  1. About four innings away from the Twins officially being 1.5 games out of the second wildcard spot.
  2. Two time Home Run champion Tim Jordan of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
  3. The problem will continue to be pitching next season, so it's hard to be exited about the team itself next year.
  4. Find something wrong with him. Put him on the DL for 15 days and call Byron Buxton up.
  5. Nolasco sucks Santana sucks and he's a cheater Hughes had a meaningless good year and now he's at best mediocre. Maybe there was a reason why Terry Ryan didn't like spending money on starting pitching.
  6. Ranger Steve Buechele.
  7. The problem moving him down in the order is you're asking him to be a run producer which he's not. Unless he's expected to hit 7th or lower than he's a table-setter than the bottom of the order.
  8. Toronto's offense is like Joe Louis in his prime. Cleveland's offense is like Joe Louis today. The Twins have embarrassed themselves by allowing 17 runs so far.
  9. This is worse than the Toronto series.
  10. There's no right strategy if you run a candidate that can't appeal to wide set of voters. Base, independent and moderate. The saving grace for Democrats is probably a larger base of voters.
  11. They keep hammering those issues to attract the conservative base. That group didn't show up in 2012 and any Republican candidate needs those people to have any chance of winning.
  12. I don't even hate the trade itself but more the idea of making such a meaningless trade. I'd rather the Twins wait until the off-season than semi-act like there still in contention. Even if it's b.s. just say the asking price was too high. Any player who maybe could kept the team in the wildcard spot that's probably true.
  13. The Fox News moderators earned praise from liberal media outlets like the New York Times. Social issues are an overrated set of issues. He could possibly nominate a pro-life judge but over the last forty plus years there's been pro-life justices and Roe v Wade hasn't been overturned. He's already been on record that the gay marriage ruling is the law of the land.
  14. Mauer can't drive the ball anymore so hitting at Fenway won't help him.
  15. I'd rather the Twins go more new school and younger with the next GM.
  16. Win tomorrow and split with Toronto and keep fighting.
  17. Only a game behind the Angels for the first wildcard.
  18. Good point about the score in the game. I'd like to think the timing was just bad and the Twins added an insurance run so May wasn't even pitching for a 'hold.' You're right we'll have a better idea when May pitches the 8th in a one run game.
  19. I give this thread four more pages tops before it officially jumps the shark.
  20. I always thought Ackley was rated so high in large part due to being drafted 2nd overall.
  21. The fact Trevor May pitched the 8th makes me wonder if the Twins have decided to go in house to 'fix the bullpen.'
  22. If Dave Sims is doing the broadcast than no you don't.
  23. Very depressing when you look to check baseball reference and are reminded that said player (Dave Boswell) died three years ago. Hard to tell with Boswell going forward. One thing for sure there's no way he should have been pitching in 1970 and most of 1971. It's a reminder of the fallacy of 'back in my day.' spiel about pitching through pain.
  24. I don't know if I'd call it poor luck or bad drafting but when the Twins have drafted someone like Shooter Hunt who was projected to be a strikeout pitcher they've flamed out. The philosophy seems to be changing but there's been more relief pitchers than starters drafted. Which would fine if some of the pitchers were already or close to helping the big league club.
