  1. Read this before I checked the box score. Thinking I would see an Ober implosion but he pitched 4!innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run. Velocity aside, sounds like a good outing.
  2. This. Gray and Kreidler could go a month without getting a hit.
  3. Feel bad for him. Finally going to get his chance. I wonder if it is his first one - makes a big difference.
  4. The last step in prospect development is the most treacherous one, and lately the Twins have seen a lot of prospects stumble at the gate. Sometimes it's injuries, other times it's not being able to adjust once the league gets a book on you. (sometimes it's both with this star-crossed club!) I think this is not understood enough by most people. The last step is the hardest.
  5. Schobel made a couple of nice defensive plays and has a little pop. I wish he could play a little SS as he could be a utility guy. Gray and Kreidler look like they could go a month without getting a hit.
  6. Full disclaimer: I’m not a big Funderburk fan - no control and he dawdles on the mound. I would keep Chafin as I think he will actually be better and Fundy will get called up soon enough.
  7. The IL might decide the final roster. Really enjoying Molitor on the broadcast. Makes his point succinctly and lets the broadcast breathe. You can actually hear the sounds of the ballpark.
  8. Keaschall in the outfield is a bad idea. He looks like a dog trying to catch a frisbee. He’s also has some concerning throws from an arm strength perspective. I’ve seen a couple one hop throws from left field to third base. This is classic analytics overthinking by our FO / manager.
  9. I believe that Abel is the better pitcher now and has more upside. For that reason I would start him in St Paul to get the extra year of service time. Then he comes up and never goes back.
  10. Good news. Hamstring injuries can be lengthy. I hope they go slow with him in hopes he has no setbacks and is setup for a healthy season.
  11. I hear ya. Hopefully he’s healthy and just trying to get his mechanics straightened out. Even as is he would still be an acceptable #5 starter. We need all the starters we can get.
  12. It was crazy how easily Lee beat out that bunt and the bunt was just pushed over to the left side. This seems like something teams should be doing against the shift. Keaschall/ Martin / Larnach in the outfield……woof.
  13. I dont worry about the power aspect. He apparently has a sound swing - don’t mess with it. The power will develop as he matures and gains experience as a hitter. I don’t have any pre-set expectations for this year. Get healthy, gain development in AAA and come up to the Twins when it is right for his development. Does anyone know if he has resumed baseball activities yet?
  14. We will eventually find out through their performance. If I had to guess I would say yes in the field. Kpepper has the stronger arm and greater speed and athleticism. I’m not high on Lee as a SS but I give him credit for having good hands and turning routine plays into outs reliably. Anyone’s guess on who ends up being the better hitter. Both could succeed or fail but I look forward to finding out a lot more this year.
  15. That will certainly vary from person to person. I think language is interesting and important. Good writing will be above it. For me it’s about in the same category as outfielders throwing to the wrong base 😀
  16. Seems like an inaccurate ranking considering the Twins have played in a weak division for a while.
  17. I try not to get too worked up over grammatical errors especially on a site like this but since you opened the door….my pet peeve is the overuse of trendy jargon. I predict a summer of references to “post- hype” prospects. Another example being “lean into” or my favorite “intentional or intent”. As in the Twins made an intentional decision to run more. You mean there is an unintentional decision? Terms like this cast a bad light on the author in my opinion.
  18. KC is an important prospect for the Twins. If he can’t play legit SS in the bigs the Twins will either spend lots of money or trade capital to solve this problem. With his strong arm he should be able to play a little deeper ala Correa which helps his range. Here’s hoping….
  19. This has been posted before here. The walk rate with men on was really high and yea he’s going to suffer when it comes to hitting a flare to left to drive in a run but hitting solo homers isn’t necessarily his fault.
  20. I give him credit in that he’s trying to make adjustments. He is less open in his stance and has toned down the leg kick. Hopefully that closes up some holes in his swing. While I’m not a fan of three outcome baseball, if you will ever accept strikeouts its for a guy like Wallner and his power. The whole clutch thing is overblown. It’s more a function of the Twins not having many baserunners and opposing pitchers pitching carefully to him with men on.
  21. I agree with this. This is not a team that should be paying top dollar for pitchers or players in their 30s. Especially since starting pitcher seems to be an area of relative strength
  22. Whatever you want to call it, Zebby is a great example. In the minors he walked nobody because he threw it over and the hitters couldn’t make him pay. In the bigs, they can and are.
  23. I’m usually skeptical of prospects and reports on prospects. However I’m surprised at the lack of enthusiasm in this article given that he’s 19 and in high A. We take some 22 year old college pitcher and stick him in A ball and everyone gets excited when they have a whiff of success. Catching is really hard so I’m more than willing to believe that given some time he will get better. A left handed power hitting catcher is worth taking a chance on and worth waiting for.
