    LOL, they just mentioned about how we used to complain about Punto. How I miss the days when we could complain about a scrappy hitter with amazing defense being a dud in the lineup! Compare that to the pitching problems now and it seems pedestrian.

    Too true. I'd be surprised if De Vries can keep an ERA under 5. However, Blackburn's start in the minors is interesting. His GB ratio over over 2:1. I don't understand how he can't get GB here, then he goes to Rochester and gets them at a 2:1 clip. Anyone want to bet he starts again this season?

    I like this ad a lot. Its strange to me the direction the GOP is heading. While the dems are seemingly trying to reach out to the middle-class/upper middle-class, the GOP is fighting for the 1%. I'm a Ron Paul supporter so not your classic Republican, but what Paul has created a type of Libertarian Conservative. The more I pay attention the more it seems the GOP refuses to evolve and bring new solutions to the table. Now, I'm not in favor of handouts by any means, but do think its time the US gets tax money from people it deserves. Why do I have to pay so much in taxes when someone that makes 10 times more than me can hide it and end up paying less than I do? The system is broken. I don't trust Romney will correct it. As much as I disagree with some of the positions and decisions Obama has made, he is still more of a leader to me than Romney.

    I look at them when the Twins play a team they haven't played for awhile, but otherwise don't bother most the time.

    Disagree. It is low now because its a full of unorganized junk. The other forums in BYTO were more specific and easier to navigate.

    I guess that makes more sense. If I were the Twins though I'd be doing everything possible to make my first round pick succeed. If that means releasing players or moving people around thats what you do.

    I didn't like Bard's delivery much either. Mostly because I feel it isn't easily repeatable or smooth. I think he will most likely be a work in progress for a few years while they adjust his mechanics.

    A full HS schedule? What does that have to do with anything? If he's thrown 150 innings already I can see limiting him this year, but otherwise I think its wasting his time. My opinion, is they should be getting him in a routine they want, let him throw every 5 days, and shut him down when they think he's reached his pitch limit. Having him throw like a reliever isn't helping anything. Right now they should be trying to build up arm strength and work on locating pitches, not blowing it by undisciplined hitters for one inning at a time. Couldn't disagree with this philosophy more. Strong, healthy arms aren't created by coddling. *If there is more to the story then my bad

    Not the rule, but as a tradition yes. One that I absolutely hate. However, when they've had MLB caliber stars they do move quickly through the system (like Arcia has done).

    I don't get it. Give the Pirates some credit, they didn't let a big time agent push them into overpaying. I don't want anything to do with Appel next year, and I hope he falls even further.

    Hendriks will be fine. They just need to leave him with the Twins and let him face teams like the A's.... He's faced BOS, LAA, DET, TB, TEX, MIL, PIT and CHW. Pretty tough teams to face as a young pitcher. I'm completely against the way the Twins have handled him this year. Unless there is something more to the story, I can see him getting frustrated about what he has to do in order to get a legit shot.

    The Twins didn't leave a heap of money. Looking at the .9 million is a flawed view. They have a certain amount per slot they could go over before getting taxed. Obviously the unsigned kids weren't worth throwing that much extra money at. What did they have, 160 thousand left? How much did it cost to get Sano ect. If anyone thinks these guys that didn't sign are worth a ton of money right now you're kidding yourselves. Even Appel, the most polished pitcher in the draft, might not even make it. Plus, nitpicking about someone like Mazzilli is just overboard. I'm not a fan of every selection, but complaining about money spent is the last thing you should complain about. DPJ has it right, complain about the abundance of college relief arms chosen over starters (unless they can successfully convert a few). Complain about the players chosen, because that is where the Twins have the most control. With the way the draft is set-up now, players will either sign for their slot (or a little over) or not at all.

    I wasn't sure about Trumbo, just didn't feel like looking it up and threw him in there.

    Its tough to say, because football is such a huge talker. Since this is "Twins" Daily, maybe just an other sports forum? The Wild and Wolves never got a huge amount of play, but there were always some topics worth discussing. I do think the politics, media, and elitism (don't know what else to call it lol) forums need to be brought over.
