  1. Bad plan. That should had never happened. Nobody here said that a. Ryan has a plan or b. Ryan even gets it or c Ryan is even a passable GM.
  2. Agreed. Ryan sat on his rear end last winter and when the Twins can do something (like at C now they got a hot bat, Molitor won't.) Just don't tell me that Berrios has pitched better than Nolasco and Hughes. Is he going to be part of the Twins' rotation in the future, unlike the 2 aforementioned? Yes. Hopefully. But his future is not now and these 2 are better than him. Heck Dean outpitched him yesterday. Got to go with the hot hand.
  3. Because, if you are building an attitude of "its ok to lose this season", a loser is all you are going to be. Like these Minnesota Twins. You have to play to win every game, every season and do not accept losing.
  4. That's exactly what the Twins need to right this season and take PAs from Buxton, Kepler and Walker. Bravo Mr Ryan.
  5. Apparently he needs to regain his control and learn to keep the ball in the park. You cannot haul pitchers out who are not competitive in the majors so they "learn". That's what the minors are for. You can hide a gold glove, bad hitting SS or CF, but not a pitcher with 10+ ERA, without hurting the team. It is all about winning. The minors are for development
  6. Because he did yesterday. If he does not do tomorrow, Gibson is up.
  7. The only "decent game" (with above average game score) is the game at Houston and only because of the strikeouts. He lasted only 5 innings, walked 5 and gave up 3 hits including 2 HRs. Not sure that this is decent. Part of it was the opponent
  8. a. Operating word here is "minor" b. You are familiar with the curse of the people who have been named that, correct? And it is twice as bad for Berrios...
  9. "a rough game"? I counted 4. Bottom line: The Twins should play the players that will give them the highest possibility of winning games right now, and Berrios is not one of them. MLB is not a development league. He is going to the right place to develop.
  10. For the ones who were not around and forget: Pohlad offered to make MacPhail part owner before he went to the Cubs and MacPhail declined. This is a pretty good writeup, with Pohlad's offer on page 2.
  11. Been there done that 1900-1964, the first 65 seasons of the major leagues. Without free agency as well...
  12. It is not Hunter. It is the attitude that Hunter brought to this team. It was obvious that this was why the Twins signed him last season and he actually did solve one of their biggest problems in 2014 (and before.) This team needs a winning attitude. Need someone(s) who hate loosing. Hated to see Mauer smile and chitchat with Lions yesterday at first base when the score was 0-7. Wish there was someone to say to Mauer to look at the score and pretend you care for once. (And I am using Mauer as an example.) That's where the Twins' "leaders", including their manager, GM, president, and owner fail. Some don't care about losing (Mauer, Dozier,) some are trying to find excuses about losing (Perkins.) Nobody appears willing to address the problem. It is not Hunter, per se. This is an attitude. And it comes from up high. Pohlad and St Peter never look as mad as the average Twins' fans for this debacle. And in my book, they should be madder. But they don't care. About time that Pohlad sells to someone who cares.
  13. SSS .666 career minor league OPS Sold his soul to you know whom Remember Parmelee in 88 PA in 2011? Centeno has a grand total of 11 MLB PAs this season. Let him hit 150 and then we would re-examine. Regardless, he is the hottest C the Twins have right now and Molitor should play him against all RHSP, keeping Suzuki only for lefties, until he cools off.
  14. It goes beyond that. Competitive teams that are in the post-season chase would rarely go after Rule 5 lottery tickets and will fill their roster with MLB-level players. Ryan does not know how to do that.
  15. It took them 2 seasons of horribleness in the pen to demote him to Edmonton where he was taught the changeup by Bobby Cuellar and the rest is history. Comparing JR and Johan is kinda atopic methinks.
  16. In Rochester? Dean should make it in the bigs...
  17. I think that Berrios' "performance" today sealed the answer to this question...
  18. Looks the same bug that bit Buxton bit Berrios, but I just hope that when they send him down either Meyer or Gibson returns. Hope no Milone or God forbid Albers, but you never know. The kid needs to go down though big time.
  19. Don't look, but Duffey was throwing some 88 mph cookies last night that DicknBert was calling "changes" that looked pretty scary. Per Pitchf/x average FB is 89.7, average curve 79.1. Not that much difference. And, like last season, only the curve is an above average pitch. Hope that he has long success as a starter, but hate to say it, the lead indicators are that it's not going to last.
  20. Fact check: Berrios has a 6.28 ERA (and leads all Twins starters with a 5.94 FIP). He is more "terrible" than either Hughes or Nolasco, if you count with ERA/FIP. If you count otherwise, eg. "potential", Meyer should be in the conversation as well.
  21. Let me put those decisions into perspective: It is like someone finding out that unless they undertake major intervention right now will have a couple weeks to live and the first thing he/she does is gets his/her haircut.
  22. Agreed. No way a punch is accepted behavior anywhere (outside of a boxing and/or an MME match and those things are borderline acceptable.) My point is that Mr Joey Bats provoked the guy by endangering him, so he also is on the wrong here. Too many opinions about whitewashing his behavior last night.
  23. The most logical scenario would be Hughes to the pen, but Ryan will not do it, because: a. he has never put a high paid pitcher with a bunch of years remaining in his contract to the pen (threats do not count; cynical me believes that the Nolasco off-season posturing was just that. Also Pelfrey last season does not count because a. he had a single season left and b. they knew of Santana's positive test.) b. we are not only talking about one bad contract here, we are talking about the extension that should had never happened because it did not need to happen. So it is either Hughes to the DL or Berrios to AAA, sadly.
