  1. I agree - but Oliveros and Achter aren't the answer.
  2. For good reason. Though Meyer will be back.
  3. Defense aside, I'm not all that confident Arcia can hit all that much either. I'd consider it in the offseason if Buxton is ready. And I'd like to see how both Hicks and Norris finish the year. Not completely sold Norris is a great stick.
  4. I just assumed they put Jay there to leave open the possibility of pitching out of the pen in the bigs this year.
  5. The Twins will have some of depth to trade from and they could move Polanco if they don't think he could stick at ss. Don't buy they can move an arm of consequence.
  6. That's a worse team.
  7. Pretty sure they did audition the two internal guys that could have been late inning reliever - Tonkin and Pressly.
  8. And not signing: Go get em next year.
  9. And I'm not sure more runs is an absolute given - sacrifice OBP for more SLG, but balanced by a huge downgrade in defense and speed.
  10. I don't know. Twins will likely score more runs, but might give back even more.
  11. I would do it too, but this probably is an offseason type move. Not sure if filling C and creating an immediate hole in CF (before Buxton is ready) does much for this year. And I'm sure San Diego would want more data on Hicks.
  12. Without question we get the politicians and political system we deserve. The good news is that local governments are generally really competent relative to the rest of the world, so it has minimal impact on day to day lives of most people.
  13. My other "favorite" part of that call was not only was it fair, it hit off Cabrera's glove. http://larrybrownsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/joemauer-philcuzzi.jpg
  14. And it's not like you make this up - lots of speculation on potential availability of Norris. They would want mlb pieces back though, not sure if the Twins have the ammo.
  15. I have several complaints about Israel, but I'm pretty confident that they would take a Land for Peace deal yesterday if they had any confidence in the Peace part of that equation.
  16. To say Jay was just a shut down late inning reliever is a little misleading. He relieved in a variety of roles, often going multiple innings, and made a handful of starts, including the last game of the year (the most important for the team). This draft had 5 clear guys and the Twins drafted 6th, that is probably the biggest issue.
  17. Of all those years, 2004 was the one that really hurt. That was a really good team peaking for the playoffs nose to nose with a really good Yankees squad. 03 and 09 were not that great, 10 was more a paper tiger (didn't have the pitching and key players were dinged), and 06 was a fun team that had run out of gas by playoff time.
  18. Yes, I do think women are being talked into more abortions, and yes, I do think people and organizations are being compensated for this. I don't think it is systematic and overt, but corruption rarely is.
  19. A combination of clear mediocrity at certain positions on the big league team, a generally unrealistic view of how prospects perform when called up, and shiny new things.
  20. I certainly appreciate the science and I"m not naive to (most of) what happens. I'm concerned about corruption that provides incentives for more abortions and organizations that may push for more abortions because of said incentives. Medical benefits of discarded fetuses aside, my personal hope for humanity is zero abortions.
  21. You think the Israel-Palestine conflict is bad?
  22. I wonder if they could get Norris without giving up Berrios. Twins could certainly flip a SS, but the Padres would need more.
  23. Good luck. Any chance this will be in iTunes?
