  1. His success would be hard for me to stomach if I didn't like him. I do like him, and am happy for him. Getting healthy, changing leagues, new pitching coach, it's not surprising really, given his stuff and his arm. Less surprising than Dickey, say.
  2. Sorry my mistake. Oh, I could certainly be wrong. However, maybe you could be wrong and watch Morneau join Hunter, Ortiz, Cuddyer, and others in the All-Star game at Target Field next season. I can certainly see where the glass half-empty crowd is coming from here. However, I'm sick of seeing the Twins let team leaders go before their time. Whether your crystal ball is better than mine is debatable, but the rationale for Target Field was to let the Twins be able to keep their core players. So far, they haven't, and frankly is has come back to bite them in the butt.
  3. But wouldn't you agree that 1B is one a field position in baseball with above average longevity?
  4. I understand the qualifying offer stuff, and we don't want to do that. Still, since when in early 30s over the hill? Cabrera is 30; Ortiz 37; Cuddyer 34; Hunter 38; Utley 34; etc. Morneau has had more than concussions - just last season he had wrist and neck issues. You can interpret his recent success as a fluke, but I see it as a guy who is finally 100% and is rediscovering his stroke. Lastly, unless the Twins sign up someone this off-season to replace him, I fail to see how a weak hitting team losing their top HR and RBI guy makes them better. Trade and re-sign would be okay, but re-sign to a couple-three year deal after the season at half his current salary would work for me.
  5. You can spout all the advanced metrics you want, but I'm sure the rest of the Twins infielders are grateful to have Morneau scooping their throws out of the dirt 2-3 times a game.
  6. Well yeah, that is what I am talking about I guess Beemo. mr. Brooks, I think his concussion years are the smaller sample size than the rest of his career. He isn't that old to be considered over the hill. i am also a big fan of his glove at first.
  7. I thought he would play better after the trade stuff kind of cooled down, but he really looks close enough to the Justin we know and love, I'd be happy to get him signed to a reasonable extension. There is something to be said for keeping core vets. I would feel better about a return to relevancy with his bat and glove over there as opposed to more ????
  8. I think managers are held to a different standard - many great managers like Martin and Weaver had plenty of fire. I don't mind this too much, especially in the low minors.
  9. I an not gonna let the unexpected Butera return lead me to think that's the new normal. Org filler or cash.
  10. Nice stuff - funny, I noticed that very thing with Hunter back when he first started hitting with authority. His left foot got active pretty quickly.
  11. So is Meyer going to be on an inning limit next season? He only threw 129 innings last season, and only 65 so far this season. What is that rule of thumb about increasing a pitcher's innings from one season to the next?
  12. Inter-generational comparisons are fun, but mean little. Today's 365 days a year athletes would probably make mincemeat of all but the best of guys from Bert's era, who actually needed spring training to get in game shape.
  13. Woah, what happened to BA, HR and RBI?
  14. Way to rain on our parade Klaw....
  15. Pretty good looking bag of balls this Sulbaran.
  16. Having a surplus of something other than corner outfielders or 1st basemen is a pretty nice problem to have. Dozier has been Pedroia Lite out there lately.
  17. Well, swagger is the word.
  18. Ahh, thanks. Missed the news.
  19. Yeah, my thought as well - bloody football players don't count. Sano is ridiculously good - Buxton is too. What's the problem here?
  20. Hard to believe he's actually improving on what he has done in AAA. One tendency Albers has shown this season at both levels is the ability to go deep into ballgames. Nice skill that....
  21. What happened? Don't understand the thread....
  22. I wasn't aware outfield was a need for the Twins. I would be more interested in throwing prospects for a starting pitcher, and I wouldn't include Sano or Buxton in any deal right now.
  23. Please, please give Sano some major league at bats this September.
  24. How about he works to get better at left field. He's certainly young enough to improve if he puts in the work. A defensively shoddy 1st baseman would be worse than the LF equivalent. "For I am a Rain Dog too!"
  25. Don't get the clamoring for the complete game. When you're done, you're done. Albers was done. By his own admission: " I was definitely getting tired. ..." There's always next game, where he can show them what he's really got.
