 11bb, 1.41 KG: 8GS, 3.64, 47IP, 49H, 44k, 14bb, 1.34 He has a "repeat" performance tonight against the Royals. Let's hope he can keep this run going.
  8. This may be an example of "if at first you don't succeed, try, try, and try again."
  9. Since I am not a superstitious person, I don't mind noting that the Twins have given up leads of 1, 2, and 3 today, and now have a 4 run lead.
  10. Agreed. Wasn't questioning the pinch hit at all. Winning the game is most important thing by far. Still interested to see if he extends his streak, though.
  11. Thank you. So, a 1-2-3 9th wouldn't be bad in terms of his hit streak. Also, what kind of manager would intentionally walk a player to end his hit streak. Or, how badly would a player like Ty Cobb need to be hated for a manager want to do that?
  12. Is Mauer's hit streak on the line in this game? He was intentionally walked and is seventh up with six outs to go.
  13. Twins now bringing in their defensive replacements.
  14. Lead off man on. Now, no bunting, let's swing the bats and score some runs.
  15. 3 innings left, tied game. Lots of good bench bat options. Come on, boys, let's win this thing!
  16. The replay of that homerun...straight as an arrow, 90 mph, middle in.
  17. Remind me why Molitor keeps using Boshers?
  18. Polanco's foot was out of the batter's box. But he pulled it back.
  19. Good one! Also, nice work on the game intro. Don't worry about the outfield, Byron will catch everything. Speaking of our #3 hitter, has anyone else noticed he doesn't seem inclined to steal 3rd base?
