  1. That is part of the fun of being on an anonymous message board right? And yes, the one proposal made in the article is unfortunate.
  2. I hate to take a side path on the fourth thread dedicated to trading for a catching upgrade, but I have a question. Do you think the Twins hype prospects more than national media outlets do? Or even local outlets like our own Seth Stohs? I don't think teams actually hype their prospects anymore, other outlets do all that work for them. If anything, teams try to downplay a little bit - aside from the top guys who get talked about all the time. In my mind, aside from overrating our own prospects relative to what they can get in a trade - the other issue we run into all the time on this board is the assumption that marginal prospects can come on to the team and do just as well (if not substantially better) than players that are already here.
  3. Agree. This doesn't get it done. I would say absurdly cheap, not expensive.
  4. I also think Plouffe isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Nor should he.
  5. My experience too. Sprain an ankle, tape it up, play the rest of the game, and then it starts to hurt like hell. Here's hoping he's a fast healer.
  6. I think you are underselling Pressly. He's better than the others you mentioned.
  7. Exactly. Don't need to bring back an ethos of not playing. If you turn an ankle warming up you can get it taped and have a 3-4 hour window of still being able to play. I would also say that unless this is much worse than they are leading on (and I doubt it) someone like Plouffe might have played today. This is probably protecting a young player from trying to overdo it, I suspect he'll be back in the lineup on Tuesday.
  8. I just track him a little closer for dynasty league reasons. Would be nice to pick a catcher high but there just wasn't the talent there the last several drafts to justify a pick. Tough, tough position to fill.
  9. There hasn't been a significant reliever switch teams yet. You can't trade for a player that doesn't exist. But on the bigger point I agree, they will need to make a trade if they want to improve. Meyer was the only hope for an impact arm from the minors and he flopped.
  10. The severity of the Sano injury changes the equation, but I wasn't convinced that Arica helped the team's W-L record in the immediate future more as a bench player than Robinson. If Sano is out for a while, makes much more sense to have Arcia up as the DH.
  11. I think Pelfrey gets two starts, which lines up perfectly with the trade deadline. May is probably in his undefined role for the next 10 days then a clear decision is made based on performance and trades that are (or aren't) made and they roll with it.
  12. Do people really think Molitor shouldn't have considered Fien his best reliever (outside of Perkins) at this moment? The could certainly change quickly, but certainly seems obvious at this point.
  13. Minimal, which is why a veteran making the minimum takes it and not a still developing prospect. If there was room for Arcia to play almost every day he would be up. He's not as good as the current options.
  14. Arcia is going to be a pinch runner and defensive replacement and start once a week? That's your solution?
  15. I personally thought he would go to May and save Fien for a potential save opportunity. Molitor was actually more aggressive with his reliever usage than I thought he would be.
  16. So what? Better, more well rounded players have passed him up.
  17. Because he isn't exactly dominating AAA in a way that inspires confidence that he can contribute in the bigs, especially because he brings nothing else to the table. Nothing wrong with him in the minors getting reps and coming up if/when there is an opening. He'll get a chance later in the year too.
  18. Jackson is going to be an OF.
  19. I wouldn't count on much Pek or Garnett. The rest will probably be matchups.
  20. And I assume Arcia will keep k'ing.
  21. Maybe add Berrios too.
  22. I think the anyone but Suzuki plan is starting to get a little out of hand. Embracing a starting role for Eric Fryer...
  23. Which is why he won't replace Robinson at the moment. He's actually in a fine spot, getting everyday reps and providing depth for about 6 positions, to replace if there is an injury.
  24. Outside of Berrios, none of their prospects can get an impact guy with multiple years of control. Those guys rarely move at the deadline anyways. Tough call to push a couple of their second tier guys (Kepler, Polanco) for a rental. They certainly have plenty of depth for a complimentary piece like a bullpen arm, which is exactly what I think they will do. I don't think a worthwhile C or SS will move at the deadline. Those will happen in the offseason.
