  1. That's a better way to spend money than better retreads.
  2. Yeah, it doesn't matter how much of a dick Greinke is, you don't throw 92mph fastballs at the head.
  3. I don't think it's a big deal that Pinto stays in AA since AA and AAA are not that far apart. The biggest problem with promoting Pinto (and Koch) is that it further wipes out the lower minors catching depth. If Turner can make the jump to at least low A once he signs it would help.
  4. I'm not dismissing him but I am not considering him a slick fielding SS.
  5. Perhaps you didn't understand my Harper comment. Buxton was the BPA in a weak draft while Harper was a no doubt #1 pick for 2 yrs before his draft. His promotion schedule shouldn't be used as a benchmark for Buxton. He was far more developed than even Buxton at comparable ages. Buxton is great now but Harper was great at an even earlier age. You have mentioned Trout and Machado over and over in this thread. Assuming that Buxton gets promoted next week (as the entire board expects) then he is on the same promotion schedule as those two. So, what exactly is your complaint? How does that make the Twins conservative?
  6. I think Rosario gets overlooked since others have considered his numbers to be good/very good. He has awesome numbers for someone his age playing in the FSL that has a good chance to stay at 2B. Kepler has recently been overlooked based on him being injured and not playing while so many have had great 1st halves.
  7. I have said it in another thread but I think Worley ends up getting another surgery done on his elbow (hopefully only arthroscopic) but I'm further convinced that something is not right with him.
  8. I would love it if not only the Twins made a splash with their large int'l bonus pool money but also if they landed a medium profile Cuban.
  9. Very good is possible but I no longer get the feeling that he's the slick fielding int'l signee that he was considered or that you wrote up. My understanding is that he's getting stockier and has lost some of the quickness (before his 20th birthday) and he has a solid but not great arm. This sounds more like an average (or a little above average) defender at 2B depending on how well he executes the fundamentals.
  10. I am completely confused how anyone can think that a potential promotion schedule of 1/2 season at CR, 1/2 at FM, and 1/2 at NB before being called up is the same old, same old. I am also completely confused by these Machado and Trout comparison complaints. Each of those prospects followed the same 1/2 season at each level (skipping AAA) that Buxton is on pace for. If you are going to piss and moan then you should use facts. Harper was one of the absolute best HS draftees in the last 25 yrs and he played JC ball so he really isn't a comparable.
  11. I have said it before but the only reason that you push Buxton to AA this year is so you can call him up early (April/May) next year. 1/2 a season in Ft Myers and 1/2 a season in NB and that allows him to be called up if he is considered ready. That's fast enough for me.
  12. I have not read great things (little snippets here and there) that suggest Polanco isn't a great defender that he was considered when he signed. He will stick at 2B but he doesn't sound like the plus defender that his reputation suggests. These are just whisperings here and there so it will be interesting if the end of season scouting reports say this also.
  13. I don't see this as a big priority since many of those prospects (Rosario, Berrios and Vargas) are Puerto Rican and should speak English at a high level. Some of the others are MLB filler for the most part. I'm not against hiring a Latin American coach but I don't see why you make it a priority. Especially since this might be Gardy's last year. Let the next manager build his staff.
  14. My 2014 MiLB draft is almost finished as useful veterans continue to be given away. I'm wondering if Billy buck actually traded Stras. That would be complete tank mode which I guess is alright.
  15. Dropbox is working perfectly for my business for me so far. One computer at home and work with a staff computer (limited access) and a separate computer in another (limited access). Latest versions of the files are updated whenever you are on the internet.
  16. Ft Myers still needs to field a team until other promotions happen. I think he will be up in a week or two.
  17. The TD medical staff would have operated and/or amputated yesterday.
  18. Actually it's because there is a 100K maximum for rd 11 players that doesn't count towards the bonus pool but there is no benefit for going under the 100K number. So the Red Sox probably found 500+ K that can be spent on boldt or Sheffield. That's the second point. If negotiations fall apart for Boldt then Sheffield is a backup plan. I expect that this will not be possible the next time the CBA is renegotiated.
  19. Looking further at the Red Sox draft they can only come up with a max of 1M imo w/o losing a pick. Assume that the Denney overslot wipes out any savings from their 1st and 2nd rd picks (Ball and Stankiwiecz) although it's possible that they still need more money to sign him. I think the combo of their 1st/2nd/3rd picks still signs for overslot combined. 5% of 6.8M bonus pool is about 350K. rds 7-10 - 600K bonus pool for college seniors - 500K savings rd 6 is an unknown since it's a unranked (by BA) HS player - 250K slot
  20. Actually to come up with 1.5m the Twins would have to at minimum give up their 1st and 2nd picks next year and possibly as much as their next 2 1st rd picks. It will be interesting to see if the Red Sox just say screw it and try to sign Boldt. They could let him play in a summer league and gain a further eval on him. The loss of their 1st rd pick would be a late first rd'er while the Twins are probably going to be in the top 10. Other than Denney I don't know if they were taking any hard to sign guys or guys that will be way underslot.
  21. I said my piece on a Pinto/Koch promotion elsewhere but it's unlikely to happen since that would further deplete the lower level catching depth. There should at least be an attempt to fill teams with MiLB starting quality catchers instead organizational filler.
  22. It's clearly better to not have opinions. I really don't have a problem with this draft. Not thrilled with Turner but he's still a C+/B- pick.
  23. it's not just about name tough to sign players. There are a lot of guys that have always signed in the 100-250K range. I could easily see the Twins going after 1-2 of these guys.
  24. Buxton should be up well before Sept 2015. Assuming both Sano/Buxton get promoted this month then Buxton will be a 1/2 year ahead of Sano. Additionally Buxton doesn't have the big issues that could slow him down (K's and defense). I would not be shocked if Buxton started in AA next season. I am usually conservative with prospects but Buxton (and Sano) are that good. And I will counter the 'the Twins don't promote quickly' crowd before they even get started. The Twins haven't had anything close to these two since Mauer. The only guys that were tearing up the minors in that time were Kubel and Arcia (that I recall) and they didn't stick to the one level per year so called plan for HS/int'l players with them.
  25. You are clearly not talking about the Twins and college starters. There are several examples in the last decade where a college starter moved quickly and was up with the Twins.
