  1. All reports down here is that they are treating it as a need. I agree with your logic, but their owner also has a Pohladian reputation down here.
  2. Fair points, thank you. IMO, I think the Sun Belt is more likely to fold over Blue than PA, MI, and WI are to fold over to red. It took historic incompetence from Clinton to manage the latter and all three reversed course two years later.
  3. Winning in 2020 to redistrict is arguably more important than any other issue IMO.
  4. Exactly right. He is much closer to a salary dump than many posters here seem to think. I think if Gonsalves and another guy like Blankenthorn are on the table, you could probably get them to kick in cash and take Castro. (Castro serves something of a purpose for them too. Their catching was ridiculously awful)
  5. It wasn't that long ago that Colorado was solid red too. AZ and NV were solid red and are now pretty much purple. I can't recall the last solid blue state that tipped red. Wisconsin? Even then it seems to be something of a fluke rather than a trend.
  6. The EC/Senate concerns sorta overlap The idea was that sparse populations were being over-represented. That will likely always be the case, but it doesn't have to be a big deal. Rural can still be turned more purple IMO with some honest effort. But my point was that many places that were formerly thought to be red are turning purple in part because of the high population centers going so firmly blue. (Which includes the suburbs) It's a good thing - both for the Senate and the EC - if populations urbanize. More than likely that gives the Democrats a thorough advantage in the majority of states.
  7. Quite possibly yes. Might have to throw in a prospect in our 15-20 range, but yes.
  8. Arizona is rebuilding. And down here, in AZ, they are talking about having to attach Grienke to a Goldschmidt deal just so someone will take him. It won't cost Graterol. Gonsalves could headline a package and still have the D-backs kick in cash.
  9. Also, in politics, two years is an eternity. And it should also be pointed out how well some Democrats did in state races. Kansas now has a Democrat as governor. Maybe taking the Senate back will be hard, but I think a number of red states are becoming more purple. It's funny, you were so worried about the rural/urban split Mike, but I actually think that helps in the long run. I have no doubt that the reason Arizona and Nevada went Dem is the ever increasing suburban populations of Vegas and Phoenix. I also expect that to eventually flip Texas into a wide-open purple.
  10. Honestly, I'd rather not have any of these guys. Maybe Donaldson, but he might be cooked. He's got upside, so I wouldn't complain, but I'd rather invest elsewhere I think.
  11. Especially with the tides they turned at state and local levels too. People are making too much of the Senate - which was heavily stacked against them from the outset. Hyping this as anything but a major victory is stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.
  12. You should build it for your dad. They will come.
  13. Pfft, vacuuming upstairs.....almost as bad as Field of Dreams.
  14. What kind of vacuum? And how many pages can we get out of arguing about your choice in vacuums?
  15. Good for baseball, I wonder how many of these kinds of payouts will exist for any sports as the years go on. There is an increase in cord-cutting and streaming, yet more sports centered channels are competing for rights. I have to imagine at some point these media deals collapse for everyone but the NFL.
  16. Over/Under 1.5 Years: How long until Philly regrets this trade? I think I'm going under.
  17. They played pretty well tonight. KAT and Wig looked inspired. Meanwhile, Orlando beat Philly
  18. The MLB offseason is so lively this thread turned into a Field of Dreams debate! That's....impressive!
  19. I don't know, I won't call her a liar or believable. I've just heard a lot of people say crazy stuff after a job situation goes south. So, there's nothing I wouldn't put past a disgruntled former employee
  20. I'm going to wait and see on this story, but I don't think it's "unbelievable" that a terminated employee would level false accusations.
  21. Personally, I have no problem admitting stereotypes are funny. They come into existence and persist for a reason. And when it comes to the south and the rural west....I unapologetically join in the fun.
  22. I don't need signings, but some chatter about rumors would be nice. Honestly, I didn't even know players COULD sign right now. I thought we were in some kind of mandatory freeze period or something.
  23. House of Cards should've been mercifully put down 3 seasons ago. It was so brilliant to start and it has fallen so, so far since.
  24. Figures an Oregonian would say something dumb like that.....
