  1. Maybe not for a team like that, but definitely for someone else.
  2. Changed? How has it changed? Pat Dean looks like he might be a back-end of the rotation starter, but thats it.
  3. Nice day for Benson. Lets hope he can keep it up through the second half.
  4. I don't really care either way. I just think its funny to act like they don't know anything.
  5. Who is getting 2 MLB contributors per draft? I wouldn't have an issue with the Twins drafts if they were doing this, but they aren't. Their first round picks have been ok (considering 1st round picks in the MLB), but other than that there hasn't been much. I like this last draft better than any since I've been following this team. There are a few picks that I questioned (not hated by any means), but overall it was a very good draft from my prospective. Helps they had a high pick...
  6. Thats if you think he's an ace, which I have my doubts.... which others do as well.
  7. First off, you aren't allowed to use logic in this thread. Next, you are missing that a 107 win team actually wins that many games. If a team goes 10-0 they are on pace for a 162 wins. Now, this type of turnout just isn't going to happen, but comparing what a sample size would be on pace for isn't always the most accurate description of a team.
  8. That is a real paradox my friend... The word "improvement" means getting better. I would consider the last month as a positive for the Twins, and reason for optimism.
  9. I'm not sure Perkins would go for that. He is seeing dollar signs right now for his production in the bullpen, why would he make that kind of risk? It was the same conversation about Nathan after the Twins converted him to the pen with success. Leave him as the closer and let him become comfortable with it.
  10. So Hicks was getting love the past few years for his tools and now that he is actually producing Buxton gets a nod in front of him? I'm not counting anything against him for lack of experience, I can't consider someone to be better than somebody without actually proving it. Sano, Arcia, Rosario and now Hicks have all shown promise to be MLB regulars, Buxton hasn't shown it yet. Look at it this way, these guys have shown they could be an All-Star down the road (getting there is obviously another conversation) and Buxton hasn't had the opportunity. You can rank him above Benson right now because Benson has had a rough time making adjustments and hurts his potential going forward.
  11. I think what to do about Duensing ranks pretty low on objectives for the second half. At this point, he is pretty irrelevant.
  12. You must not have been watching this team for the last month or so. I would call an entire month playing above 500 ball a sign of improvement.
  13. You'd be surprised at how many players read forums. I'd be willing to bet he knows of Twins Daily, and might be an occasional lurker.
  14. He never understood why the guys liked cobwebs so much.
  15. I'm the same way about prospects. Buxton wont be near the top until he has some results. Right now he is only a bunch of tools.
  16. Front office guy #1: "What is Perk talking about?" Front office guy #2: "Its on the internet, I bet its about computers or game boy."
  17. I 100% disagree. The over the last month they have played pretty good baseball, despite their no-name pitching staff. Add in a front line starter and take out (one of) the 5th man and this team wouldn't look too bad. In order to compete they would still need some things to go their way (Diamond's continued success, development of Hendriks, and 2 in-house candidates to work out). I don't think its that far from the realm of possibility. Then, going into 2014, Morneau comes off the books and gives you more flexibility. By 2014 cost controlled regulars could be: Parmelee, Dozier, Plouffe, Revere, Hicks, Arcia, Benson. With Mauer and Willingham on contracts. 2014 cost controlled starting pitchers: Diamond, Hendriks, Gibson, De Vries? Not too bad of a core group of players.
  18. I certainly hope Carrol isn't in the 2013 plans over Casilla. Carrol is a solid fielder and thats it, he does nothing else well. Casilla at least has plus speed to go along with a better bat and is cheaper. Carrol makes no sense.
  19. Hicks in CF over Revere? Without having seen him play I'm giving the edge to Revere for CF, plus Hicks's arm plays better in RF. I've been impressed with Hicks lately. He seems to have turned some kind of corner like we've seen others do in AA. Hopefully this is for real and not just a hot streak. I still give the edge to Benson to start with the Twins, but Hicks is making a nice case. Benson just needs some time to get back into the groove.
  20. I wouldn't go that far. Casilla has plenty of value as long as his speed holds up. I don't think he's a long-term solution, but he is better than and should be playing in front of Carrol.
  21. That would be something the Twins would consider. Meyer could move through the system pretty quickly and would instantly become the Twins #1 starting pitcher in the minors.
  22. 1. Make more forum topics. I (like many from BYTO) like to talk about politics, games and movies just like baseball. Right now the forum isn't set up to have this variety. Please help RP. 2. I want to see the difference between threads I've read and threads I haven't. It is annoying when I think there is a new post but I find there isn't. Make it more obvious. 3. Separate stickies and regular thread topics. Its too cluttered. 4. Icons for forums. Doesn't have to be snarky, but it just gives it a cooler feel. Done for now, more to come.
  23. The Twins have never really been in this position to spend money before so we'll see. They have money coming off the books and the ability to add to the current payroll number if it makes sense. For an ace in his prime, I think it makes sense.
  24. Young and Gomez are fine examples of guys that moved rapidly through a system and failed in the MLB. However, both had unwarranted advancements. There are also plenty of examples of guys who were moved quickly that succeeded.
