  1. If he's the definition of inconsistent and teams know that, wouldn't a strong start actually weaken his value? (Out of the belief that he'd revert at any time) Position players haven't yielded a big return at the deadline since...Texeira? Maybe Beltran? I don't think anyone arguing "just wait for the deadline" has actually looked at the in-season trade history of the last decade. It isn't our friend.
  2. There are other guys to like, but I think he's going to be a 2/3 round pick and he looks to me like a more powerful Jamal Charles. This is the multi-dimensional skill set you want to have in a back.
  3. Sure, but I think Patterson makes more sense to retain. He's an excellent special teams player with upside as a WR. Having him and Treadwell as your top 4 is solid. I'd rather use what resources we have to address other positions.
  4. I would avoid taking her to anything with the name "Timberwolves" in it, beyond that I got nothin'!
  5. Mussina and Radke always struck me as similar in the sense that they were underrated just by virtue of where they played. People didn't appreciate how good they were because they played in low limelight. Mussina was much better than Radke, but I got a similar vibe. I'd vote Mussina in personally. The guy was tough as hell.
  6. Watch some film of the kid. (He's number 6) Excellent in pass protection. Great in the open field. Excellent hands. Freaky agility to make people miss with moves so subtle they are hard to spot. Surprising power. This kid is going to be good.
  7. Operating based on probabilities has the highest probability of success. "Well, you never know! I might get lucky" is about the worst possible rationale I can think of.
  8. I forsee Kamara being a possible late first rounder, which is why I take him with the second round pick. I'm projecting a bit, if I'm wrong and he's a later pick so be it, but I don't think that's going to happen once the league gets their hands on him at the combine.
  9. I've always been impressed with how your kid rocks that Paw Patrol outfit BK. And I've always secretly hated you for prompting the theme song to that show to start in my head every time I see your avatar.....
  10. It's more projecting of the guy I like best other than the elite backs. Kamara has a receiving skill set that may be the best out of all the backs in the draft. I agree that you can find good backs later, but if the right kind of back is there at 2 I'd pick them. You can plug and play a RB day one. I'm not sure you can plug and play a 2nd or 3rd round OL as easily. To be clear, I'm not going to force that pick to be a back, but if a great one is there i'm pulling the trigger. In my book, the need is that high.
  11. I just think so little of Asiata and McKinnon that I think it makes RB a priority. (If the right kind of RB is there that is) And I'd rather draft a back and invest money in the line than the reverse.
  12. I find it hilarious that Roger Clemens' name has been spelled incorrectly in what seems like 8 different ways in a matter of 1 page. I'm not a stickler, I just think that's funny.
  13. I don't disagree, I just see this more as 2nd Round OL > 3rd Round OL compared to 2nd Round RB >>>>> 3rd Round RB. Depending upon the RB of course. Also, given that the team defensively is built to win now, IMO the best course of action for the team is to pursue veteran offensive lineman for immediate needs. I'd use both 3rd round picks on depth/future players. It's why I'd go with something like Kalil-Boone-Berger-Zeitler-Reiff. Or some combination of Zeitler/Reiff/Harris on the right side. (Harris also seems to be back in the loop now after the story I read yesterday) Young OL are going to struggle out of the gate most of the time, I'd rather invest some of the sizable cap room we'll have to just fix that unit with established players and draft for depth/future.
  14. I'm not sure he did all that much to deserve this, it really is on the players and their poor behavior. I think Claeys taking the side of the players over administration was absolutely a factor though.
  15. I think if you can find a multi-dimensional back (good in the passing and running game) you pounce on that guy. I just think the drop off in talent from a 2nd round RB to a 3rd/4th is more dramatic than the drop off in 2nd round and later offensive linemen.
  16. I won't make an argument for Rice, I don't feel he should be in. Just that no other player on that list has a split that dramatic.
  17. I was always a fan of Larry Walker, but his home road splits are stark - more than double that of Bagwell or Guerrero. I think that does (and probably should) factor against him.
  18. It's not so much the crunch part, it's that why are you keeping Treadwell at all if he's not going to see the field? I guess you could draft a project WR late but I wouldn't put much of a need there. Thielen, Diggs, Patterson, Treadwell, Johnson/Wright is a pretty decent group. Anyone you pick up is going to have to slot at the bottom of that group, even if you don't retain Patterson.
  19. Good lord this team....
  20. Which I consider to be the top place where the executive office can make a direct difference. I also don't consider Paul Ryan the problem. (He was apparently fighting the ethics committee thing from the start) I disagree with him on a number of policy issues, but I think he's generally well meaning. I'm rooting for him, someone has to reign these whackos in. I'm not sure who else could do it. (I guess....Trump now as well?)
  21. Well, at the point Chris Davis was labeled a "bust" he was seen as a guy that would crush AAA pitching but wouldn't be able to make it in the majors. The difference between Davis and Colabello is one of them figured it out. So, like I said, not all AAAA guys are the same. Some have former pedigree worth investing in and for that I'm game. But I've been advocating the Twins pursue those types for awhile.
  22. Ah, good point, was just looking at last year's AAA numbers and picked a dude. Not sure the Dodgers have a AAAA player from what I am looking at.
  23. Depends, not all AAAA are made the same. Chris Davis was once seen as a possible AAAA player for example. If that fourth piece is Zach Lee or someone else that has slid back from a formerly high pedigree, I'm good with that.
  24. I would hope that we've learned, by and large, those deals are not wise. Especially for post-30 year old players.
  25. Depending upon how the 2B/SS thing shakes out, I expect a pretty good bounce back by Gibson this year.
