  1. MLBTR I thought took it straight from LEN. Once LEN phrased it confusingly it seems to have spread like wildfire. And I just don't buy it.
  2. If you're worried about them spending money, encourage them to do it in the international market. Or some other way. This? Folly.
  3. Yes, but that means pretty much every credible media person is talking out of their rear end on this.
  4. I don't know if Alvarez is on the table or not. But I'm confident there wouldn't be this much smoke, for this many weeks, if this was only DeLeon. I think most of this "all other credible reporters have said..." stuff is giving too much credit. Most sports reporting is hearing something, recycling it in their own feed, and calling it confirmation. We have Lavelle giving some sloppy run down and it has been repeated too often. I don't think Alvarez + DeLeon passes the smell test either, but the fact that we've had over a month of rumors about this tells me the idea that only DeLeon is on the table is total bunk. I'd sooner believe they've offered us Bellinger, Alvarez, and Urias than that he's the only one on the table. Something else is going on. It may be that we're being too greedy or they're being too stingy, but DeLeon only is nonsense from the smell test.
  5. Again, there is so, so little room for upside. Glad this isn't actually happening. If you want to spend money - fine. Spend it where you might recoup value.
  6. I'm just happy he's no longer on the team. Nothing against the guy personally or even professionally, but his mere presence on the roster last year was a domino effect that set the team back considerably. I hope he has a great year, I'm just thrilled this move is finally done.
  7. Other teams love to stuff their stat lines against them.
  8. I've heard/read a couple times that the belief is he was motivated to do this in part because he felt (probably rightly) that we did the same during his own "elections". I'm less worried about his attempts to meddle as I am with him possibly leveraging political relationships. I know the concerns about Taiwan and China and all that, but Russia is still the most unpredictable future antagonist/destabilizer of the world.
  9. I was intrigued, I always like to give a show 3-4 episodes before i decide anything.
  10. I have to admit, I'd take great joy in how that would ruffle feathers. But I can enjoy that from afar too,
  11. Why do we think Dozier would be a good third baseman?
  12. So we give up our high second round pick, a spot for Vargas or Rosario, and a bunch of money so we can do what exactly? Win less than a handful of games more than we would have? Continue a strong tradition of terrible defenses behind our terrible pitchers? Hope that we can turn him into a prospect good enough to offset all the investments? Where is the upside exactly?
  13. This thread took a weird turn.
  14. I don't think so, I think it is based during the time when the East India Company was basically ruling an entire region of the world as a company.
  15. Looking forward to Taboo.
  16. Playing Bautista in the OF may take a dent out of that value as well, defense is still an issue for this team too.
  17. I mean, it certainly seems he has some sort of dog in the fight in his approach with Russia. Whether that dog has to do with his business or something else, we're going to find out. But his behavior around Russia is nothing short of odd and sketchy.
  18. Yeah, Rodgers is the worse for sure. The Seahawks remind me of him with those antics, maybe that's why.
  19. If you think that guy is blocking Dozier's spot i don't know what to tell you to walk you back from that ledge. But...he's not.
  20. My hate of Seattle has grown not from the loss last year but watching their games. No one seems to whine as much, while getting the overwhelming imbalance of calls their way, than that team. There is something about their personality as a team I just can't stand, maybe I'm not putting my finger on it though.
  21. Well, and you can actually make the case that midseason deals for pitching hold some promise to recoup value. It's still risky, but less so than the case of Dozier. Still, I'd hope he's traded at some point in the calendar year.
  22. I think if DeLeon and nothing else was all the substance of the talks, we'd have heard they broke off negotiations weeks ago.
  23. See, still stubborn.
