  1. That contract is looking mighty good now huh?
  2. So do the Lions? Huh? I really don't care what it says about their points allowed, they aren't a good defense. They can be shredded by a good offense, they've just played a lot of bad ones so far. I don't know what to make of the Vike's performance against the Saints. I am hesitant to give them credit because I think the Saints played without their foot on the gas because our turnovers handed them what they needed to win. So while I see them look unstoppable today and we largely held them in check....I'm not sure I can conclude our defense is the reason. I'd like to be be able to conclude that, but I think that game was too weird to do that.
  3. Perhaps, that game was just super weird. They certainly didn't cut through us like they are the Rams. But the Rams have a soft defense.
  4. It's amazing how much better the pass rush looks today.
  5. I'd be shocked if we let Reiff go, I think he's been a really solid signing. But Remmers and Rudolph are gone. Rudolph adds nothing to this team. I'll be happy never to watch him catch a ball and fall down 2 yards short of a first ever again. One of the softest NFL players I've ever watched play.
  6. I don't believe your characterization of your criticisms is at all accurate. So I think that's where the conversation ends.
  7. Your criticisms are too much, too dour, and too soon. Is a bad loss in a poorly played game "progress"? Of course not. And there is room to criticize. Your particular brand of criticism is still several years too soon.
  8. Nope, not progress. They are taking heat and rightfully so, that was a terrible effort.
  9. I disagree, but this is obviously a hypothetical I can't prove. But if the Twins played the D-backs 50 times, I think they win 28-30 of them. I damn sure don't think the Pirates are winning 82 in the AL. The Giants sure as hell aren't winning 70. And I'm not sure the Royals aren't actually a better team than the Padres, Marlins, and Reds.

  11. Another win tonight. They are really playing well.
  12. There just isn't a lot of options in the corner infield this year. You won't be enamored with any of the choices if you look at what's out there.
  13. I didn't say they were crap. They just aren't good. And yet, by playing the soft NL, they were leading a division with the Dodgers for most of the season. As soon as they stopped playing patsies like they did the first four months, they got exposed. That's sorta my point - outside of a handful of teams in the NL (none of whom are even elite, just not garbage) - most of the league is just not very good. Their records can't reflect that because all these soft, not-very-good teams end up playing most of their games against each other.
  14. The defensive coaches are not impressive. Young or not, there is enough talent to show better than this.
  15. Yes. Hell, the Twins are better too.
  16. Cleveland telling teams they are selling off veterans like Kluber according to Olney.
  17. Perhaps, but since I pretty regularly watch both leagues where I am now....the difference is stark IMO. And it's not about style of play or any of those issues - they're just not as talented. Not as deep. I watched an Arizona team that was probably worse than the Twins masquerade a playoff contender for four months on the strength of playing the soft middle of the NL. It's not an NBA West vs. East disparity, but it's a disparity nevertheless IMO.
  18. And that's fine, I just don't like the logic of "Well X failed, so Y will too" Because you can apply that to trades, FAs, prospects, or virtually anything the FO might do.
  19. I might quibble with the contracts being a bit low, but I would be down for either. Good stuff.
  20. Because they are entirely different human beings? Not a guarantee, but neither is your logic.
  21. What's Ben Revere doing these days?
  22. All record analysis has built-in contextual issues. I'm arguing that most NL records are mirages. Telling me how they played against other teams teams above .500 means nothing because it was padded against softies like Arizona, Philly, Pitt, Washington, etc. The reason teams like Philly and Arizona were able to pretend to be contenders as long as they were is because that underbelly is super soft in the NL. You're not going to agree because I know you have a personal attachment to the NL. That's fine, but it was evidently clear that the top AL teams were on another level. And having been subjected to Diamondback games most of hte year, I laugh - laugh I say - at the notion that the NL is anything other than the B level right now.
  23. Those relievers prices are what I expect. It won't be cheap.
  24. Baltimore and KC were historically bad, but I think in part that happened because of the quality of the AL. The soft middle of hte NL doesn't impress me at all. That's how a terrible team like the Marlins can look like they aren't as bad as the Royals/Orioles, when in reality they absolutely are. (There is no way in hell the Mets even sniff 70 wins in the AL much less nearly get to .500) Records are contextual and a bad place to start making such an argument. The overall talent in the AL is just much stronger. And deeper.
