  1. Good for the O's to have that kind of player. If he can swim with the big fish why keep him in a pond?
  2. What exactly is a great leadoff hitter then? I'd say currently that Span absolutely is a great leadoff hitter. He's not a HOF, but if not great he is very good.
  3. Arcia is easy second and almost first on my list. Sano really looked like he adjusted toward the end of the season, and keeps the top spot because of it. Hard not to be excited about what Arcia did this year.
  4. I want tethering, to delete some bloatware, and the ability to customize my phone a little more. I guess I don't HAVE to do it, but from reading some of the geek forums (no disrespect to my fellow geeks) everyone loves their phone rooted.
  5. Damnit. Fatbeer wont ever get the chance to respond to my post. First known meltdown on Twins Daily. We should make a forum section just for meltdown threads.....
  6. Any tips? I'm planning to do it tonight to my galaxy s3.
  7. I leaned toward yes at first also, but Bert came to me also and reminded me that this is a big boy game. You learn and get better by gutting through the tough times. What good does shutting him down do? Avoid injury? Are you ****ing kidding me? Instead of letting him try to finish the season strong and going into the offseason with confidence you want to pull the plug at the first sign of adversity? These aren't fragile teenage girls. Get a grip dudes. Even if he gets rocked, who cares? He needs to get better and be able to finish a season. I've had enough of the coddling. This is baseball. Mauer and Morneau have been ripped for not finishing seasons, and this year they actually are. Mauer is a little dinged up, but I bet he still plays.
  8. Yes! My voices are being heard! P.S. I was just messing with you in the other thread Seth.
  9. Its possible. Gibson and Baker's contribution are the biggest questions going into the season. If the Twins can even get 1 quality pitcher and Baker/Gibson have positive contributions this team would be pretty decent. It certainly isn't out of this world for them to compete.
  10. Disagree. SS is an important position, one that makes a big defensive impact. I can handle amazing fielding SS if they can hit even a little, draw some walks, and maybe steal some bases. Florimon does none of that, and isn't even a very good fielder. I seriously don't get the love for this guy. Yes he is smooth and makes some nice plays, but how can the same guy that ripped Plouffe for inconsistency praise someone that has been just as bad? Plus, Florimon might not even hit over .200. Penciling him in for SS next year would be a terrible mistake and almost guarantee futility.
  11. fatbeer, I'm on Brock's side on this. How can you call Obama soft when 1. he killed Osama 2. he pledged to pull out of Afganistan ASAP and went against his own party to keep troops there and pull out gradually 3. hasn't cut a cent on the military budget despite it being the most obviously bloated part of our national expenditures? Its asinine to try and put Obama in a stereotypical Liberal box. One of the things I knew from him being elected is he would think for himself and make decisions he felt were the right decision. I don't think anyone has been let down with that. He is not my ideal candidate by any means, but when you are putting him next to a guy like Romney he looks brilliant. You also knocked McCain. McCain lost because he didn't come out with firm stances that go against the grain of the GOP. Add in a terribly run campaign and he didn't deserve to win. McCain being more of a moderate had little to do with him not getting nominated, despite what Rush says.
  12. Since its "Twins Daily" shouldn't we have a vote on that? A more accurate tittle would be "Seth Stohs's minor league ......" Not that I'm too upset, just feel like I got punched in the stomach. Its okay Seth, we are just your peons to comment on your articles and make funny faces like this . I'm not sure who I am anymore.
  13. Agree that Michael is certainly "on people's radar" as a recent 1st round pick. It is interesting to me that he has fallen off the map when it comes to top prospect lists after just one full season in which it clearly took him half a season to adjust to wood bats and quality of competition. The nice thing is that one could make the argument that it is the increase in high achieving/high ceiling prospects that make it easy for a player like Michael to drop. A couple years ago, Hicks didn't fall as far, but that was probably as much a result of a lack of quality prospects as it was his high potential. Or he's just not that good. There was a point where I thought his season was turning around... We will see how he does out of the FSL, but he was supposed to be solid all-around. Hicks didn't fall because he was young and had a ton of tools. Michael isn't young and doesn't have the same type of tools.
  14. From what I've seen from Florimon, his defense is noticeably better. However, I think Dozier will hit enough to offset it. His defense is fine, probably more of a 2b, but don't think he is a disaster.
