  1. Warren was going to have many of the same issues as Bernie. She might have won this particular election against Trump, but any non-dumpster fire from the right and she loses. Just not a broad enough appeal.
  2. Dexter is to TV shows what Game of Thrones is to books. A captivating, powerful start muddled by a total lack of focus and direction.
  3. It's totally reasonable during a war with another faction to randomly wander out of your fortress to do stuff and some things. Totally reasonable. *Slaps forehead* Talk about another show that just can't get out of it's own way.
  4. Cut him? He couldn't have stunk any more as a Twin and they have basically rolled out the red carpet for him to be the fifth starter since November. I wouldn't bet on it.
  5. Reusse's making a lot of assumptions on the flimsiest of evidence to come after a 22 year old who has done nothing but exceed expectations. His evidence of his drive is his weight, that's all he's got. Miguel Cabrera doesn't look like he's going to be gracing any fitness magazines - hit piece him too? Hrbek? Puckett? And hundreds of other successful players? The guy went out and had an amazing rookie year despite losing a child and recovering from TJ. What's a better indication of his drive? That or 10 pounds? Give me a break.
  6. I rip them for that nonsense! And it's Sano's fault he is being moved? Hell, his handling of that is a credit to him. He lost 7 pounds and went out to a new position with no complaints and for that he gets a hit piece?
  7. Yes, but that complaining might have also led to May's demotion to the pen later in the season. The complaints are valid, why is Duffy in the race for the 5th starter spot if the team doesn't think he has the repetoire to be a starter? Meanwhile they move a guy they admit has the stuff to be a starter to the bullpen. My brain hurts.
  8. So more Nolasco? Gee my spring training optimism is just bubbling over with this.....
  9. Maybe not, but then the question is....why does this article exist at all? Reusse admits the Twins don't want to talk about this at all and shutdown that line of inquiry, yet her bastardized a Molitor quote to suggest otherwise. So what's the point? Click-bait? If that's the best we can come up with it's extremely unfair to Sano.
  10. I'm a Baseball Mogul player, but I do have an older version of the show. I don't invest in the newer ones because they rarely are worth it and there are always updated rosters.
  11. I think a Jimmy centric episode was needed and it was very solid.
  12. They could have uprooted the veterans, especially given the fact that one of them actually has worn an outfield glove in the past. We shouldn't give the Twins a pass and buy that this was their only option. That's my only point, I really strongly disagree with that. And the thing is, for many that want to believe this will work out for the Twins, they should disagree with it too. If Sano works out as a RF no one is going to say "Thank goodness the Twins had no choice but to do this!" - they'll argue the Twins made the right decision, not backed into a good thing. Buying the "we had no choice" angle let's the Twins off the hook if this doesn't work out.
  13. Yup, Gleeman pretty much nailed a huge problem in baseball that this is symptomatic of.
  14. So Sano was the only possible RF? I don't buy that and neither should you.
  15. Or Patrick Reusses for that matter. I think giving him advice on how to help him is warranted - behind closed doors and only if it's necessary. That's what his friends, his manager, and the leaders on the team should be doing. And that's only if there is a true problem and not just the team trying to turn Sano into the perfect player by their standards. spinowner said it best - you sort of have to let a guy be himself if you really want to see him flourish.
  16. Absolutely, at the end of the day all the mistakes I worry they made could turn out to have been brilliant maneuvers by the team. I just take major issue with tossing the team shade already for their roster management.
  17. We don't know how their choices will work out. But it was their choice to do all of the things you listed. They weren't backed into any corners or without alternatives. They willfully walked into their decisions. They deemed this the best way to go - fail or succeed it was their call. We should judge the results as such, not start giving them preseason cover that this was somehow the only way things could be.
  18. I think a lot of the Hillary is a hawk meme is based on some pretty entrenched naivety. The world is a scary place and there are many that seek the aid of our country in the face of it. Isolating ourselves comes with serious costs as well. Foreign policy and intervention are extremely nuanced and difficult issues. It'd be nice if Sanders said more about it than reciting is Iraq vote.
  19. Kepler is about 40% of my insistence on trading Plouffe. We NEED a batter like Kepler, he might step in immediately as the best leadoff hitter on the roster until Buxton improves his pitch recognition.
  20. House has no chance against Loki. I feel bad saying it, but those two guys are just never going to be anyone else to me. It's a credit to those performances.
  21. They could have moved Plouffe. They could have kept Sano at DH. They could have moved Mauer to DH and played Sano at 1B. Quit trying to give the team excuses. They had a multitude of options. These are the choices they made. They chose not to sign any relievers. They chose not to trade for any relievers. They chose to give Duffy and Nolasco preference to May in the rotation. They chose to move the 22 year old and not the 29 year old to the OF. They chose to sign Park. We may judge, at the end of this, that their choices were correct. But they weren't backed into a freaking corner, that's so preposterous.
  22. Yeah the forced hand presentation of these choices is so terrible. It is about May in the bullpen. It is about Sano in RF. The team willfully made those choices and should be judged by their success or failure as such.
  23. We'll have to wait and see....but I don't recall Kirby or Hrbek being the pictures of physical fitness either. I care about what he does on the field, this seems a little to hit-piece to me. It bears watching and behind closed doors he should be getting advice and guidance....but that's about it.
  24. I can see some benefits to a hotly contested, heavily armed Republican convention.....
