  1. Sounds like a fantastic stalking trip. My biggest questions are if Sano passes the eye test at 3b and Rosario at 2b.
  2. Its possible he is figuring it out. I hope so. It would be nice to see a respectable 2nd baseman on the Twins again.
  3. Maybe. Depends on how the rest of the year plays out. In order for me to say yes these things have to happen: Plouffe's break-out is legit (follows up with a strong ending to the year), Gibson looks like he could be ready to start the year in MN (being ready and actually starting are different), Blackburn turns his season around, Baker doesn't have set-backs, Hendriks figures it out (biggest question mark), Morneau being healthy, and one of the young OF is ready for a full time role. If all these things happen, which isn't that crazy, I say yes. With Hendriks and Gibson you will add 2 guys instantly that can be at least league average, maybe better. Not much should be expected of Baker, but league average isn't crazy. I know it wont happen, but add Grienke and this team would be pretty good. Playoff team with pieces to trade to get another elite pitcher if wanted. I just don't like the notion of thinking it is impossible for this team to put up big money for a pitcher, when pitching wins games.
  4. kab, I'm also not impressed with Herrmann. He looks like a back-up catcher to me at this point. Catchers that can hit a little bit and play adequate defense stay around for a awhile, so I'm not saying he is a terrible prospect. Matt- I think most prospects include a lot of risk. Many of these guys are in the minors because they have things to work on to get better. As prospects work up the ladder and stay consistent the risk drops and potential is clearer. Arcia, for example, would have less risk on my list since he has performed so well and stayed consistent. Every prospect has risk.
  5. I love that Twins fans boo AJ.
  6. My opinion is that Baker is back on an incentive type deal with a club option. Makes too much sense for both parties.
  7. Sounds like AJ was just pumped up. His team is afterall, in a playoff hunt and every game counts. Don't mind this so much.
  8. Come on Twins. Its not even funny to joke about anymore. This has to be fixed. Please send Alex to someone that can help him.
  9. To get elite starting pitching, eventually you'll have to pay for it. This team isn't on a ****ing 60 million dollar budget like you guys think. They have 100 million to spend. If they EVER want to compete, they have to get good starting pitchers that aren't just rookies coming up through the system. The thought that they shouldn't put up money for it is like chasing your tail. Put your money into a guy you're confident that can stay healthy and pitch at a high level (like Hamels). I wont have any expectations for this team until they get an elite pitcher. They might be able to compete in the central, but nothing past that. Get over the little guy syndrome already.
  10. I think your grades are low on Gibson, Hicks, Benson, but doesn't look too bad. I might put Danniel Santana higher along with Walker and Vargas in the top 20?
  11. I knew it was a percentage, just didn't have the exact number. That extra 5% must be a compromise for the hard slot. I like it though. Teams should be more concerned with development than when they will actually have to start paying a player... In theory at least. There will always be situations like the O's and Weiters where it is obvious and just stupid to deny the reason for not calling a guy up.
  12. Where do you find those?
  13. AJ- I really wouldn't call making room for Joe Mauer selling high. JR just got a nice haul for him. Knobby- He wasn't happy in MN and everyone knew it. Kielty- Might be your best example of JR getting it right. However, Kielty looked like he had put it together and many weren't excited about this trade. Aggie- What are you referencing here? The Twins traded him to dump salary and didn't get anything in return. Santana- If they sold so high, why didn't they get a legit MLB player in return? Answer: they waited until they were handcuffed and took a ****ty deal. Garza- Selling high isn't what I would call this trade. This was a change of scenery trade that worked much better for the Rays than the twins.
  14. Depends. Where is your money better spent? I say its better spent on elite starting pitching. Although, Grienke has not been elite for a while, he has still been very good. This type of ballpark would fare well for him too. It would just have to be for the right price.
  15. Very pumped Rosario is back in Beloit.
  16. Correct... I think. The amount he would pitch in Sept this year wouldn't make as much of a difference as when the Twins call him up next year.
  17. Might as well see if he could cut it I guess. With the new defensive specialist, I doubt Casilla will be with this team next year. No need to have Dozier, Carroll, Casilla and defensive wizard acquired in the Liriano trade.
  18. Maybe I'm missing something, I don't want to look up the info, and I'm sure there are noobs on here that have no idea what a super 2 is. So (common voice)... If Gibson were to come up this Sept. then sent back to AAA until May of 2013, he would then probably qualify as a super 2 since in 2013 he would get enough innings. If they waited until mid June he might not quality, since he might not get enough innings. However, the IP or PA varies slightly every year right? So, even if he becomes a super 2, why would his appearance in September have anything to do with it? A player has a certain number of years of service time before arb (3 right?). So, a super 2 would basically mean 2013 would count as an arb year, regardless of his appearance in 2012. Like I said, I'm not looking this up and will take your word for it if I'm wrong.
  19. Blackburn is actually throwing alright. He's been lucky a few times, but not bad.
  20. I don't have a problem not moving guys. I'm also of the opinion that if they sign Grienke they will be right in the mix next season and beyond. I doubt it happens, but they could even sign Grienke and Liriano. There will be enough money, and with Grienke, Frankie, Gibson, Diamond, Hendriks with Baker signed cheap... that is a playoff rotation. Add some offense with the prospects coming up and Morneau fully healthy and the Twins could win a lot of games. I'm not sure if JR feels the same way (that this team could compete with some legit FA pitchers), but keeping your best chips when you don't get the offers you want is what good GM's do. If they can't sign some pitching then they have the opportunity to trade.
  21. We need the penis helicopter.
  22. Weird and sexy story at the same time. Itstimetotakeit found Brock's house and showed up one night. Things got weird and he hid in a closet with a bunch of ice. Brock woke up tied to the bed with a funnel and tequila being poured down it. This is the sexy part. Then, when things couldn't get more out of hand, itstimetotakeit stole BYTO like the napster guy had it stolen from him. Except this time there was pictures of Miguel Sano without a shirt and a vintage Joe Mauer poster from highschool.
  23. No, I just remember the grumblings about the dissatisfaction with the winter leagues last year. Maybe it was just about Venezuela, but I thought the DWL wasn't a serious league and the Twins weren't high on it.
  24. Why are you guys drunk on a Monday? This is getting weird.
  25. I think Plouffe is just fine. Valencia is playing for his future in the MLB at this point. I never want to see someone fail so hopefully he does well and the Twins can trade him for something this offseason.
