  1. I don't mind Nunez one bit, but I am struggling to find where this guy gets at bats this season if Santana keeps it up. Part of this is wondering also is the Twins play Sano at 3rd once in a while.
  2. Duffey will be a stud if he can develop that change up. Willing to let him work on that in AAA for now. We are stuck with Carlos EnRicky Nolasco. He was never a pitcher who deserved what the Twins gave him, but if he can pitch near the levels he did during any of his best seasons, he would make a nice 4-5 guy. Given the injuries he's had, and his age, this is all up for grabs. If he pitches well, the Twins will keep him. If he pitches crap, noboby will want him. He needs to throw just over a hit an inning, around a low 4 ERA, decent K to BB ratio. Not so great TR will think, we got a keeper, not so bad that nobody will give us a Palka or somesuch for him. Hoping for tradeable mediocrity to a team that has no rotation to speak of.
  3. Berrios, Meyer, Duffey: Rochester starts out with a nice top 3 in their rotation.
  4. When players are assigned to Minor League Camp, are the cut off from the Major League coaches?
  5. My very thought - like Dozier, but I believe he has peaked. It would be a classic trade high scenario.
  6. Find it hard to believe anybody who has been a Twins fan would actually believe spending money on free agents was the key to success. This organization has always lived and died by the quality of its homegrown talent. Looking at the system, it looks like the Twins are on the upswing. When they spend money, it is quite often a fail. Development, and a nice trade thrown in, that has been the Twins way. The difference with Target Field was supposed to be keeping our stars, not poaching other those of other teams.
  7. It all depends on how good Buxton, Gordon, Stewart, and Jay end up being, being the premium draft product of the 4 year tank.
  8. One of the most fun reads I've enjoyed in a while - very nice job of tracking down the loose ends Nick. Just hats off stuff!
  9. Put me in the tiny minority here, but I am not worried about the bullpen...at all. They return a nice late inning combo, and more good arms than can fit in the rotation. Trust the youth, and this will be a team strength I believe.
  10. Who knows, maybe Nolasco will pitch well if he's healthy. Although, looking over his career numbers, I'm amazed the Twins gave him the deal they did. Pitching "well" here would likely be around 150 IP with an ERA around 4.5 and more hits than innings pitched. Pelfreyish.
  11. Fun read - it's never too early to start talking draft IMO, so thanks.
  12. Shaggwaaa - must be a cajun pronounciation. Seems like a good bloke.
  13. He ain't THAT old - he's a year older than Mauer. We've seen Thome and Hunter at Target Field: that's old.
  14. Yes it is. Lots of nice tidbits in there. Gotta love Berrios' confidence.
  15. I'm just hoping the Twins score a lot of runs this season, and a niche bullpen spot will be irrelevant. The lack of a lefty shutdown guy in the Twins BP sure isn't keeping me from sleeping at night. Damn those Royals for making it look like the bullpen was the uber alles attribute of a champion team. Screw the pen: starting pitching and offense will be what determines the 2016 Twins fate, not the lack of a lefty specialist, which we may already have.
  16. I think the same could be said of the available lefties mentioned in the article.
  17. I hope the Twins make Detroit their patsy(filter evaiation) in 2016. I could see it go either way frankly, but I like the Twins chances: youth and energy over old stars.
  18. I'll look forward to that.
  19. Jeremy, great read - I enjoyed it. I do think you invested WAY too many assets in the bullpen though.
  20. So, how many catchers have made ther HOF? 15 or so, including Piazza? Joe did things unheard of as a catcher, righty batter, etc. But, and it's a big one, he never won a World Series. Puckett got in for that. He's sitting at 1697 hits, as a 32 year old on decline. His numbers are very Tony O like: As KGB said: Tony O is a perfect equivalent: did great things as a youth, won batting titles, helped his team compete at the top of the heap, but won nothing, and had a HOF career cut short by injuries.
  21. Mr. Plouffe has come a long way from 21 on that list
  22. Kid seems to have his feet firmly on the ground - good prospect.
  23. Agreed on both counts. I think some metrics are flat out bogus in terms of the game on the field, especially if they indicate that Dozier's play has become a dilemma of any sort.
