  1. What was he 257/267 and 195/203?
  2. That is encouraging! I do believe simba is at least a capable hitter, but just curious what Everetts ops+ was when we signed him? I imagine those last few years really brought down the average. edit: just looked up Everetts numbers and...wow. the last couple years were indeed terrible, but his season high ops+ was 80. and he never won a gold glove. granted, those aren't a good way to measure defenders, but I guess I remembered him as being "the guy" for ss defense at the time.
  3. Really like the signing, but can't help thinking of Adam Everett.
  4. I'm of Swedish ancestry, and my only problem with the use of vikings is that the team is such a joke.
  5. Happy for the Dodgers. They kinda remind me of the Capitals in hockey, where after years of watching an all-time great(Kershaw/OV) and mostly likable supporting cast get close every year, you want to see them get the ring. I'm sure they won't discount the title even if the year is 2020 on it.
  6. Really cool to watch Graterol killing it on the big stage.
  7. The end of that game was hilarious to me. Not a Vikings fan, but definitely not a Seattle fan either; I empathize with you guys that are though. It reminded me of watching the Twins in the playoffs, and the Seahawks are kinda becoming to the Vikes what the Yanks are to the Twins. They start off looking so promising, scoring first and feeling like this might just be the game that turns it around. And of course they find a way to choke at the very end, but everyone knew when Wilson got the ball back that they were gonna march down the field to win it. It was inevitable. Can someone with a better idea of football strategy tell me why they wouldn't go for 3 when they were in the redzone and could have made it an 8 point game?
  8. Just saw that the Marlins have won 7 straight post season series! Granted they so rarely make it in, but damn. The fact that even the Marlins, the seemingly biggest joke of a team in mlb, who had the biggest issues with covid this season, can not only win a game but also a series while the Twins turn in these post season disasters on the reg, is horribly depressing.
  9. I've found this take really interesting as well. I feel like the argument was, that in the playoffs, pitchers are better and therefore it's harder to string together multi hit innings, so relying on the long ball was more effective. Now we hear the opposite. The only constant seems to be the Twins failing at either approach.
  10. You joke, but my theory is that the umps in general have been so bored this year, presumably having to follow the same quarantine measures as the players, they are either drunk or hungover af every game.
  11. Why not, they do at the plate every at bat.
  12. I'd respect it if they called games better than little league umps. But they don't, because they are awful at their jobs. Call the game accurately or gtfo, this whole season has been a joke.
  13. Done with baseball this year. Call balls balls, and strikes strikes. Or let robots do it for you. I see they've made their choice.
  14. Yeah its the same garbage as the rest of the season. Even when its working in your favor
  15. I was thinking something similar in the first inning, when they loaded the bases. It seems every year they make the post season, it all starts so promisingly. It really makes you think they might just win one(game, sadly.) And every time, this. Or some version, whether its a torii hunter diving misplay, a polanco garbage throw, a romo walk. Lots to choose from this game really.
  16. This is still way better than a bullpen game
  17. Plenty of good and bad in this game alone. Like, watching rosario swing through a fastball at his eyes and buxton hit what should be his second inside the park homerun this week is all part of the Twins experience, which is mostly enjoyable
  18. Agreed. Also, I always took the game threads to be a bit more stream of conscious and less structured. Like I don't just post random one sentence frustration that adds nothing in an actual discussion, but in a game thread i'em just responding in real time as I would with friends at home
  19. I won't miss seeing him strikeout on those chin high fastballs next year
  20. Can't wait to hear how this is Rosario's fault...I kid, I kid. This is really discouraging after the past couple weeks.
  21. Yeah, for all the talk about time it takes for players to find their grooves, what about the umps? lol. just terrible this season. auto umps next year please
  22. Agreed about it making sense to try this year, and I have been mostly ambivalent about the electronic strike zone until watching this season play out. Maybe it's just that I'm watching the games pretty much everyday this season, but the balls/strikes calls have been absolutely atrocious. It's actually made me less interested in watching just because its so inconsistent and really takes away from the game for me. Watching a guy get rung up on a ball a foot out of the zone, or taking first on a pitch down the middle is unacceptable, and seems to happen multiple times every game.
  23. All of that may be true, but "phasing out" a core veteran team member in the middle of a pennant race seems like an awful idea. I would like to see the prospects live though too. Wish they still expanded the rosters.
  24. We can't even compete with Tigers and Royals.
