  1. No problem with leaving him in high A for the year. He can be accelerated next year. Pushing him this season does no good. Let him dominate for a season and throw 150+ innings. If he destroys AA for a couple months then promote him to AAA and give him a September call-up if success continues or sooner with an injury. The only SP prospect I can recall being pushed pretty hard is Garza, and he was a college guy.
  2. I chewed tobacco from high school all the way through college. At the national tournament my senior year I chose to quit. My athletic career was over and I had to move on from the habit. Best decision I've ever made. The stuff is dangerous and hard to quit. I will be very actively involved in my kids decisions with it when they are around 18.
  3. That pitch is nasty. I hope this is the Phil Hughes the Twins get throughout his contract.
  4. I have mixed feelings about him moving back to CF. I really want his bat at 2b. I get that Dozier has been pretty good, but I'd try him at SS again. Especially since Buxton isn't too far away. On the other hand, the Twins have a huge hole in CF right now and Rosario fills it.
  5. Hicks needs minor league time to work on his game. I don't think he belongs in the majors until he shows sustained success down there. Rosario is the best option in CF IMO. What it does for his development remains to be seen, but I could see him handling the transition smoothly.
  6. I feel like the strikeout comment is a bunch of fluff. He wants them, hes just being modest about it. He seemed like he had more of a cocky attitude after the draft last year, I wonder where that went?
  7. How do you know it is Anderson and not someone else? I don't think Phil Hughes doing well covers up the flawed philosophy he pushes. He wouldn't be an MLB coach if he was terrible. I just feel like his time has come and gone.
  8. Is this really a discussion right now? Its hard to believe the Twins are actually this close this late in the year. One more clunker by KC and/or Deduno we could see May in the rotation too. Let Rosario keep burning up AA and he could be added depth later in the year if Escobar or Santana hit a slump. Can't reasonably hope for the Twins to make a push this season. Next year is a much better possibility with Sano, Rosario, Meyer, and May likely to be spending a lot of time with the Twins. Vargas, Buxton, Berrios not very far behind.
  9. Have you even looked at league leaders in stats? Everything you just said is wrong. Do some research. Strikeouts aren't the end all be all, but they are pretty pivotal for a pitcher. It's been said countless times on here, a ball put into play will fall for a hit a certain amount of the time. Some pitchers are a little better at avoiding hits than others, but they are all pretty close. Strikeouts eliminate a ball being put in play and thus less balls in play means less hits, less baserunners, and less runs. Don't buy into the twins gimmick about pitching to contact.. it simply just doesn't work.
  10. Care to define what NOT EVEN CLOSE is? Kohl Stewart is widely regarded as a potential Ace with a plus fastball and plus slider. Berrios is a year further along and is therefor more polished. Lets see how Stewart performs the rest of the year. Not taking anything away from Berrios, but you're not being fair to a guy that has 75 professional innings.
  11. I don't think it will matter where he is and how well the twins are doing (btw are you really suggesting playoffs? ). I hope at least. Hopefully he is going to be a big piece over the next decade, one fringe playoff run is no reason to ruin that.
  12. Can we play pick the date for tj surgery?
  13. Good for the twins. Seems like they are really trying to avoid injuries to their top pitching prospect. Nothing shuts down a potential playoff contender like an injury to a top sp pitcher (liriano 2006). Similar to the Stewart situation, I see this as only a good decision. I think it's more because of his issues last season than anything else. More injuries happen when the arm is fatigued. In addition, looks like he isn't part of the plan for the twins this season. Really don't know how you'd justify an 80 pitch limit for him then. If he does come up it will be in the pen, which is disappointing but I could live with it.
  14. Changes have to be made. These guys are right be filling this suit. Just giving these kids 50k would be plenty for them to get by and would hardly break the bank for MLB teams. That might create a little more accountability for roster spots in the minors too. I'm not a union guy, but the minor league guys are really getting the shaft.
  15. Baseball is about adapting. I almost guarantee the twins sat down and created a plan for Stewart. Developmentally and health-wise. I like this approach a lot. Who cares if he strikes out a few less batters for a season (or a few months... We don't know). If this approach works... I bet you anything teams around the league start doing it too. I wouldn't be surprised if it is already a talking point. Pretty surprised by the negative reactions to this.
  16. Brock,

I'm having trouble viewing the site in my browser. It seems like it is overloaded with spyware and completely bogs down my computer. I have adblock in chrome and it goes crazy every time I visit the site.Need some help. Might be on my end too.

  17. So can Nick and Seth finally move out of the basement?
  18. We should package him with some guys to get a young ace pitcher.
  19. How could you have not seen this coming!!#$@@1 O, you're being sarcastic.
  20. He will adjust. I'm sure they have figured out what is going on by now. Plouffe just has to adjust accordingly. I think he just needs to get aggressive early in the count again. I love that the Twins have a guy like Plouffe that gives us something to talk about on the way to a 90 loss season for the 4th or 5th season (who's counting anyway).
  21. Milk is a pretty poor choice for calcium. Just in case anyone cares.
  22. I find it odd that the Twins don't try to expand into Iowa too. Completely unfair that some parts are considered blackout areas yet don't carry the Twins. Same happens with the Vikings.
  23. I'm excited about the start for Plouffe. I've always (always) been a supporter of him and hoped he could someday play exactly like he is now. His play this year gives the Twins some options. If he hits the whole year I could see the Twins giving him a team friendly 3 year deal with an option. I could see 3 years 12-15 million not being bad. Hard for a deal like that to hurt them since he can play so many positions. Might even take more than that. His offensive/defensive abilities (even just being average at both) are a commodity. If he continues this play into next season, and Joe Mauer continues his..... where do you put Sano? For all the crap Plouffe gets about his defense, it might actually be better than Sano's. Plus, he has the frame to stay at 3b for most of if not all his career while Sano does not. Plus, he is the veteran and the Twins tend to be pretty loyal.
