  1. And his point, again, is?
  2. Got to love this quote from there: By objective analysis, the 2016 Twins are worse than the 1981 Twins Where objective means the way that Reusse feels eg: RF: Dave Engle vs. Miguel Sano. I’ll take Engle. He cared. Starters: Al Williams, Pete Redfern, Fernando Arroyo and Koosman … I’ll take ’em over what Twins are running out now Cannot even make it up. Either he is a clown or does not understand what the word "objective" means.
  3. Sounds like you are in the St Peter camp
  4. a. "Monster Year" or "Cy Young Year" does not equate with 7th in the Cy Young award vote with 6 points when the winner got 178 and the second 167. One of those 2 is a fact. And, since it was an aberration, like the Suzuki & Dozier "monster years" (read: slightly above league average) that led to extensions, regression was not only written on the wall, was about chiseled on marble. b. Are you defending Pelfrey's extension? c. Indeed. Smith brought Capps to the Twins (and made the post-season because of the move in 2010). Ryan was the one who extended him on the December of 2011 (winter meetings) after Smith was "downsized"
  5. Hate to say it, but I don't think that TR can grasp that concept
  6. I'd rather have Pat Dean than Burnett. The book has not closed on Dean. Hicks hit .388/.426/.510 after he left for AA Detroit and was just promoted to AAA. Plus he has thrown out 50% of the SB attempts. He is 26. I'd rather have him in the majors today than Suzuki.
  7. Who? Phil Hughes at his career season finished 7th in the Cy Young vote with 6 points. First place had 169 and second 157. For perspective. Not.Even.Close Unless you are talking about the Perkins, Pelfrey, and/or Capps extensions...
  8. So was the David Murphy. And there was no issue until the people who are ru(i)ning the Twins decided to DFA John Hicks and lost him. That's the problem here. Ryan will get Burnett to the majors, and unless he 60-days the "proven closer" someone who can help the Twins more next season (because they are helpless this one) will get lost
  9. He does not and that was my point. The Twins need someone above both St. Peter and the GM who actually is a baseball person and cares more about baseball than turning the OF into a cowfield after concerts or unrelated to baseball activities at Target Field or to care more about the product on the field vs the food in the ballpark. St. Peter is fine for what he is. He is just not enough. Plus he opens he mouth on occasion and pretends to talk baseball
  10. Thought that DC was ok, but has been kinda of a cold spring, so LA was way better. Now that it's warming up in Southern California, about time to move up North
  11. The Twins have at least 4 lefties at AAA and a couple at AA who are better than Burnett and his 66 mph "fast"ball. This is worse than the David Murphy deal. Andrew Albers levels bad. It' Pohlad's cash and I don't care if Ryan Burnett's, but I hope the guy does not see the majors with the Twins
  12. The manager who puts Boshers in a save situation (unless it is the 20th inning) should be fired on the spot.
  13. I want the Twins to hire a president of baseball operations who is a proven winner in the baseball universe to run the show and want him to hire a younger analytics-oriented GM with passion for winning. Everything else will fall in place. It might require a different owner too.
  14. Deterioration? What deterioration. You can talk about Perkins' deterioration, but this is what Kevin Jepsen has been. 2015 .242 BABIP, 81.9 % LOB, 7.4 HR/FB & 3.85 SIERA, 4.04 xFIP 2016 .328 BABIP, 68.4 % LOB, 14.7 HR/FB & 4.34 SIERA, 4.86 xFIP Velocity of FB, SL, and CH are the same. Had they dropped to Perkins' levels then we can talk about deterioration. 2016 is a just below average season for Jepsen. He is almost 32 and declining, but not deteriorating (like the Twins' proven closer) by any means... Jepsen is a decent middle reliever who pitched way over his head last season and has fallen to the ground. Hard. Lucky that Ryan did not extend him too. He is what he is. Unfortunately too many people did not look at his peripherals in 2015 and thought that he would be more. Simple. The only thing that deteriorated was (some) people's dreams about who Jepsen was.
  15. Nope. It will be like game never happened if it is cancelled. Only time they pick up where they left is on an official game that was tied and rained out.
  16. Looks like they will call the game. Pretty nasty system coming. At least one less L, yet.
  17. http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/47/f8/08/47f80812067f46de4fcfd4e26ece9278.jpg
  18. That Grossman play at the LF was pretty Delmonic.
  19. In Rochester. Has 2 options.
  20. The small market fallacy aside, Ryan does not know how to do a rebuild. Even in the 90s. He would sign 36+ year old free agents when his team was bottoming, instead of playing rookies. The 2000s rebuild happened for him when no free agent would risk signing with a team that was about to be contracted, so he had to use rookies. And then he sat on his rear happy with the one and outs... He cannot rebuild a team. Or build a team competitive in the post-season. He had 20+ seasons to do it and he did not.
  21. Your wish was TR's command. He just demoted Polanco for Escobar
  22. I am with Ryan on this one (G*d forbid) Quick look at fangraphs, shows that he cannot quite hit fastballs the way he did each of the past season. Likely an indication that he could not turn quickly enough, which can either mean that there are some wrist/forearm/hand issues, or he is trying to go the other way too much, which makes him vulnerable on the inside fastball. Or both. One can check to see whether he had any wrist injuries (I cannot remember.) He does go awfully lot the other way this season compared to previous seasons.