  15. Michael is a 1st round pick.... He really shouldn't be under the radar rather under the microscope.
  16. Very meh game. This team will be lucky to win 2 conference games.
  17. The defensive metrics haven't been nice to Plouffe. I haven't watched many games in the last month, but the ones I have watched I don't think he's looked great, but acceptable. Maybe he wont be the answer, but the Twins will give him the chance to find out.
  18. I know it counts. Arcia is also a capable OF. You're dismissing the gap between the 2. Again, Hicks is 1.5 years older and finally put up a nice season. Arcia has destroyed every level and is so young that developing more power is a given. Hicks will be a fine player if he continues to improve and builds on this year. Arcia will be a monster if he continues to improve and builds on this year. The defensive ability of Hicks wont outweigh a 100+ difference in OPS.
  19. Felix Jorge has the upside, don't think we can really give him a ceiling yet.
  20. Plouffe is still playing with his thumb issue. Not a fair criticism if you ask me. When we found out exactly what it was, I thought he was in for a tough rest of the season. Inconsistent at 3b? He has been much better than expected and continues to improve. He'll never be a gold glover, but fielding at 3b has been adequate. I realize he had one good streak, but the streak ended with his injury... which kept him out a month... and had to alter the way he holds the bat to avoid putting pressure on the nerve causing the discomfort. I'd like to see him rebound too, but his season this year has given him the opportunity to see what he has next year. Parmelee at 3b? No. Its one thing to put him out in RF where he has a lot of experience, its another to put him at 3b where he has none.
  21. Two parts to this: 1) Missing bats--Hendriks doesn't have the kind of stuff challenge hitters and get strikeouts. It shows when he is hitting his spots, but getting long counts with lots of foul balls. 2) Lack of movement and deception. The fastball looks really straight to me and when Hendriks changed speeds or threw a breaking ball, it didn't appear to fool hitters. As written above, I also thought he threw a lot of good pitches at the knees and didn't get much help from the ump. I don't know what the solution is, although I have seen guys succeed with less in their tool kit than Hendriks has.The problem with this, is that AAA isn't a joke. Hendriks had success doing something different in AAA than he has done in the MLB. The Twins know it and have made comments about it (I imagine exactly what Gardy is referencing) and Dickbert have alluded to it. I don't buy he doesn't have the stuff. With as good as his results were in AAA, you have to have something. A straight FB or a whimpy curve in AAA get pounded as hard as they do in the MLB.
  22. Unless you're paying Pavano with peanuts, you'd be paying him too much. If Pavano would sign at the minimum then fine. Baker is a much different scenario. He is younger, better, had an injury many come back from, and has been with the Twins his entire career. Pavano may take a huge cut in pay, but he just isn't a good fit for the Twins at this point. After saying that I'm sure they'll probably sign him (it'd be just like making a trade).
  23. There was a reason the Twins got a steal of a deal on him. I don't think anyone will be throwing young pitching prospects at the Twins for an aging OF coming off a career year. For a salary dump? He is gaining value back right now, but still wont be able to bring anything back until the deadline. They will start Parmelee in RF until then, and call-up one of the young OF after trading Morneau. Yes. Maybe. You can't just put yourself in a box like that, but the Twins shouldn't feel pressured about them (which they obviously don't). They already have the money coming off the books to do this. They could go out and sign Grienke if they wanted without really trying to dump any salary. This is somehting that has to happen or there should be riot at Target Field this winter. Nobody is. Waivers happen to everybody. Overrated and signabilty issues. I bet he drops again in this draft because of it and gets forced to take less money. Twins would have drafted him this year if they liked him. You mean the senior living centers? JR fishes for talent in that steaming poo pile every year.... as do every other team in the MLB. Sometimes they pan i.e. R.A. Dickey this season, but times they don't. Finding a guy like Burton really isn't easy. I think if there is one prediction that comes accurate about who the Twins target, the rejects and cast-offs (or steaming poo pile) is and easy bet. Will they get lucky? Doubtful.
  24. I don't think so. At this point I think its a mental thing for him that he has to overcome. Gardy is right about everything he said. At some point this will click for Liam, I hope its just sooner than later.
  25. I confess I looked him up because of seeing some posts about him... hadn't heard of him yet. I have to say from the surface he looks good. I haven't watched him speak yet or gone into too much detail about his past. I hope he can push his way into some debates and get recognized (even though neither GOP or Dems would want it to happen). If Ron Paul doesn't go independent I will vote for Johnson. I'm tired o
