  1. I think it's fair to point out that while Dozier likes to have great second halves.....so do the Cleveland Indians.
  2. The Rays got mad that Dozier celebrated forcing a balk? Lame. Dozier celebrated a balk huh? Irony is rich there, but the hypocrisy is the least surprising part of the whole display of nonsense.
  3. Perhaps. Worst thing that happens is they say "No"
  4. Maybe not, but we do know from the past that the Rockies like Gibson.
  5. I would deal Gibson and Rodney for Gray in a heartbeat. I could see Colorado being open to it to, but it depends how frustrated they are behind the scenes with him. It's worth a call for sure.
  6. Why would they want Dozier? I doubt they move LeMahieu or supplant him.
  7. I hope he's closing some games for us in August and September.
  8. We're talking about 16 games. They'd have to go 12-4 just to get to .500. Yes, Cleveland is not a juggernaut, but 7 games against the worst teams in baseball history should not change our perception of the team. This is still a team that got it's ass handed to it in Milwaukee and Chicago. And the majority of the first half of the season. It's like being in the eye of the hurricane and proclaiming "storm's over!" No...we just hit a comfy part of the schedule. Nothing more, nothing less. It shouldn't change what this team is doing by July 31st. No one is demanding they make a deal right now, by noon or something. Just not to get deluded by pasting AA teams at home.
  9. Yeah, didn't want to post that until I looked it up. But you're right, these could be the two worst teams of all time. And people are talking about playoffs? Can I get a meme of Picard face-palming while Jim Mora yells "Playoffs?!?!?"
  10. I love how beating two of the worst teams in major league baseball's recent history suddenly has people thinking playoffs again. Someone queue up Picard's facepalm for when we stop playing AA teams.
  11. Possibly....and hda this year gone as planned I'd be in on the idea. But we need to focus on selling, not buying.
  12. He's, by far, the best catcher in baseball for one. And with the position scarcity I can't imagine him being more valuable than now.
  13. He might have also ignored more important issues like pitch recognition in favor of being old school and tough.
  14. Quick....see what the price tag is for the #1 in the Orioles rotation! Then we'll have two aces! Where a dude lines up in your rotation is relative to the talent on your roster. The Yankees don't care where Gibson ranks in our rotation, they care about what he would add to their team on the field and how long he would add to it.
  15. Kyle Gibson’s trade value is 0% impacted by his ranking in our rotation. That ranking is utterly irrelevant to his value to anyone, including the Twins. What makes him valuable is team control and play on the field.
  16. I generally live my life by "What would Dick and Bert agree on" and then do the exact opposite of that.
  17. All the more reason not to offer those two a QO. I am under no illusion about the team spending big this offseason, but tying up 34M in these two doesn't sit well with me.
  18. I just don't see how August and September are going to move the needle on Gibson. That's essentially what you're saying - Aug and September will make him more valuable in December. Right now his most valuable asset is he'll give you a year plus of team control. I think his team control right now is worth more than any increments of value you might accrue by him continuing to pitch well for two meaningless months with the Twins. I see little or no upside in waiting on him.
  19. We are tossing around QO for Escobar and Dozier, I don't think 17M would be required for either player in order to keep them on a short term basis. Moustakas and others are a good example of that IMO.
  20. We rarely know what is actually out there. Sometimes taking an offer that is less than what you hoped is still better than getting nothing.
  21. Man, there is a lot of risk with that. Dozier is a poster boy for this cautionary tale.
  22. The Twins should be willing to take just about anything for Pressley and Grossman if, for some reason, there is interest in them. You don't have to deal anyone on this list, but they should all be shopped. And if you get an offer at or above what you'd hope - deal them all. You can figure the 25 man roster out later.
  23. Chaff gets you low value returns. Gibson, Esco, Dozier, and Rodney are the only players with a real chance of landing prospects that could help. Baseball players, cruel as it is, are diminishing assets as their age increases and team control expires. Gibson makes a poor bet to extend, likewise the others. If the concern is acquiring decent players for 2019, the team has ample means to do so in the offseason. And they'll have any traded-for assets in addition.
