  1. Yeesh with the "woe is me" act. You keep stating that if they are giving him money that it authorizes him to continue. People are willing to give money to a host of stupid things from mega churches to politicians. A willingness to give is "authorization" to do nothing, not from a moral perspective. A fool and his money are soon parted, that doesn't make it ok to keep asking him to part with it. And I deeply disagree that people know that they are giving to a lost cause. Sanders supporters do not act like that in any way, shape, or form. They continue to repeat what Bernie says - that the road is easier and the nomination is still possible. Go look at that reddit thread Dave posted and tell me that this is about social awareness or keeping Sanders propped up in the name of an idea. It's not - there is a deeply held belief that Clinton can still be beat and part of that comes from Sanders himself saying that he can. And it's completely delusional.
  2. With so many NE states left to vote, Trump will almost certainly have the delegates. Cruz has almost no appeal and anyone getting behind him is basically doing it out of desperation. He's universally despised as a selfish do-nothing. He's got no chance.
  3. So you want to be allowed to make arguments but I'm not allowed to point out how they don't really work? I'm not quibbling, you've basically authorized him to spend because people are willing to give. I don't agree with that. At all. What is unfortunate - and this goes for all politicians, Bernie included - is selling a false bill of goods in terms of his chances in order to keep money rolling in. I don't like it any more from him than I do Cruz or Kasich or anyone else.
  4. I don't think Hillary becomes obscure at all. All she has to do to stay in the media cycle is keep pounding on Trump. And yes, I think it's good the way Sanders is raising money. But again, that means every day he stays in the race is on the backs of those private donations. It's worth asking, for what purpose is he spending people's money? Is it gaining his view point any additional traction? I'd argue he peaked and the return on money spent is very little. And I'd argue Cruz should drop out. He and Kasich are also living a fool's dream of what they can accomplish. Winnable states for Cruz are pretty much gone. On the other hand, Hillary's super delegates pretty much make this contest settled also.
  5. I imagine Trevor May standing out in the bullpen with a single tear running down his cheek. I have many tears on the other hand.
  6. The problem is that the Democratic model of nominating their candidate (with super delegates) makes Bernie's case pretty much impossible. He'd have to win at least 60% of the vote from here on to get there and I just don't see how that's possible. I think I heard after the Arizona loss that it's closer to 70% now. It's a false bill of goods for him to suggest he can win this. He's right that the states voting now (read: the more white states) give him a better shot...but this thing is over.
  7. Um, no. You argued that if people are willing to give you money you should keep going - by that argument Jeb Bush should still be running. You're making this a moral issue of "standing up for the little guy" - except to do that you have to take the little guy's money and spend it. At some point it should be asked if that's accomplishing anything. In my opinion, we've reached the point where the answer is "no".
  8. So Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio should've kept going too? Again, people being willing to hand you their money doesn't mandate you take it and spend it. And yes, this platform has given Bernie more voice than he has ever had. We've just reached a point at which there isn't much more to gain. The return on dollars spent is pretty much nill. And all politicians who want to stay in a race spin a story of being able to compete. Kasich is doing it. Rubio was doing it. Bush was doing it. Bernie is selling a complete load of bull to keep running his campaign. Do I think he's doing it malevolently? No. Foolishly? Yes.
  9. He doesn't have to stop talking, but he's continuing to sell people that the nomination is possible and taking their money in to campaign for that outcome. Even though it's comically unlikely. So the only way Bernie can keep his message out there is to lie about his odds of winning to his supporters so he can get media time? Is that what I'm hearing?
  10. Except you're sort of making it a moral issue - the morality of continuing to stand up and stump on these issues. So I think it's fair to point out the costs of that crusade and the costs are real people's money. And I think the war was already won in a sense - his views and his voice have gotten far more platform than anyone could have expected. From here on you're just sinking more into a war you've won as much as you can win. Can people put their money wherever they want? Sure, but I'm not sure that justifies someone spending it.
  11. Boy I take issue with a bunch of this. First - is it really the base or is it a fringe he's appealing to? The same kind of fringe Trump is appealing to that the Republican party has become to centered and not extreme enough? That's not the base. He, like Trump, is appealing heavily with first-timers and people typically outside the political process. You could argue he's tapping into a segment of the democratic base that has gone untapped for awhile, but it sure as hell ain't the base. And second - issues based? I really don't see that with Sanders. He's a couple trick pony, he's just picked some really smart ponies. Again, much like Trump. He and Trump are harping on one issue evenly (free trade agreements) and he's harping on wall-street vs. middle America and college debt. That's really about it. They're smart issues to stump on and they have clearly driven the conversation towards those issues. But they're out there, what further is his campaign accomplishing?
  12. Eh, you could argue the same about Trump, does that make it ok? At some point sinking your supporters money into a lost cause is delusional at best, irresponsible at worst. I'd make the same argument against Kasich.
  13. He's wasting a ton of people's money on a campaign with no hope. I get that having his voice out there makes some people feel better, but he's got no chance at this.
  14. Yes, at times Walt wasn't at the top but his story was always driving everything. Not the case here. It's not hurting the show now but it might if it continues.
  15. This spring has indicated some good steps in that direction so I'm hopeful as well. I'm glad you pushed back on him a little bit, those responses were hard to read and not hold against him.
  16. Well if Saul is the central character than the central story is inferior to side stories. That could be an issue as things go on. I just want them to bring Saul up to the same level as Mike and Kim and it's not there right now. It was in season 1, however.
  17. Mike's story is overshadowing Jimmy's big time right now. I hope that doesn't become a problem for the show.
  18. I was caught off guard by just how delusional Dozier was about his second half.
  19. Yes, one of the higher upside pitchers. I don't care what Hughes weights or where Gibson was on the prospect list 5 years ago. May is one of the few potential starters with the ability to strike people out and the pitches to do it as a starter. That alone makes him pretty much the highest upside arm outside of Berrios. Santana is sort of a known quantity, there isn't a ton of upside in him.
  20. Hell, most us pretty much just put a giant X through the bottom right section.
