  1. Any idea what happened?
  2. I'm siding with John on this one. If they thought Revere and Span would be out for a significant portion of time they would have called up Parmelee. I bet they think it will be a couple of days and wanted to give Carson some AB's and leave Parmelee where he is until they can call him up and leave him with the Twins. I don't really agree with their handling of him and Hendriks this season, but I can see why they are doing what they are (doesn't make it right).
  3. How come my post has to be reviewed by a moderator before being viewable? Did I do something.... bad? *wink
  4. John, we ran in different wolf packs at the time, but this couldn't have been too far off the radar. The biggest surprise was losing Baker for the entire year. Add this to Pavano's arm falling apart and 40% (the best 40% BTW) of the rotation was toast. Then you had Blackburn and Liriano, both of whom were terrible in 2011. I don't think anyone believe Liriano would be as terrible as he started the season, but most thought Blackburn would be. The rotation will be better next year hands down, and hopefully they will surprise us and sign a pitcher with some talent.
  5. Pretty sure I posted this a while back about Diamond deserving some ROY love. Obviously Trout is a sure thing, but Diamond deserves more attention than he is given.
  6. I, too, think this an easy top 10 Dave. Sano, Arcia, Buxton should all be in the top 50. Rosario and Hicks shouldn't be too far out of the top 50. Berrios, and Gibson should be in the top 100 (other pitchers haven't been docked that much for coming back from injury). And there is a few guys that could be considered in the 150 range. I'm sure there are other top 10 lists that have some higher upside arms, but doubt there is many with this much talent all the way down.
  7. I'm excited to see his results when he comes back up with the Twins. I wish it would happen 2 weeks ago.
  8. Jorge went 4IP 5H 2ER 0BB and 4SO yesterday. He only has 4BB in his last 21.2 IP, with 22SO. Encouraging sign to me. Overall he is sitting at a 1.82 ERA in 29.2IP with 30SO and 10BB. Opponents are only hitting .207 off him with pretty even splits against LH and RH batters (SSS). With only 9 games left he might only get one more start, but I am pretty confident in saying this has been a successful season for him. Next year he should start in E-town, and it wouldn't be crazy to think he could end the year in Beloit if things go well. Between him and Berrios, the Twins might have some high upside arms to go along with their high upside bats coming through the system.
  9. iffy is being generous. Once Baker went down it was over. Add Pavano early in the season on top of it and the Twins had no chance. Adding them two pitching to expectations (reasonable ones) and the Twins could be around 500. That is only winning 8 more games. Even if everyone was healthy though, this team would have trouble competing for a playoff spot.
  10. Are you sure? He didn't just tell you this... and its actually some dude pretending to be a girl online he hasn't met yet and is probably going to kidnap him and leave him tied in a basement for a month before standing in front of a mirror doing silence of the lambs part deuce?
  11. I haven't watched a ton of games in the last month, but has he really been that bad? Seems like he has just been struggling to adjust a little, and maybe the move was to try to give him a change of pace and different atmosphere. I don't think the Twins are sending a message like they did with Valencia, they probably just believe he will benefit from a little time down there.
  12. Way too much excitement and explanation points in this thread.
  13. The only reason I would rank Herrmann around the top 10 is because he is a catcher that can hit a little bit and play in the OF. I see a guy like him having a good chance to contribute.
  14. Many have speculated that Hendriks was working on something specific AAA. If I was the Twins, it wouldn't matter what level Hendriks pitches at right now, in fact I'd have him in the best place for his development. They feel like that is in AAA. Doesn't really matter this season, but I hate it, I'm a believer in adjusting to a level and going through growing pains. Putting him in the pen would just prolong his development IMO. They should just put him in the rotation and leave him there.
  15. If its 100 mil the Twins will pass. I'm not sure what their/his number would be, but I would do 80-90. It is going to be a big decision for Grienke, since this will likely be his biggest contract and a significant portion of his career. I really don't see the Twins doing it, but I really wish they would.
  16. Blackburn will start in the rotation in place of Baker or Gibson, and be DFA by June.
  17. Another very nice game for Hendriks. I really hope he's ready soon. Parmelee with 2 HR's, now sitting at a ridiculous 1.120 OPS. If Span does go on the DL, the Twins almost have to call him up and let him lumber around in RF.
  18. Felix Jorge likely won't be in my Top 50, but he is a very good prospect. Very young, throws hard, developing secondary stuff. Jorge has a chance to move up, but could take him another two seasons just to get to Beloit. Very young. Very talented. Good, live arm. I gave him a high spot based on his projectability. He has some work to do, but he's still just 18. I like his delivery, I like his arm, I just like him as a prospect right now. He will need to have better command and develop his other pitches as he moves up. He might be a little high, but that's why its my list lol.
  19. I like Jurrjens a lot. I think it might just be time for a change of scenery for him like it was for Lohse with the Twins. Adding him, one of the 2nd tier starters and this team looks better already.
  20. This offseason is much different than last. Baker, Pavano, and Liriano were supposed to anchor the rotation. Baker and Pavano obviously got injured and Liriano imploded. I can't fault JR too much for that, especially considering the FA market was pretty bad. There will be money to spend on someone this year. I really don't understand all your negativity greengoblin. The Twins have had a few bad season with their organizational starting pitchers blowing up. Add Gibson, Baker and a FA to the starting rotation and this team is good again playing meaning baseball. Personally, I want Grienke. Having a rotation of Grienke, Baker, Diamond, Hendriks, Gibson will win a lot of games IMO. That would likely be the best rotation in the Central, with a chance to be better. Obviously Baker and Gibson are question marks at this point, but there is enough depth in the system to get by if they need time in AAA at any point in the season.
  21. Mine go like this. This top 10 is easily the best amount of talent I've seen in the Twins system since I started following this team. 1. Sano 2. Arcia 3. Buxton 4. Hicks 5. Rosario 6. Gibson 7. Berrios 8. Kepler 9. Benson 10. Harrison 11. Jorge 12. Herrmann 13. Jones 14. Boyd 15. Santana 16. Polanco
  22. With Rubio what does this game look like? A 7 point game isn't much to turn around. Especially given that Rubio is a great defensive player. Its a large feat given the USA's talent, but its always fun to speculate.
  23. Its not just that, he has a low avg and obp. All he is doing is hitting some homeruns. Which is cool, the guy has some power, but with a low contact rate and no ability to take a walk he wont get very far.
  24. Wow, all-star line-up tonight.
