  1. Ryan can just sit on this situation; he'll know if he's blown away. It's up to the other GMs to do it, and you never know how fool crazy they get as the deadline approaches. If there ends up being a bidding war, and someone coughs up a top 20 prospect, well, hard to say no.
  2. Who are the big 3? Landa, Jorge, Rosario?
  3. Here's another fun idea for when the Mpls-St.P light rail line opens, and the new Saints stadium is built: The pub crawl doubleheader, with ballparks at either terminus and many great watering holes in between. The Saints and Twins should try to coordinate the DH part of this.
  4. Like the moves - Arcia has been worse than ass lately, and he doesn't even beat out ground balls. Parmalee blew a great opportunity. Escobar is irrelevant with the "emergence" of Florimon and Dozier. No problem with the demotions, but Colabello better damn well be part of the recalls.
  5. I think I know how Hicks could find his mojo - he needs to shave his head, like Kirby, and Torii. He looks a little thin on top as it is. Do it Hicks - bald Twins center fielders are the best!
  6. No kidding! (Must remind myself that having a great farm-system << winning major league club). I can't remember the Twins floating near the top of the draft so long. Hopefully the system will pay forward big time.
  7. Loving the class of 2013 so far.
  8. Looking at the Wild-Card standings tonight, it looked like the Twins had a top 5 pick. Given the way they are playing, I think that is the area to scope out. Buxton, Stewart, ??? Nice consolation prizes these.
  9. You ougta axe the Cabooze and end up at Fulton tap room instead Great idea that will only get better when the st. paul line goes online, with Great Waters, Surly, and Town Hall all on the way.
  10. If only we still had Santana to trade....
  11. I'd be happy if we ended up with another Puckett and Gaetti. Those guys both only spent 3 seasons in the minors, although they were a bit older.
  12. Better at least 1 elite tool than merely good across the board.
  13. Watching Pelfrey pitch in Cedar Rapids makes me want to watch Bull Durham or The Rookie. For me, the real highlight was the Smulekoff's ad at the start
  14. Might it not be even harder to project 16 year olds than 18 year olds? I'd like to see longitudinal data on the "best 16 year olds" after they play 10 years of ball.
  15. Prospect does not equal major league superstar. I am as much under the awesomeness of these two as anyone, but respect the major leagues. As for David OPS plus slugging over 1.000 as a 22-23 year old in AAA looked pretty encouraging, no?
  16. You are talking about a deep-rebuild. You can't trade all your good team guys for prospects and expect to compete. Sacrilegious as it may seem, even Sano and Buxton are not sure things. Remember Dave McCarty? Point is that Perkins' current contract runs to a point where I expect the Twins to be competitive again. Why dig another hole that needs to be filled for a future that may never arrive?
  17. I would sure like to keep him around - I see him as kind of still being on the comeback trail. None of us know the depths to which he descended. I remember his swing looking all out of whack last season, and this season he seems to be consistently making good contact, having good at bats, and producing runs. If he gets 100 RBIs, i don't really care how many came from dingers. He has an MVP mentality with men on. .700 BA with bases loaded. .333 with RISP and 2 outs. .342 with RISP.
  18. He seems to make most of the plays there. I like his power. He is a perfect 6-7 hitter on a good team.
  19. If I am a GM and going about team-building, someone would need to WAAAYY overpay to get a hometown guy who loves it here and has 90's-era contract for years. The Twins will surely be playing meaningful games in September before that contract expires. We already have elite prospects. Sure, a great SS or SP would be a nice add, but at some point it becomes a zero-sum game. I don't want the Twins to be a revolving door - keeping the good ones was supposed to be the reason we built Target Field.
  20. I can't think of a better way to spend one's youth than pursuing the baseball career. I'm sure the reality is less glamorous than we think, but it beats the heck out of working at a fast food or a big box, or any of the jobs I held in my early 20s.
  21. I was a the game and so didn't benefit from replays of pitches, but this is how it looked from the third deck. He struck out Butler twice, which is pretty impressive. Apparently he had a sinker that was working. The Royals big inning had some seeing eye hits; he wasn't getting beaten around too much, but he did a nice job of controlling the damage. The Royals did hit some balls pretty hard over the course of 6 innings though He threw strikes, and was in good counts the whole game. He looked nice and loose out there, throwing 92-93. More of the same please!
  22. Better than having Lamb or Punto there.
  23. This article will make you very happy, as Passan lists his top 25 prospects in the Future's Game: Y! SPORTS
