  1. Too much potential, on defense at third? He wasn't good on defense at 1st last year and even worse at 3rd this year. All of his throws are casual looping sidearm tosses with no mustard. And he is too indecisive with runners on base as to where he needs to go. So he needs to hit. Because his defense will not keep him up.
  2. And yet how many times have these types of innings occurred over the past several years. Relief pitchers allowing BB followed by bad defense killing a good start.
  3. Stewart did well. If he can do that consistently it's a good thing. It moves Pagan further down the pecking order.
  4. I don't think he necessarily HAD to pitch on Thursday. I don't see it as an issue either. If Duran is away today handling his immigration issue, then why not use him last night. Lopez will be available today if needed and Duran should be right back and ready to go on Saturday. Sure the game was well in hand. Maybe Rocco was worried he might be rusty with 3 consecutive days off
  5. Haha. Gruntke, nice one. I have noticed a lot more MLB pitchers doing that this year. Is this a new thing?
  6. I like the rehab aspect. The Twins can't afford to find out where he is in meaningful games
  7. We could go round and round on this. If analytics were the end all be all then guys like Mike Yaztremski who toiled in the minors for years would never be heard of. Or Wade who was claimed by the Giants and had a great 2021 season. How about Rooker. I think he has 6 homers 4 vs righthanders. In Minnesota if he was dh it was primarily vs lefties. How is that possible when the analytics say he has an x% chance of doing so. And turns it upside down. Those analytics give projections. They are right sometimes but players need ample opportunities to establish a base line. And the variables aren't a constant either. Brian Kenny. King of analytics says wins aren't important. How so. If a pitcher is able to keep his team in let's just say 25 out of 30 starts and goes 18-5 like Verlander did last year. How can wins not be important. Sure sometimes you'll get big run production and have an off day and still get a win, but that's not the norm. He also says RBIs are over valued. If a guy drives in 100 runs, he's doing something right.. Today's analytics are given to the GMs for negotiating contracts. And they will focus on all of the negatives. The agents will have the same numbers and their focus will point out all of the positives. Arreaz is another guy. High avg high obp and not much else Is what the Twins would say, but this year his slugging % is way up too. So which player is he? And I never said that these guy who collect and analyse the data are non baseball guys. Or unathletic. Every manager since the invention of baseball has had a book on players and their tendencies. It's just every so often they'd have a hunch and play off that hunch. That's not allowable today. If you don't follow the book, you'll be out of a job. I'm not anti Rocco either. I believe his hands are tied and most in game decisions are determined before the 1st pitch in daily meetings with Falvey and Levine. Have you ever noticed how the Twins don't post a lineup until a couple hours before the game. So unless you're Buxton or Correa the players don't know either. And I know that for a fact.
  8. Billionaires gave been hiring bean counters for centuries. For increased profits and maximizing efficiency. I'm a retired truck driver who increased my company's productivity by 30% with common sense. I was in the field. Owners employ stats guys for 1 reason. And it's not to win games
  9. According to Rocco he's getting a mri. I see IL coming, so he'll have to make a choice
  10. Sorry Aggies7. That was for other poster
  11. But your comment was that this year's bullpen has thrown only 4 less innings in April. Well that's wrong because they played 4 less games last April for the entire month than they've played as of today
  12. That's why I pay little attention to all the stats guys. You and I and a whole bunch of others see the difference. But they won't admit it
  13. So today is April 26. Are you saying the Twins have 4 fewer bullpen innings from this date, or after 25 games. Because on the 26th of April 2022 the Twins hadn't played 25 games
  14. And you're revising it too. The Twins were getting longer starts from Ryan and Paddack. Bundy had a couple. But when Bundy Archer and Gray which is 3/5 of the rotation what were the bullpen innings for their starts. That theme ran all year long. Enough to where Sonny Gray had an article about letting pitchers go longer this year.
  15. That is correct. Archer was getting pulled after 4 or 5 with a light pitch count and the lead. Same for the rest of the starters last year early because of the short spring training. The bullpen was being called on for 12-15 outs a lot
  16. Blowout game and load management
  17. I saw them at Dicks. Near the swimming goggles
  18. One thing I've noticed about this year that mirrors 2022. They haven't been able to put 6 or 7 game winning streaks. Even with much better starting pitching this year. The hitting has been off for quite a few games I know. But good teams find a way to win the close games. I don't know if that has anything to do with the lineup shuffling. I think the Twins used the same lineup the 1st 2 or 3 games. I hope they can put it all together and go on a 10-4 or 11-3 type run. Separate themselves from the pack
  19. Hey. If it gets him going good, nows as good a time as any. Young guy, down by 10 and still battling. That ball was up too. I can't believe he hit it as well as he did
  20. Do suppositories work any better?
  21. Load management should only apply to the NBA, NFL NHL or MLB don't need to go in that direction.
  22. I think he uses a Texas Instrument to back up the ouija board data
