    Sure, I know we want to avoid making the Jorge Lopez trade again, but this rationale would have killed the Jays acquiring Varland last year.

    They're still likely going to protect him at that point, even if he isn't ready to play in 2028. They protected Emmanuel Rodriguez when he was turning 21 and hadn't jumped up to AA yet. Yeah, Tait being such a long ways away was why I wasn't a big fan of the Duran trade. I underestimated Abel, but Tait was 18 at the time of the trade and he's so far away from playing, all of the rankings putting him up so high aren't as meaningful when there is so much time for things to go wrong. And who knows if he sticks at catcher.

    I don't know if anyone is saying that, the point was that Roden has something like 600 PAs at AAA at around .950 OPS, there was no point in trading for him if they were just going to keep him playing needlessly in the minors. Sands had a setback and his rehab stint was canceled, last I heard. The thing is, they've essentially had Outman or Fedko clogging up a bench spot already when Shelton has shown very little interest in playing either. The solution is simple - stash Jackson until the deadline and things will sort themselves out - either Jeffers is traded, or if he stays put then they probably trade Jackson for a very small return. Or one of the three get hurt and they don't make any trades. By the time the deadline is over, they will have 2 catchers no matter the scenario.

    Looks like Fedko is right back where he left off at AAA... but thanks to his 20 PAs in the majors, there will be no faith from the fans in him if he ever gets called up again.

    That seems reasonable, but looking into Coulombe's stats this year... he's been every bit as bad as Funderburk. Kody has a gross 5.9 K/9 to a 6.3 BB/9, but Coulombe is somehow at 4.1 K/9 to 6.1 BB/9. Yikes!

    Uh, is this a serious quote? It's the first time they've ever went BPA? Wouldn't they argue they went BPA at #3?

    Abel plus moving Tait for a quality starter in exchange for Duran would be a pretty good return, given Abel can stay healthy. Moving Duran for multiple MLB level starters wouldn't be possible otherwise.

    With a 40 man spot open, I have no problems claiming a 26 year old with 3 option years left. Stop having him pitch 3-4 innings at a time and see what happens when he's a one inning only reliever. Seems like he is an AAAA arm, but his career numbers at AAA aren't that good to begin with. Probably a guy who gets DFA'd in a month or two.

    If there's belief that Tinney sticks at catcher, maybe they can use Tait as a premium trade chip in the future? Not that I don't believe in Tait, it's just that other teams are usually lacking with catcher depth and now they've invested into it heavily. Maybe something like doing the next version of the Sonny Gray / Pablo Lopez trade and using Tait as the main prospect with the anticipation of Joe Ryan being traded sooner or later.

    I have no problem acquiring a guy who looks to be a middle inning reliever for an at-best top 40 prospect of ours. Especially since Nance isn't a rental, though who knows how long a 35 year old reliever who's been mainly tasked with throwing in low leverage situations is going to last.

    I was about the post the exact same thing, the Yankees aren't going to rob Peter to pay Paul, especially not for two of their better relievers in exchange for 2 months of control of Jeffers.

    Hard to be upset at the lineup when they've hit so well, enough to somehow have the most runs in the American League. These kinds of games are going to happen. As mentioned in an article, they need to commit to using Rojas as a starter or have him go fully into being a reliever. Being a 2-3 inning pitcher isn't a viable strategy going forward. That role makes more sense for a guy like Paredes, who doesn't have the upside Rojas does but has been decently effective in the majors so far. They fully committed on Morris to the bullpen and he's been great in the setup role, I'm not recommending doing that to Rojas but the option is there.

    I don't want to take away from the Twins win, but if I didn't know better, Cleveland these past two games have played like a team that is 20 games below .500. I still can't get over how in the 7th inning their relievers threw 14 consecutive pitches outside of the strike zone (only one called as a strike with zero swings).

    With Ober, Rojas, and Paredes rested, they certainly have the length to cover a bad start and then some.

    The Twins have put Marco Raya and Connor Prielipp on the 15 day IL, recalled Kendry Rojas and activated Bailey Ober from the IL.

    Geez, I don't want to jinx it but this Cleveland lineup stinks. I'm not sure how they're going to score runs.

    That tracks, you'd think the Tigers wouldn't let us have him for nothing if the numbers were suggesting he could be a legit bullpen arm, seeing how they themselves could use a high-leverage reliever.

    Yup, I kinda called it in that thread, this happens every year with a marginal OF hitting well in AAA. I was on board since Outman was so bad, it's a classic "he can't hit worse than Outman" and then he actually does hit worse than him. But I'm glad they found out and gave the kid a chance. It's not as if Outman is any different in Detroit except he's managed to hit a handful of HRs. My question is, next time Sabato hits 4 for 5 in a game, does the comments section get filled with people calling the Twins to call him up?

    Yes, he has been added and Laweryson was optioned.

    Woo-Suk Go has been added to the 40 man roster and called up from AAA, Laweryson optioned. 40 man roster is full.
