  1. Actually, the point might be that if the Twins are not starting blaming their GM and manager for the debacle this season has been, would looks as bad as rehiring the manager they fired after 99+96+96+92 losses... (Oh wait...) No accountability shows no credibility. For both the front office and the owners. I am not saying fire them all right now, but Pohlad could do one single thing without firing anyone right now: He can actually hire a baseball person who has never been associated with a Terry Ryan Front Office and has a record of building wining teams, give him the title of President of Baseball Operations and have Ryan report to him. This person, with the help of any outside the organization advisers he needs, can assess the situation and the staff in the front office, on the field and in the minors for the next 4 months and come the off-season he would have a carte blanche to build the Twins baseball operations including the front office the way he wants to. Also, he would have enough time to assess the personnel to lead the work on deadline trades and the draft. There you have it. For the first time for me for a while: The Twins should not fire Ryan and Molitor. Yet. They should just hire someone else above them. As for the last point, I am not sure that all those guys can play at this level; matter of fact pretty sure that some (Mastro, Suzuki, Tonkin et al) cannot.
  2. Supposedly they already did...
  3. This guy.
  4. Nothing happened to the Twins' Way (and I don't mean the Minneapolis Street) What you see is the result of Ryan and the Front Office following the Twins' Way. When the Twins were wining horrible divisions and were going belly up in the post-season most people and fans did not complain. When the division got stronger and the Twins are going belly up in the season, people might start thinking twice about the Twins' Way and its architects.
  5. "Construction" is too generous of a word for this. It implies thought process... These guys are taking names off a hat and throwing them until a couple stick,...
  6. The alternative would be to clean up house starting at TwinsPrez all the way down to the trainer, hire a baseball person to run the whole show, hire a GM, manager etc and maybe build a team that will not go 25 seasons between WS appearances.
  7. Mastro at AAA Twins this season: .208/.330/.247 Mastro career MLB: .212/.274/.289 Guess he is part of the solution... Ryan lost it totally...
  8. It cannot be total system failure if Ryan and Molitor have not failed, it can be partial. Period. Total includes those two. Now saying that he is ok with them, is totally not contradictory. It is his MO. He is saying he likes those guys so much that he is fine with failure. And he has not shown anything other than that.
  9. Better late than never but if Mr Spendthrift did not offer them arbitration, he could had signed a decent reliever with that cash. Another nail in Ryan's coffin. No judgement whatsoever.
  10. More like an urban legend, like: Sano cannot play third base
  11. Yes. Very good hands, positioning and leg work. They are pretty similar in goofing off here and there, but Polanco has the higher upside because of age and size.
  12. Few concerns about Fernandez. His numbers are here btw. His best position is DH. Pretty awful on the field and only played 2B before (add 2 years of rust into this.) Very slow. Lead the league in GIDP once and on the leader board several times. His body type is not one that will age well (generously listed at 5'10" and 185; more like 5'8", 200 these days) and he is already 28. If you look at his numbers up there, from 2011 on, you will see a ridiculous BB:K ratio, which I think is unsustainable in the majors, and is what drove his success in Cuba. I think that Jorge Polanco is a better player and it is a shame that the Twins are not taking advantage of that About that pillow fight: Trade them both, put Sano at 3B, Polanco at SS and Esco/Nunez at 2B. Done.
  13. Chris, Eric Curt Kevin Gerald Delwyn Ernie Mike Anthony and Cy (from the top of my head.) But Cy is not that Young
  14. Unless the depth is starting to leave as minor league free agents (eg. Danny Ortiz, Yangervis Solarte etc.) without getting anything in return, or even figuring out what you have, and having to bring in scrubs (eg. Darin Mastroianni, David Murphy, Andrew Albers) to replace them. The fact that the Twins are signing scrubs every post-season (look at the Rochester Roster) means that according to them, they do not have enough "depth".
  15. Buxton has a fatal flaw that first got exposed in the Fall League in 2013: He cannot hit breaking balls. At any level. When the book was out, other than half season in Chattanooga and a week and a half in Rochester, he has been strikeout prone. The Twins have to work with him to fix that. They should have him sit with his bat on his shoulder and look at pitches until the count in 3-2 and then have him take anything that spins like a breaking ball. He has to recognize pitches better. People have been talking about Sano not loosing weight this offseason. Much more disappointing Buxton hacking at balls in the dirt like it is 2015, which means he put zero work this offseason. That's why one of these 2 is a major league player right now where the other is hitting like Drew Butera at AAA. Maybe he is just adverse to work or does not get it or something, and if that is the case the Twins should sell as long as he still has some value...
  16. Hold it for a sec Check out what Wheeler has done at AA and AAA this season. He has been pitching better than any of those guys at higher levels. Ditto for Berrios, Duffey and Meyer, two of which will go to AAA when Santana and Gibson return. Andrew Albers, Omar Bencomo and David Martinez are disposable, but 2 more coming down. Part of the problem here is that Ryan did not trade any prospects this off-season, so there is a log jam
  17. Ok, I give you 2015 and 2016. Maybe even 2014. But the 2013 team was pretty much the same as the 2012 team. Brunansky is the major difference there, which makes me think that in the chicken or egg thing for 2014-2016, Bruno came first...
  18. Same with Abad. 4/27 against Cleveland. A game the Twins lost 5-6. He inherited 2 runs and both of them scored, allowed an additional unearned run and got just one out. He did not do his job by any means. So why that is a good game for him, I do not know.
  19. Not sure how you are counting here. Tonkin had 10 games. In 4 of those he had inherited runs (6 total.) In all 4 games he let all 6 runs score. So he did not do his job. In other 2, he was scored upon, one of them a game loser. So he did not do his job. So for sure in 6 games he did not do what he was called to do. and that becomes 4-6 In other game he gave a hit, a walk, and got two outs. Did he do his job? Maybe. There is no way he did his job in 7 games though
  20. Data: Rank of the Twins in AL in strikeouts (lower better, out of 15) : 2016: 13th 2015: 11th 2014: 12th 2013: 14th - Brunansky Twins' hitting coach ------ 2012: 2nd 2011: 4th 2010: 3rd 2009: 3rd Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc...
  21. Got to add: Lame plays at second base: 23
  22. That should first apply to the President, GM and the Manager who seem to be tenured. Bottom line: This team will not be a contender unless Pohlad sells to someone who cares about wining, like his dad did 30 years ago. Period.
  23. However, they are schedule III drugs. Which means that having them without prescription or distributing them are federal crimes. Can Dee Gordon show a prescription? If not, he should be in jail.
