  1. It's Perkins attitude about things. It's how he gets offended when there are questions or concerns. I appreciate him battling, but at some point being dishonest or in denial about your health becomes a trait no longer commendable.
  2. I'm not surprised there is an adjustment period, but it's for that reason that the 90 win stuff was pretty unlikely. These adjustment losses do count too.
  3. Perkins is getting less and less easy to root for these days.
  4. At least get a Cuban before you torch it, yeesh.....
  5. His slide was late, but it was definitely ok. He slid right at the bag and made no deliberate effort to interfere with the fielder. I'm ok with that slide 100% of the time. That's what we need to get back to as long as we continue to respect the idea of not hurting the infielder. Play with that respect and slide like that and the game is better for it.
  6. I'd have felt better about the "do nothing in FA because we have young guys we like" thinking if any of the young guys had made the team. You don't have to just sign FAs to 3 year deals - you can always trade too.
  7. I don't think you can do anything with the position players yet, I think it'll have to wait until May to correct the mistakes of this offseason. When that happens we'll hopefully have a good read on Kepler. I'd like to see this as soon as possible: RF Kepler SS Escobar 1B Mauer DH Sano 2B Dozier 3B Plouffe LF Rosario C Murphy CF Buxton That's the best 9 this team can field both offensively and defensively. The sooner we get to that - the better.
  8. He worked for them and as he tried to break into the business more Hector shot his partner right in front of him - which created his hatred for the cartel. But I agree with Nick, this mike vs. the cartel thing can't carry on too long just because we largely know how things wrap up.
  9. We just finished - meh. Guess it sets up their downfall, but it better happen and conclude next season. The show has definitely passed it's better days.
  10. I don't know how they did it, but when he hit his head that looked as real as I could possibly imagine. Great episode for all three major characters. I'm still curious how the Mike vs. the Salamancas ends given we know most of them are still around in breaking bad.
  11. Did replays really add more time though? Aren't they basically replacing long conferences of the past? In general, I think replay is pretty fast in baseball. Better than the NFL for sure.
  12. Nick Punto and Torii Hunter are free agents. Problem solved. And sign Derosa too, just to shut Dave up.
  13. Thanks for the advice, tried that and I'm still having issues. Only when I'm in threads - it's pretty unbearable right now.
  14. Guess we could've settled for Kepler or Arcia then huh?
  15. The rules also, so far as I know, do not state that Oswaldo Arcia is prohibited from hitting. So, you know, he could've hit instead. Or Kepler. Or freaking Brunansky for all I care.
  16. Well, sure Brock, I think we'll all agree they won't go 0-162. Pre-season I thought this team could be anything from a 75 win to a 90 win team. We're trending towards the bottom end of that. But that doesn't mean we have to go chicken little - young players need to adjust and we may see some serious growing pains. We've just compounded those struggles with some baffling roster decisions.
  17. It's chrome for me too. Happens every 2-3 minutes and locks up the page.
  18. Things will get better, but I think the flaws still run deep.
  19. Exactly, but I don't see how anyone can contend that asking baseball players to do that somehow undermines the fabric of the game.
  20. Yeah, I'm not convincing even a robo-ump calls both of those a strike. There are all sorts of assumptions going on in thinking that strike map is so precise that we can no for certain it was a blown call, much less extrapolate that into a "ref screwed us" argument.
  21. Wait...that's not working for him?
  22. Right, intent to injure is always going to be as unclear here as it is in any other setting. Intent is something we can only surmise. But what we know is that Rasmus had absolutely no interest in being safe, so the next most likely thing he was doing was trying to slide into the fielder. Slides like Utley's are escalation of the issue at second. It started with guys going so hard into planted infielders that injuries became a scare. So infielders adapted to get away from the bag more quickly, eventually so much so that they were rarely even touching the bag. (Something amatuer leagues prevent with the force out slide rule. Yet, somehow, they still play baseball) Baseball decided that rather than deal with the real problem - sliding - they would just accept that infielders were rightly terrified to actually touch the base so they allowed them to be "in the neighborhood". Now guys are kicking legs out and sliding three feet away from the bag so they can snag the fielder wherever he runs for cover. Why? Because take out sliding has nothing to do with being safe at second and everything to do with sliding into the fielder. That is a significant injury risk and ridiculously un-baseball. Hell, I'd rather guys go bear-hug the infielder if the intent is just to interfere with a double play. Time to go back to respecting yoru opponent enough not to risk shattering his leg for the sake of the tiny chance you might alter the double play.
  23. Alex Gordon got moved, in part, because he wasn't hitting and demonstrably fielding poorly. I wouldn't compare his situation with Sano's.
  24. Those two pitches are hardly rock solid strikes....I'm rooting hard for May this season but he just didn't have command yesterday. We can do better than complaining about two pitches nibbling the zone.
