The sad part is that the youngest guy you listed here is 23 years old (Burdi and Reed), and we're just hoping they're a part of the team by mid-2017/2018. I know injury has played a large part in that, but these guys need to be moved faster when healthy.
Pat Dean has a couple MPH on Albers, but Dean has horrible minor league K numbers, and Albers' minor league numbers are better pretty much across the board. I doubt Pat Dean is ever a regular starter in an MLB rotation.
Good, the least intriguing of the three options. What a surprise. O'Rourke has been good though, and he probably deserves it. I just want to see Pat Light pitch.
I don't think Taylor Rogers is a long reliever, despite him being a starter in the minors. I think he's a late inning guy when a couple left handed hitters are due up.
Isn't it a little funny how Andrew Albers and Pat Dean are basically the exact same pitcher? You can never have too many soft tossing lefties I guess. Edit: I just saw that Albers was DFA'd yesterday.
I would guess it's more of an innings limit, as he only threw 61.2 innings last year, and he's already up to 90.2 this year. He has some pretty low K numbers this year as a starter too, 6.1 K/9, so he might be better off in the bullpen.
I think Vargas is closer to having a good eye and good power. I wasn't the biggest Vargas fan after his first two stints, but the discipline and eye at the plate seems to have improved quite a bit this time around.
Even if ratings are down because the team is losing, how does it make more sense for them to put on shows that no one watches? There's got to be something I'm missing because I can't see a reason why every game for every team is not televised locally.
Turner's never going to hit, so he has to be near elite defensively in order to make an MLB team, and I'm sure he needs to still make improvements in his catching game too.
So Felix Jorge is down to a 3.86 K/9 in 37.1 innings at AA. I'm concerned, but hoping that more experience at the upper levels will lead to increased strikeouts. Overall, this has still been an encouraging season for him, and I would guess that he still projects as a potential back-end pitch-to-contact starter.
