  1. agreed, and I think the term to use today is "quitters"
  2. It's going to be costly to acquire what is necessary to turn this around. Does the FO want to do this? They have alot to consider. Does what they do impact the chance that Correa stays? Can the Twins realistically afford a $35 million dollar player when they probably need to spend money to get the pitching righted. This goes beyond this season. If they know they need pitching, how much does his contract impact that ability? I personally think the FO is in a tough spot, and Correa's contract is a big part of it. If Lewis was healthy letting Correa go after this season might be the best option BUT, he is not. Unless the Pohlad's increase payroll, not sure we can get the pitching we need if Correa stays. If the Twins fail this season, the whole Correa signing may actually set the organization back rather than moving it forward. If Correa leaves, who plays the position next season? It seems the multiple knee injuries to Lewis, along with Correa's contract, may actually be a real problem fixing the pitching issue. What is everyone's thoughts?
  3. unless he aggravates the injury by playing, then it becomes a disaster
  4. tomorrow is their only chance based on pitching matchups. Lose tomorrow, and it's most likely a sweep. 22-27 the last 49. Pretty confident the ceiling is 83-84 wins.
  5. Won't get fixed this season, and now the starting rotation needs fixing. Hope the FO doesn't send any prospects for a rental. I hope there is a large revamp of the staff next year.
  6. I think the Sox will come alive a bit and take over the division. They are easily the best team when complete. The Twins are what they are, and no need to waste prospects for rentals. Just let it ride. Next year, after Correa opts out, the Twins may fall some. Not sure we have the core of a winning team, or at least a large enough core to be really good.
  7. I never thought this was a 100 win team. Right now it's an 86-87 win pace, but as the club continues to tread water(at best, that number continues to drop. I would be VERY pleased if they could play .500 ball the remainder of the season.
  8. Could care less about the all-star game. Haven't paid attention to that crap for a decade. However, it sounds like there is a monumental effort going on 24/7 just to get him on the field. That is really concerning. Remember, if it's his knees, most likely it will only get worse, not better. The last thing I want to hear is he plays in the all-star game and aggravates the injury. I'm more concerned about his long term health. He has rarely been healthy, and those things generally don't get better as he gets older. Even when he plays alot(this season)it seems there are many things that keep him from being close to 100%. He is great defensively, but has become a liability on offense, and I'm sure that is mostly due to his injuries.
  9. That would be fantastic to have him for 4 years, but it just makes him more expensive from a trade perspective. Dow we have what the Marlins system needs to make this trade? Or, is another team a better fit?
  10. He is injured..this is the Buxton we will see for the remainder of the season..probably 70%. However, there is always a chance he could aggravate whatever it is that ails him, and then my guess his season will be over.
  11. Not sure how much he is helping the team at this point. Buxton's strength is his legs. Legs(knees) typically get worse without extended rest. I would expect Buxton to continue to get worse and a good chance he isn't playing by the end of the season.
  12. Not really good teams. and what we are seeing is a regression of the pitching staff. And it's getting worse, not better.
  13. still not good enough
  14. Not a 5 game blip. Is a 48 game run of 22-26. The bullpen has been bad for quite some time, and now we are seeing the SP start to fail. I don't believe 2 BP arms is remotely close to enough. The only starter I trust is Ryan and Maybe Ober(if he can ever stay healthy). The rest is just fodder in my book. Just watch how poorly Gray pitches the remainder of the season. They are also dropping in the pitching stats. Now 13th in MLB ERA and dropping quick.
  15. Unless the pitching gets fixed, not seeing anything more than .500 by the end of the season. Also, this team is not a real contender, so I would hold off trading any prospects for rentals. This team has to make it as constructed or on to next season.
  16. Unless we overpay, we aren't getting him, or any other quality pitcher. There will be bidding wars for all these guys. Do you really want to overpay to help THIS year's team? They are not going anywhere, so why mortgage the future?
  17. Yeah, the pitching really hasn't been that good for awhile now. Started with the bullpen, and it's essentially everyone(pitchers.) Team is now 13th in team ERA(MLB) and dropping. If you look at the numbers, tonight's pitching matchup does not favor the Twins. There are enough good position players to have some hope for the future. But I see almost no hope on the pitching staff. Not only that, this team has almost ZERO intangibles(doing the little things, etc). I've said it before, without Correa, this team is no better than last year.
  18. They do, so far. Not sure how it will go with our pitching the way it is if we played them now.
  19. The Twins are 12th in team ERA, and falling.
  20. If the Twins make the playoffs, they actually have a chance to break the 18 game losing streak.
  21. let's face it, the only two AL team worthy of a WS appearance is Houston and NY. Frankly, no other AL team stands a chance. And unless the Twins pitching staff does a 180 from the last 50 games, it will be a struggle to even win this division, as horrible as it is.
  22. actually, they are the main reason they aren't better, unless you haven't been paying attention. Can't give credit where it's not due. The offense, and until recently, the SP has the reason for their success. But don't even try to give the BP credit.
