  1. They both have the talent to succeed. Hopefully they will return next spring with the knowledge of what needed work, and will work to adjust their games accordingly.
  2. We complain about the starting pitching, but the lack of offense is at least as big a problem. A line-up of sub .250 hitters who strike out a lot, ugh. There's not much reason to believe that is going to right itself overnight any more than the starting pitching will.
  3. Hey, just saw Rancid last night. They fir the bill perfectly.
  4. Maybe the Twins should look at promoting more than just players in the near future.
  5. I watched the game last week where Pelfrey got screwed about three times in one inning. I'm sure it has an effect. That's where a bulldog mentality would help.
  6. The wild whiffing is a concern to me. I'd like to see him take it down a notch and go for more contact; his natural power would kick in and he'd still hit plenty of homers.
  7. He'd certainly get more in return than Valencia. Jeremias Pineda anyone?
  8. Moving Mauer to first doesn't completely remove him from the risk of further concussions. Morneau and Koskie were wrecked by concussions, and they didn't catch. Just sayin.
  9. If the Twins were to win one of these bids, now would be the time. They have the cash, and it would be good for the team obviously, but would also give them some solid PR heading into All-Star mania.
  10. Looking at that A's rotation made me wonder how one team can do it soooo much better than another. Cycling guys and trading at high value is tricky business, and they seem to have it nailed.
  11. So happy for him with the game winning RBI today. The Pirates are one of the coolest and most historic franchises in baseball. Perfect fit for JM.
  12. The numbers are pretty volatile - last week he went from .230 something to over .300 then back to .260.
  13. What about Roberto Hernandez? I noticed TB has him pitching from the pen. He'd probably be happy to have a chance at starting.
  14. Luckily for you draft mavens, the Twins probably don't have to try and lose. It seems to come naturally for this bunch. Rick Sutcliffe dinged the Twins on Baseball Tonight last night when they were debating how much trouble Tampa Bay was in, how they weren't scoring, and RS said he wasn't worried: "lets talk about this again after TB plays 3 against the Twins," he quipped, with laughs all around.
  15. The A's would probably trade Dozier before Rosario. I imagine Dozier's value is pretty high right now, probably moreso than Rosario. Keep the young cheaper option seems like a viable strategy, especially when the older option is still pretty cheap and has high value, kind of like what the Twins did with CF last off-season. Of course there is the Hicks factor to be wary of.
  16. My policy would read: "Don't let this become the Twins board at MLB.com." People should check their hostility and anger at the door.
  17. We got the table setter, and the clean-up guy. Now we need the #1 stud. Hoping Stewart can be seen as that guy this time next season.
  18. He sounds like a Rick Anderson pitch-to-contact dream. I think the Twins are all in on this guy....
  19. Former catchers make pretty good managers. Steiny?
  20. I hope they aren't the same scouts that worked on Nishi....
  21. Scott Kazmir anyone?
  22. Good write-up TFFA. I'd like to see the Twins get aggressive at promoting their own talent - Bring up Mays and Meyer next season, and Sano at some point as well. If your going to trot out a low budget line-up, at least do it with prospects that one can get excited about when they have a good game. Pinto, Arcia, Dozier, those guys have been fun to watch because they are on the upswing of their careers. I remain optimistic that they will return to relevancy someday.
  23. Whatever they're teaching them at Kentucky, it's working. #1, #2, and an HM. Not too shabby.
  24. Probably best to steer the top prospects clear of this Twins team - most of them have just come from playing meaningful games in September, a good note to end on. In fact the guys they did recall are a perfect fit for this Twins team, and will be great trivia questions in 15 years when trying to come up with obscure Twins.
  25. Fun with numbers indeed. Well, you gotta tip your hat to a guy who mainly goes deep into games he starts, and has 3 outings without a run given up.
