  1. Good move - he's young enough to still figure this out. But man, he has been brutal. If he flames out, maybe the Twins can hire him as a coach to throw batting practice. Now, Gibson time! Give this young man some major league innings before he turns 30!
  2. I like the fact that the Twins pay attention to their own back-yard. Minnesota isn't a baseball hot-bed, but if you corner this market, you might get a h-o-f'er or two. Minnesota ball players seem to roost as well, although toward the end of hallowed careers. Still, Winfield, Molitor, Morris, Mauer, Steinbach, perhaps Perkins, that's a pretty nice welcome mat to roll out to Minnesota prospects.
  3. 93 pitches for a complete game shut out? That's efficient!
  4. Just looking over Arcia's minor league stats. Just wow. He looks like a guy that could compete for a batting title, and have respectable power numbers too. Who ever said earlier in this thread, "he's my must watch at bat guy," sign me up too.
  5. I'm leery of Manaea. Stewart sounds like my kind of pick; otherwise, Frazier.
  6. Kind of interesting that the two best pitching performances for the Twins in Boston have come from Rule 5 draftees.
  7. Wow, those OB+slugging numbers are insane. These kids are raking.
  8. Love these Tiger starters - Max Scherzer makes me think of old-time New York three team baseball. Old-time baseball.
  9. Gardy needs to remember this guy is < 1 year from Tommy John. Too bad, Pelfrey deserved better.
  10. Loving Coomer's hitting insight tonight - the Twins should add him to Dick and Bert; get the insight from both sides of the pitch, and probably beaucoup yuks.
  11. Had that very thought today - He's like AJ, waiting for a generational talent to take his place. I hope he keeps the power up, so the Twins can get a good trade for him when the time comes.
  12. That is the beauty of the Twins' system now: we got our Sano, Buxton, Meyer, Arcia, etc., but there also guys like Walker and other lower level prospects that are kicking arse right now. Some of these less heralded prospects might end up stealing the show.
  13. Couldn't have said it better myself
  14. Thanks Parker - it's interesting to get inside a pitcher's head.
  15. I'm more worried about the Royals than the Yankees - they might actually suck this season.
  16. Nice read Seth. I'm hoping to make a run down there sometime this summer.
  17. I stick my neck out there and say the former MVP is back in the fold. Sounds like he'd like to stay here too. The Twins should make him a lifer.
  18. nice write-up. I feel this kid has an experience deficit, growing up in a land where baseball is pretty much a novelty. Then he left home in a big way and at a very tender age. That shows to me that he has maturity. Repeating E-Town is okay as long as you shred like he did. I hope/expect his deficit is now eliminated, and he will progress at a normal level.
  19. What! was he eating pancakes?
  20. I still remember, after one of Felton's better outings, Calvin Griffith calling him "untouchable." I have to admit, every time i hear the word untouchable, I think not of Elliot Ness, or Miguel Sano, but only Terry Felton, the poor man's Ron Guidry. Tanks for the trip down memory lane
  21. Thank you. People need to realize that free agents choose teams for MANY reasons, ONE of which is money. It's not as simple as "gee, if the Twins had offered 1.6, he would have signed here."
  22. Don't disagree. Still, the similarities are there.
  23. Well, nobody else said it: Tony Oliva - 3 batting crowns, health issues, Twin his entire career, no championships. No Hall.
  24. How do you know they didn't make offers? You can't hold a gun to a free agent's head and order them to sign your offer, hence the "free" of free agent.
