  1. Gallo is also a power hitting machine. And I'd love ot get Realmuto for these packages too! But that isn't realistic. Realmuto is going to cost a LOT more. I made a deliberate effort not to be the fan-boy poster who said "I know, let's get Bonds for a bag of peanuts!" Most trade ideas on here are lowballs, I made a point to make sure my trades would be accepted by the other team. If you think they're too high, that might be a reflection that they're realistic. Though I understand not liking hte target.
  2. Spot on. It's depressing to see almost the entire state of MN lit up red on these screens. That is seriously disheartening.
  3. Fair, but check out his splits. It's dramatic.
  4. Sure, but some of you who were more left-leaning had some confidence in taking the Senate a few months back. I never thought that was all that realistic (and said as much) but things are worse on that front than I thought. Not only have they not taken the Senate, the Republicans have widened their margin. That's very disappointing.
  5. I'm very curious to see if the Dems can win state races. Too often they've placed all their eggs in national races only to get their ass kicked in local and state elections. It'd be nice to have an election that starts reversing that.
  6. If I did this again...I'd for sure be trading for Sonny Gray. Some team is going to rescue him from the NY bandbox and get themselves a helluva pitcher for a decent price.
  7. The Senate is a lost cause. I never really thought that was in play. I'm far more interested in if the Dems can take some state races.
  8. It's shocking because he's revered. He's like Belichek to the Pats. I will be shocked some day if the Pats fire him too.
  9. I think the price is likely too high for the production so far. And I'm always wary of NL pitchers.
  10. I voted in a Phoenx suburb today and two republicans and an independent had the same thing happen. Might just be that Arizona is incompetent at being a thing. (Hint: It is)
  11. Same. Felt strange....but the only sane option. Let's hope turnout is high today. When I voted it was heavy on independents, which is a good sign I think. At the end of the day your comment up thread is what matters: if it's a usual turnout, Republicans win tonight. If there's a surge? That'll be good news.
  12. Someone should link that SNL video about that. It's too perfect.
  13. Wow, that's shocking.
  14. Mejia is in the mix for the fifth starter spot on my roster. I did think about Iglesias over Dozier. You might even be able to swap them under this plan for about the same price. But I do like the possibility of Dozier having one last gasp here and I see a spot needed for Lewis or Gordon soon. I'm not sure I want to lock into a guy like Iglesias who is not a good hitter and his defense may start to erode soon.
  15. On Gallo - I like htat he is an option at 1B, 3B, LF, RF. Along with Gonzalez that gives the Twins a ton of flexibility. And a legit slugger.
  16. Yes, easily. My blueprint has him and the payroll sits at 125M. Nick's was 150M without Grienke.
  17. I think Dozier might be cooked too, but I'm just looking for a place-holder that might have some value. I'll roll the dice. It's always hard to predict trade costs, but I don't think I'm as far off as people think on Grienke. It's a ton of money to take on. (And AZ has a black hole at catch, Castro isn't a straight dump)
  18. 19. It'd be helpful if you could lay out your roster Doc. I can't believe I just asked you to type more words in a post......
  20. I don't want to argue about what is or isn't outrageous. I don't even know where one would cap that kind of qualification. What I'm interested in is lots of people doing these blueprints. I think your blueprint was fun to read and very interesting. I'm glad you put your thoughts out there to be critiqued now and later. I've done the same. I hope many others do as well. It will create awesome discussions now and in the future. Plus, it prevents those hindsight experts from claiming what a savant they were in July with nothing to show for it now. I also think these provide a lot of creative, awesome ideas for people to chew on. It's with that in mind that I offered that criticism. Much like there are budgets/limits on many other games we play, they exist to help foster creative and strategic thinking. People being able to say "I want a budget at (fill in any number really) because it's "not outrageous" sorta kills a lot of that creativity and intrigue. Think about any board game with a starting budget, or DFS, etc. These budgets exist for entertainment and strategy purposes Hell, if I wanted to say $160M is "not outrageous....I could literally add Bryce Harper to my plan. I guess I'd prefer we stay within the current budget to encourage more creative thinking and less wishful thinking. That isn't to say wishful thinking is a bad thing, it's just a helluva lot less interesting. IMO, it would make this very awesome idea even better for discussion on the site if people didn't go above 120-130M.
  21. I would think that most plans should want to stay below 125M. It makes the exercise more interesting, IMO, when we have to create within a reasonable budget. Going too far outside what is most reasonable to expect does sorta feel like cheating. I’m not saying that o criticize a plan I’m already on record as liking, just pointing out how much value I think the exercise has when we try to stay in the same range. The argument of "there's no reason..." isn't particularly compelling. Especially in light of decades of evidence.
  22. Trump is trying to turn the migrant caravan into a safety issue to woo women. The Dems would be wise to counter with the reality of how Republicans handled the last major immigration issue. I’d welcome making the vote a referendum on that.
  23. I like it. When I was doing mine the hardest thing I had to choose between was giving Dozier a one year, "make good" deal or investing in Iglesias. I just wonder if his price tag is going to be a lot higher than we think this year.
