    What exactly made this the right moment? Vargas back - good. He never should've been sent down in the first place. Glad to see they didn't drag their feet anymore and righted this glaringly obvious wrong.

    Tonkin should still be here. Meyer is just converting to a bullpen arm, I'd rather let him play that out a bit first before throwing him against major league hitters while also adjusting to a new role. Have you seen what Oliveros is doing down there? He deserves a shot and we've had several guys prove there is room in the bullpen.

    Honestly, what does that matter? Must everyone out-produce Hicks to get a call-up? jim, I feel like you're just grasping for reasons on this. If the long game was what was important for Vargas he should've been sent down in the middle of his awful struggles in April. Or should be done with Santana right now. The team's logic on some of these things is really hard to comprehend.

    And he WAS working on it and seeing better success! Ugh, I want to stop thinking about this. I'm really not sure how anyone can defend the decision to send him down.

    Yup, they are their own worst enemy. At some point rational people start to recognize the hate and reject it.

    His problem is off speed stuff. The calling card of AAAA is the inability to adjust to that because they don't see it enough in AAA. So the only way to find out is in the bigs, not AAA.

    If you're going to move Sano off of third, on the list of reasons why, his "size" better be somewhere between "guys named Miguel only play first" and "we want to show mercy on the all-star chances of other AL third basemen". In other words....a total non-factor.

    That Mauer home run was really an eye opener. He's scuffling but damn that was timely.

    Can we please just get Vargas up here and give an actual DH option? I am confused more and more each day that he is not up with the team.

    Yeah, the lack of depth is finally starting to wear on them. I wouldn't count them out yet though.

    I see it more as 5-6 feet off the ground, just above the numbers. His only play was a deke after he stopped running, but his alternative was a wall crash. I don't mind him playing a carom there, but he didn't have the trajectory of the ball properly traced IMO.

    Yeah, now I rewatched a few times and I just can't quite tell. Maybe it did hit just a few feet up. It doesn't much change the fault in his misread though.

    While you might be right about that privately, publicly the administration has declared a VERY different outcome it is trying to obtain. That matters and I struggle to accept your version of things because of it. If they were truly out to contain them the rhetoric would have been much different to avoid looking badly. Unless it was just really stupid rhetoric I guess.

    The Kurds are but we're unwilling to arm them. (For various reasons) By us I mean the USA and I think we should care insofar as we are attempting, in some way, to stop this and failing.
